This is all that the Virtual Boy hardware needed to be: Aesthetically acceptable, screen in color, and actually portable. It couldn't have been done by any other than the greatest videogame company to ever exist...
I forgot VR was a fad in the 90's. I remember seeing the VR stations set up in malls with people in line trying those type of headsets out. I don't remember the Sega V.R., though. Too bad it wasn't released.
maybe one day will be time to revive this technology. The headset looks like its from nowadays. Today we have cheaper monitors with higher resolution, we have LED, LCD screens instead of "headaching" CRT's. maybe...maybe one day....
They quit the project after finding out that it could cause visual damage in kids. Having the screen that close to your eye, and focusing on stuff in the distance proved to cause problems.
I thought all gaming hurt your eyes. They invented glasses before they invented television. Gamers can just wear contacts today or get lasic surgery. How much did it hurt their eyes?
Do you think virtual reality will ever make it big in gaming? I think it if were tried again today it might work since we have a lot better technology. Today's gaming VR is more like MMORPGs or Microsoft's hands free controller they are working on
Ah, the days before the Web. You could get away with a sped-up video of a guy driving around and call it a potential game. This definitely looks like it could have been fun. But imagine spending hours a day with that thing on your head...
as a kid/teen i was obsessed with all things virtual reality and i remember reading/saving magazine and newspaper articles about this device... I was planning on buying one so i could use it in the upcoming year's science fair in a project on VR (what the hell was i thinking!)
Nice find. Remember playing with a VR headset back in epcot when it had the Sega pavillion filled with genesis consoles and eventually Dreamcast consoles.

Wish they'd have released it.

That mech game looks like it could have been cool. I wonder what happened to it.

Bunch of douches in a corporate video and some lame barely playable tech demos, thats what the golden age of gaming was all about!
Anyways, great video as always man.
