My brother and I marched in 2004 for Elements of A Short Story, and had a blast doing it. By any chance, do you think that you could post that vid. We also did winter drumline for Category 5 when we went to Dayton and placed 15th overall, if you can find that video, please let me know
WOW! This is Destrehan? I would have never thought it. I lived in Destrehan from 1992 to 2004 and thought that you all were not THAT style of band. I was wrong! I graduated from EJ in the early 80's and were good, but not like this. At least we loved corps style bands. I'm sad to say that they have turned into St. Aug wannabes!! This is great to see!
Yea. We're surrounded by show bands in St. John and Jefferson. We've always been military style. I saw EJ in a few parades and they didn't look that bad.
Not that bad? You're too kind. But look at their cadence videos. HORRIBLE! And I can say that because I'm an alum. Or should I say a disappointed alum. Much different here in Columbia, SC where we live now. Few showbands. My son will be playing at Ridge View HS Blazer Band next year as a freshman. And he had to audition to make the percussion section. He'll be playing vibes in the pit. Check out their videos.
aaaah i cant believe its been 4 years since i last marched with this band... why are we steady getting smaller??? =( good job though u guys!!! was this when byron left already???
oh are you the one that switched from french horn and bari sax at yall concert if not that person is awesome because i can switch from baritone to alto sax and i have a lot of trouble with that
You play baritone? Any other baritone players other than you coming from Cammon? And yea we all do really care about music and getting the show done here so you won't have to worry about disrespect towards the band director because that is not tolerated here. I can't wait to meet you man. This next seasons gonna be fucking tight.
well tell him he will be valued here if he chooses to stay in band. Tell him to give us a shot. Most people are surprised by how much they like band at Destrehan.
At this show we received all 1's. I was the drum major and band president and this was indeed one of the best years for me as a member of the pride. We may have had some issues with numbers and instrumentation but the talented musicians we had did a hell of a job :D At Showcase we were indeed short changed for top 10, Best Overall Percussion , and Best Drum Major in out class. We finished 13th if I'm not mistaken overall in Band, 4th in percussion, and 7th overall drum major.
Not bad I always liked weaving line formations although they are hard to pull off. If you are looking for inspiration check out the DCI (drum corps international) show. They are truely incredible. What were the scores??
Competitions were really fun, and being a part of this program is really cool. I'm just a freshman so I have 3 more years! keep up the good stuff guys :3
this is the best drum major destrehan high school has ever seen, coming from 2011 and 2012 drum major
