Great clip of the 8F climbing steadily away from Camberley with power and 13 coaches on! The 8Fs were always very sure footed even in BR days and this loco is a great little performer! I don't know the south of England very well but I did travel this line about 3 years ago and noticed the EMUs did have to work hard up that bank so I can only imagine what it was like in steam days! Thanks for sharing! Ken
Right time, right place, right loco, green foliage and a break in the rain. But better than it all that....What a glorious Sound!!!! Thank you for your time in taking and effort in posting this masterpiece!!
Thanks everyone for the nice comments, I was dithering about for ages about where to go, I was really pleased I chose that spot in the end. Steam through Camberley is a very rare event and they definitely picked the right loco for the job. That gradient out of the station is bloomin' awesome! I don't know how many other engines could have handled 13 loaded coaches up there from a standing start without a pause.
@KingandCastle - it's lucky I know you so well or I wouldn't have recognised you!
