  • Thanks, Robin, for posting that, in it's entirety. It's impact of that tragedy really sets in, when you watch that, uninterrupted.

  • @jonesy97 No problemo, in my opinion, this has to been shown in it's entirely. Not the crash and salute apart. Think this will not be right too. As you said, while watching this uninterrupted, tragedy really sets in. Hope you 'enjoyed' this video

  • he died doing what he loved...

  • this is very sad

  • 3:48 what two cars were covered with the tarps ? and why ?@RobinTheGhost

  • @XxSiiCkXKiilZxX Probably because Wheldon was in that car and basically got decapitated.

  • @XxSiiCkXKiilZxX Sorry for the late answer, haven't saw your message. One of the cars was from Dan Wheldon, so that they are no photographs or video of the cockpit area (believe he was out of the cockpit at that time, because he was airlifted to a nearby hospital). But I still don't know from who is the other car, since I couldn't find anything on the web (yet).

  • @RobinTheGhost wasnt his body like torn to pieces ? by explosion ? and noone else died so idk why another car wuld b covered

  • @XxSiiCkXKiilZxX No his body wasn't, nor was he decapitated. He was alive when he was (airlifted) in the hospital. I think he had a fatal head injury which caused his death, though I can't say that for 100% sure.

  • I always try to think about Dan Wheldon being in heaven now racing against other drivers who've lost their lives like Dale Earnhardt and Ayrton Senna.

  • The only time I ever cried when I heard Amazing Grace

  • RIP Dan your #1 Fan

  • I started racing karts two years ago and saw that Dan raced as well. I raced with him last year in Vegas and was so excited to race with him this year. Can't believe he's gone. In Vegas we did a salute to him just like the Indy guys did. You will be missed Dan Wheldon.

  • And they know it could have happened to any one of them...

  • Sorry to hear that @xxkidxxswaggerxx I hope all is well now x

  • R.I.P. Dan!

  • Man....i just am on the verge of tears evertime i watch this...Dan Wheldon....I hope ur in a happy place, right now.

  • me and my father watched this then 5 days later my father died:[

  • @xxkidxxswaggerxx Yeez, that's very sad bro :(... wish you the best

  • @RobinTheGhost thanks

  • @xxkidxxswaggerxx im sorry to hear that but how :( my condolences

  • Something like this will happen again because Indy cars wont do anything about it R.I.P Dan Wheldon

  • @ohbobsaget22 Indeed, dunno what you actually can do about such crashes, it's just very unfortunate what happened. Just like the dead of Henry Surtees, also very unfortunate. Hopefully they will find a way to protect drivers even better in the future.

  • @RobinTheGhost your right when you are in a open cockpit car going at almost 200 MPH going around tight corners, theres always a risk that something like this will happen

  • @ohbobsaget22 Indeed. Hopefully they will find something to protect drivers in the future from these accidents. But only time knows... let's hope nobody will get killed in the meanwhile

  • @RobinTheGhost if you pay attention to the sport, you would know that they HAVE done something about it. they have a new car that has been in development that will be used starting next year. the new car has a fender-like barrier over the rear tires to prevent tire to tire touches, which is what happened here. ironically, dan wheldon was the test driver for the new car

  • @jjohnson4888 Safety Cell, I heard about it. But that will only stop contact with the rear tire (although not from the side). But it will not stop cars getting launched in the air, with a possibility to collide with a wall, or any other object (which happened here. Dan flew in the catch fence). It is some safety change, but it will not stop crashes like these. The tires might be safer now, but the cockpit still is not optimal protected. Hope they find a solution for that soon though.

  • unbeliveable you think there safe .you will be missed r.i.p.dan

  • @animalandy1000 In racing, you'll never be safe. But this was more the time, that you would never think a fatal accident would happen again

  • That's tough. Very sad.

  • @ZZRgirl11 It indeed is
