  • WE NEED TO RESTORE SOME PRR STEAM DAMNIT!

  • They do have a fine collection of engines, but not a great outlet to run them. If one of their engines was restored, it would have to be leased by Strasburg to be able to run. This, to me gives you a choice of two engines in their collection; the H-10 2-8-0 7688, or the G-5 5741. All others would be too heavy, too weak, to imtegrated in the displays, or in the unique case of 7002 surprisingly unpopular with the crews.

  • @tropicalfishswim i agree with you the h-10 is a fine puller

  • @tropicalfishswim 7688 def. 520 if some equipment like NKP 757 and some amtrak cars and locomotives were sold at auction, please donate the tahoe to nevada state and send the gg1s to st. louis

  • i say they get the 1361 put back together and 460 and have some steam excresions

  • The Railroad Museum won't have any of their steam engines restored because according to them they believe "why would we compromise something that is already intact and historical?" I agree and disagree on that comment. I think the K4 should be restored. The K4 would be a real load, but it should handle it well. The only issue with it is its boiler. Remember just because the Railroad Museum is across the street doesn't mean they are related You have to lease their locomotives under a contract.

  • isnt the one loco operable?

  • Just be happy we still have a K4 and M1. Can't be said for T1, S1, S2, and J1.

  • All of these locomotives should be repaired for steaming. The K4s, at least.

  • Or is that an engine in the background pumping smoke and steam into them?

  • Did they actually fire them up?

  • did they accually steam them up? plz reply

  • Nah thats a display but your hearing sound effects and the smoke is actually from a smoke generator.

  • Are those steamers operating or are they just burning tires in the smokebox and with sound speakers hidden somewhere? If they are operating...HOORAY!!!! Love the shot. Please get shots of them moving.

  • No, smoke machines, the only K-4 to operate in the last half-century was 1361, 1986-88, and is currently in pieces, and the M1 is NOT operational, many want it operational, but that won't happen anytime soon.

  • how many K4 pacifics does pennsylvania hav?

  • Just joking about the men standing around:

    What's this? A union meeting??? ;-)

    Nice video!

  • where was this at

  • Fantasic and AMAZING video

  • you know. these big beast look coooool with steam coming out.

  • Did anybody notice the automobile passing by at 00:52?

  • yea i noticed it

  • I thought the trains were going to move.

    They just sat there

  • A+ video from A Pennsy fan

    Living north of the border

    I love the Lighting..STEVE

  • K4 would just be important to railfans, but important to society. K4's were probably one of the most well known locomotive types in america at one point. They are very important to our history. They should be restored.

  • ..plus everyone likes em.

  • They need to get that M-1 running

  • Dammit I wish they would restore a J-1 or a K-4 for Excursion runs that would be awsome. Plus New York Central's J-3 Hudson man that would be so awsome to ride behind.

  • there are no j3 in existence...unfortunatly, and the only 2 k4s are at strasburg and scranton....scrantons is awaiting funds to be finished

  • How did you get the steam generator sound?

  • No the Pennsylvania railroad dose not exist anymore. and thease locomotives just had smoke machines in them and were hooked up to air compressers

  • How did they get the steam and smoke to come out of those 2 locomotives when their fires really aren't lit?

  • 4 words:

    Really Big Smoke Machines.

  • The Beauty of Northeast rail roading. a K-4 and a J-1 long live the Pennsy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • You mean a K4 and M1, not J1. I've seen these locomotives before in person, so I should know.

  • Yes that is a K4s and that is a M1b. The M1 locomotive class was numbered in the 6700 number series. Great Video Though.

  • Are those K4's are gonig to run on the strasburg railroad?

  • There are only 2 K-4's in existance. One is being restored at Steamtown. The other one is at the PRR Museum in Strasburg PA and it is very unlikely it will ever steam up again.

  • Long Live the PENNSYLVANIA RAILROAD!!

  • I totally agree, those things were born on the rails, they were raised on the rails and therefore it makes sense to keep them on the rails, here I'm a woman and most women don't care about this kind of stuff, well if some women would put as much money into one of these beauties as they do with their clothes we'd have the whole fleet of Pennsy locomotives back on the rails!

God bless you railroad lovers, men and women alike!

  • If only that K4 woulda been steamed up for real! :(

  • AWSOME!!

How often do they do that?

  • Loved the dubbed in sound!!! Cool idea.

  • beautiful! just seeing the crews and big k4s really speaks to me.

  • Vert well done!

    Len.

  • This is excellent, and underscores another reason to put at least one more of the collection back into live service. Face it, people like PRR steam, and to deny restoration in the face of that desire seems short sighted.

  • They should get at least one of them into service. Just to see a K-4 run would be inspiring to all railfans. They were and still are the best that the Pennsy had to offer. PRR forever!

  • Too cool. It's like taking a time machine back.
