  • Late signal

  • @gregrocks66 I know!

  • i've never seen a crossing signal like that before. nice.

  • Is it just me, or is that train nearly in the intersection before that signal goes off?

  • It's rare to still have two at one crossing.

  • dude this video is raw keep it cuz you got dm&e !

  • I'm glad they dont have those signals in Florida. They don't call it FloriDUH for nothing.

  • Anyone know if the Griswold signals in Rogers Minnesota are still at the crossing?

  • A working Griswold! Funny how we take such simple but cool things for granted.

  • Why so late for signals to activate?

Train went through crossing earlier and once off the "island" the signals deactivated.

But since train never left the approaching circuit, (I don't knowhat it is called) the signal would not activate until it reached the island circuit?

Does that mechanism just have an electromagnet which attracts an armature?

If the magnet fails, the stop sign remains in its "off" position?

  • strange horn

  • its cool to see one of these working I am an antique buyer and one of my dealers who doesnt deal normally in railroad items calls me saying he came across some railroad pieces including a railroad crossing signal so I assmed it would be the standerd set of flashing lighs on the pole and he show up at my house with one of these Griswold signals I almost fell over when he pulled up with it 2 switchstands a baggage cart and a highspeed trainorder delivery stand that Griswold was heavy as hell

  • Rarer than wigwags! You earned yourself another cookie and sub.

  • What street are these on. Or what two street corners are nearest to them?

  • What street are these on. Or what two street corners are nearest to them?

  • do they normally send run through trains to illinois?

i seen a DM&E run through the CP besesnville yard

  • Yeah, they do now since CP took them over.

  • i know where there are actual grisworld WORKING signals! Furgus Falls minnesota!

  • @bnsf4 are they still there today working

  • Sadly now, these signals were removed from service in August or Sept. 2009. Fortunately, they have been preserved and will be on display at a museum.

  • @moocrew7 Don't tell me they closed the crossing! Or did they put up newer gates, red lights and bells?

  • Wow, always great to know there are still some in operation! Down here in Phoenix, any Griswold signal parts are LONG gone!

  • Love those Griswolds! There is ONE, and ONLY one set of Opperating Griswolds left in the Twin Cities- Where a BNSF branch crosses 22nd Ave NE in Minneapolis- and it has both styles- the wide stand and the pedestal style. Its great to see that atleast one Griswold crossing still has its stop signs and opperates daily in the city where they were made! And they have the original STOP signs!

  • the original Griswolds had yellow stop signs with black letters and cat's eye reflectors on the letters. All stop signs were new like that until some time in the 50's when the standard was changed to the red/white we have today. Every once in a while you come on a very remote example of a yellow stop sign. I think I know where there is still one in place, I'll get a photo of it when I am there again, if it is still there.

  • @BudmanPackfan yah my Griswold is missing the stop sign I am looking for the Yellow one like you described

  • nice video great looking griswold signals

  • Finally now I know how a griswold signal looks when the sign rotates. Looks cool. Thanks for uploading.

  • Almost as good as a wigwag. Thanks for the video.

  • BTW: are those still up and working or have they been replaced

  • They are still up and working as far as I know.

  • @popiBROS1 there gone

  • thanks alot !! :D

  • Wow, that interesting!

That's nice find rarely Griswold signal!

    *5 rating!

  • sweeet is this a hot spot> who owns this line

  • Great find, those signals are very rare now!

  • That's awesome! Not to many of those around anymore!

  • isnt it now a CP local?

  • Well, I suppose so..but when this was filmed, it was still DM&E.

  • Still a DME local as far as I know... CP did the same thing with the DME and ICE they did with the Soo- kept the same crews and power, just bought all the stock.

  • @JANGAJONGA Nope still DM&E all former DM&E and IC&E are still operated as they were. Considered a subsidiary of the CP,but not "owned" by/

  • i think they came on a little 2 early! LOL! they only came on wile it was on the road
