  • Even Ed Parker evolved as a kenpoist. It is also an art, and each person does the art a little different, doesn't mean its wrong. If it works its not wrong. It doesn't matter who is right or wrong, but who is standing in the end. If it works good, if not, then why not change it so that it does?

  • @musajbs Bravo.My thoughts exactly.

  • This is a lazy half ass shortform2. You should check out kenpotv.net. the guy who runs it is a first generation Ed Parker student and teaches and gives seminars all over the world.

  • @imbiased This form could do with being tightened up a bit, however it is just for beginners and Juan is not being to strict with his teaching method. Once you learn the form it is up to the student to sharpen up himself. As for Kenpotv.net, $45 per month for video tutelage, rip off. That is more than I pay for 12 real classes with a real instructor. Salute.

  • @complexbboy How can a student 'sharpen up' if he doesnt even see what the correct form is? I would hate to see this guy give flying lessons. And $45 buys you 12 lessons in Kenpo? perhaps from this guy.

  • Anyone who teaches Ed Parker's Kenpo Karate is in turn teaching their own style of Karate. Not many people are first generation Ed Parker Sr. students. If there is a more effective and efficient way something can be done, why should it not be done that way? If it does not break the rules and principles of the system why should the system not evolve? At the school in whitch I train new information is warmly welcomed and sometimes that information will change how something is taught. One has to...

  • ...keep an open mind to all things. We do Modern Arnis Jiujitsu at my school and incorporate that into our Kenpo as weapons training and defense against someone whom knows how to use knives and sticks...Also keep in mind injuries people might have; for example, I have very arthritic knees and they are always in pain so when doing forward bows I pop my heel off of the ground to relieve pressure from my knee. Also, due to dislocating & breaking a finger it looks like I am not making a fist all...

  • ...the way because of scar tissue and limited range of motion. I just thought I would throw those ideas into this conversation.

  • I love all the Parker Kenpo police here. Considering you can't get a handful of seniors that trained under Parker to agree on how anything should be done, the peanut gallery here must have the final say. After all, that is not how it is done in the book.

Makes me happy I am not in Parker Kenpo so I don't have to put up with all that crap.

  • @zoransevic LOLOLOLOL well said!!

  • wow, you really fucked short form 2 up. why signify both sides if you're only doing one side? why aren't you making good forward bows on the third and fourth moves? this is so sloppy, were you running out of film? do you care about the art? you don't even close correctly. this makes me sick.

  • @grendelhvs I always good to see people making constructive comments... Depending on who you learned this from there are indeed no forward bows. These are short range attacks. Look at Short1 and then Long 1. Take this concept and apply it from Short 2 to Long 2. You'll go ahead and show shorter range attacks (no FBs) to longer range attacks ( w/ FBs). There are forward bows all over long 2, but not short 2.

A mind is like a parachute, it doesn't function unless it's open.

  • @rdouglas1965 my vitriol is because this guy is insulting. his video begins with "Ed Parker's American Kenpo" - have you read infinite insights book 5? he's doing it different, he shouldn't call this Parker's Kenpo because it's not! my mind is open, so are my EYES. I see this guy is sloppy, doesn't close properly, his feet should snap to attention at the same time his hands hit his legs, has his thumbs sticking out on his outward handswords, his feet aren't even together in attention stance!

  • Urgh. This one is my least favorite form so far. Why does my forward bow suck so bad?

    xD

  • Thanks for the help, Im using this in the Branford tournament thats coming up, Im one of Defensive Edges (Rich's) black belts. Hope I'll see some of you're students there.

  • Your videos are a real help guys thanks, even when they differ from what Im expected to do in the grading they give me a lot of info, and help me remember what Ive been shown.

Been following you from yellow, going for purple now.

  • Beautiful work of the form

  • I know you, you used to train with with Master Larry Tatum in Pasadena. what happened? decided to start on your own??
