I like it, you seem educated, liberal and understand life in Vermont. I live in New Hampshire. I need to get the fuck out. People have forgotten how to live here.
I love vermont. I've only been there once.. well twice, but I was too young to remember the first time. But from what I do remember, the people are the nicest and the scenery is beautiful.. not much more you can ask for really.
@ValkyrieDude7070 YOUR SO FUCKING WRONG!!!!! I live there and Vermont is the shit. Idk where you fucking live but done be hating on a place youve never fucking been. So shut the fuck up!
@ValkyrieDude7070 Not really. I live near Burlington like the town over, Colchester, and there is no cow farms in Burlington or Colchester I dont think.
@thatvermontkid13 i didn't mean farms exclusive to cows. but every state has farms with cows in them. here's 2 little fun facts. 1. there are more people in rhode island than vermont which is saying something considering rhode island is the smallest american state in population. 2. i'm from pittsburgh and Heinz Field (home of the steelers) has a bigger population than Burlington and Colchester combined. All im saying is try to get your local government to start some development projects.
@ValkyrieDude7070 Thats the last thing we want is to have developement, I'd rather have a low population density then everyone living on top of eachother thats what makes Vermont great. Also, your fact about Rhode Island makes absolutely no sense. I hate city life and thats the last thing I'd ever want to see in vermont.
@F350With460engine if you don't believe me, look it up. Rhode Island has more people than vermont. but that's not my point, my point is that no matter how much you hate city life, it's always better than having to drive 20 miles to the nearest grocery store. it's always better than living surrounded by nothing.
@ValkyrieDude7070 Well thats obvious that there is more people in Rhode Island. Plus you completely missed the point I made, I like having to drive miles to get to the store, I like there being nothing but woods for miles. I would take that any day over walking outside onto pavement. Bet ya ain't never even seen a back road.
@F350With460engine actually i have. i have relatives who live in the middle of nowhere and i visit them often. so im quite familiar with how it is out there. i know about life in the sticks more than you think
@ValkyrieDude7070 So then you should see why we don't want Vermont to become like most other states. The peace and quiet of being in the middle of nowhere is much more enjoyable then a city that never sleeps.
@F350With460engine but you have to admit, in a city it's a lot easier to find what you need. it's a lot better living within walking distance to a store or a hospital. what if someone out there gets hurt? how can you get them help in under 20 minutes without getting a speeding ticket?
@ValkyrieDude7070 Well if someone gets hurt out here they are either fucked, or they are able to make it. There is risks associated with any kind of living environment. Your more likely to be hit by a car in the city, just like you would be more likely to hit a deer or moose out here.
@ValkyrieDude7070 Actually, there's some of the best weed in the country, the best skiing in the country, close to the best hiking in the country. What else do you really need?
why on earth is it that no matter what kind of site you visit, wether it's for listening to music, watching cities and different countries, clothes ,you name it ,people ALWAYS,always start a discussion on racism, religion or war! is it the only thing peole are interested in or have an opinion about? please come on!
@Alexc3217 to focus on such items alone people has already become way too limited and narrowminded,i could write a whole list of other more constructive topics but others has to find out for themselves.
Vermont is awesome I live there. We don't get enough recognition here! This place is awesome, there is forests everywhere, like global warming missed here. If you don't come your missing out!
Vermont is meteorologically insane, the winter is bitter cold and constantly snowing and the summer is hot like Saudi Arabia and the weather changes every 5 minutes...
Me, My Wife and Kids are planning on looking at a few houses in vermont. I have done a little research on the crime and it looked good. What is the crime rate. 1 to 10. anybody that lives there plz rate. Also is Vermont secluded
@RebornLayneStaley the crime rate is a zero lol, I lived in Florida and Texas and Massachusetts and really there;s no comparison. It's secluded alright- sometimes too much.
@walkertexasranger33 not really, my grandmother is from Bavaria and I was raised to speak German as well as English and there is a such thing as "selective English", regardless of being able to speak English as a native, when talking to those liberal snotty types, that dominate Burlington, the accent and broken English earns respect and friendliness from them... If I pretend to be German in Montreal I get the same thing, politeness and friendliness vs speaking English....
wow such a beautiful town. I'm looking into going to the university there perhaps in the fall (UVM) but i'm looking at videos to check out first before deciding to visit ...
is burlington accepting of asians? Are there a decent number there? I constantly hear that it's a 98% white town.
@hippostereo Burlington is like a lost town from East Germany, taking pictures is illegal and it is über liberal and the only people not accepted up here are white masculine men and I say this as a white masculine gay guy... there is Church St. Marketplace and it is illegal to ride bikes up and down that street and homophobia is rampant here but on the bus Asians, Arabs and Spanish people are respected and speak in their languages with one another and are fine...
wow, it seems outta staters always get a kick outta our state of Vermont, i love it here and wouldnt change it for anything but after a while u run out of things to do...

@KillahB89 that's the absolute opposite of what atheists believe - religious people think they have all the answers, atheists believe we're in the process of discovering them.
No. Atheism is the belief that no God could possibly exist. And most religious people I know have doubts; its their faith that keeps them. It just irks when when atheists make pretentious statements like that. A belief in a higher being doesnt make you stupid.
"I think therefore I am." Anything more is just opinion
@KillahB89 Atheism is a lack of belief in God, because there is no evidence, nothing more, Theism is a belief in God despite the evidence which is probably why atheists seem so sure of themselves and maybe arrogant to you.
All this person said was they like the idea of living in a secular place - nothing wrong with that at all.
Perhaps. If thats the definition then ok. I guess I am basing this off the people who feel the need to tell people "there is no God." Everyone is entitled to faith. But anyways Vermont is a nice place haha
@RcUniverseGuy wow really? im from vermont and im sure if it really came down to the things that count like being able to provide for your family and hunt and survive, vermont people would be the only people left.
of course these minorities are given the power by the liberal legislaters who are also out of staters.
and i totally agree with you about the taxation issue, but that's what happens when you try to have state run health insurance and large scale rehabilitation programs.
the saddest part is, we don't even have a conservative choice on the ballet so there won't be industry or a workable tax base to make statewide improvements as long as that is the case.
get the hell out of my state, get off our city councils, get out of our democracy, REAL vermonters want to take the state to whole new levels but due to the firm grip of the tourist industry we have remained in the dark ages. Just look at our neighbors to the east and west, they both have phenomenal countryside and flourishing cities, while VT remains tired and decrepit.
Well, cry all you want but we are in Vermont. We are your M.D.'s, Ph.D.'s and the folks who make the real world run. It's not 1950 anymore buddy. We are here and we are the new voice of Vermont and we will make this state move forward. Cast out the old and bring in the new! We will lead this sad country into a modern world.
@vermontwinter1 wow, you get around...i' m gonna come to your town and rape your white daughter with my big black maple tree. i'll let you clean my tap as it drips grade b syrup all down my thigh. you really do have some stuffed-shirts in this puny damp patch.
for some reason Vermont just makes me laugh really hard. I mean what is there to do there? NOTHING! they came from south korea...of all the places to go they went there.
i am from montréal,québec, beautiful burlington,st-albans,and necr-new-england central railroad.quebec province of canada ,annex-annexion vermont the 11 provinces of canada in 2010 may be.....
Isn't it funny how the whiter the state the more likely they are to be liberal? Vermont is 98% white, I'd like to see how liberal they would after setting up some Section 8 housing and importing hundreds of thousands of blacks and illegal immigrants.
Believe it or not, Vermont was the first state to repeal slavery laws. Vermont also has many safe houses listed with the Underground Railroad Registry. Many famous African Americans came to live or were born in Vermont, such as Jeffrey Brace, a famous blind slave from Nigeria who was considered to be one of the most well versed men of his time, and the first African American college president in the US, Martin Freeman was born in Rutland. Castleton had a very high negro population in the 1800's.
Included there was the only medical college for the negro population in the country at that time. The men also served in the armed forces, such as the civil war, ww1, ww 2, the Korean War, as well as the Vietnam War. The point here is that although the state is primarily white and has been for some time, this was not always the case. And the choice for the African Americans was usually one based on economics. Many of them removed to Saratoga Springs to work and live.
I'm from New Zealand. It's not far from australia. My address is 258, don buck road, Massey Auckland. CUT and paste this into Google earth and you will see my house.
johnrhs- here it is plain and simple. if we could keep the out of state flatlanders from coming here- loving it then moving here only to want it all changed we'd be just fine. Its all the city folk and the modern thinking idiots from the city who come here and ruin our state. buy up all the land then put no trespasing signs all over the place. ruin our state! change our laws! bitch! build mansions so our taxes go up and we're pushed out of our homes! Then complain we dont cater to you. be gone
true vermonters who are native to the state hate obama and dont want handouts. its the out of staters who move to vermont because of the welfare and ruined our state. so to all you flatlanders- stay home if your going to downgrade our state- your not welcome here. talk about handouts- go to ca. and yes we are racist- learn to drive and speak english if you come here. its your out of state influence that has ruined this state. u all move here cause u like it- then cant wait to change it
Vermont is very Democratic, and many Democrats, example Barbara Boxer, Bill Clinton, etc. try to act like they like minorities, when they only like minorities in their place. Vermont is not at all diverse and very Democratic. Vermont is a perfect example of imperial socialism.
Vermont is actually more conservative than you give it credit for. A large surge of younger voters may vote Democratic, but talk to a majority of the older Vermont population and you'll find very conservative views. As for minorities, just because Vermont not diverse doesn't make it racist. Nor does it make Vermont socialist. I would argue that more states west of Vermont are more socialist, in fact.
But that still doesn't tell me why you think this way. Did you have a bad VT experience? O.o
No. I have been to Vermont several times and have never had a bad experience. In fact I really like the state itself, but I very much dislike its modern-day politics. It used to be a great state politically. It used to have 'the most Republican Washington delegation', but now it just has Bernie Squanders and Patrick Lie-he.
i agree manly cuz i live there haha but too bad B&J was sold to some European company (i think :P) and Phish is starting to get bigger and going to bigger cities around the country but The Shelburne Museum as still going strong as far as a know haha :)
@dpapaioannow you obviously have never been to vermont its not racist here, we are one of the most accepting states in the country thank you very much you arrogant asshole. burlington is the shit i love growing up here and going to BHS
@ajaxm13 i wasnt reffering to you,if you have to talk shit...talk to vermontwinter1 and i have relatives at south burlington, been there 7 times and met quite a few racist assholes, even though they try to pass on their stupidity as something natural or not "as their fault" sorta speak...but you know what they say ajaxm13...opinions are like ASSHOLES,everybody's got one
i live here ill tell you if it sucks or not the night life is crap the people suck theirs to many goddamn cows we never have anything to do and winters are way to long its the worst state ever! the only thing i love about it is our lax gun laws that makes it better but kiss them goodbye cause of obama :( yes tourists do piss me and a lot of other Vermonters off looking at trees in the fall
wow what a misguided misrepresentation of our beautiful state! do us all a favor leave if vermont is so horrid we'll have no problem replacing you with a positive, productive member of society! vermont is awesome ive lived here 34 yrs !

ok VERMONT SUCKS,i live in New Jersey hell yeah way better than fuckin vermont, omg im never going to vermont again,If ur going ther expect to be bored
i'm pretty sure those people that are staying in killington and making the day trips are staying in killington the wrong time of the year. i meannn jjaayyyzzus! went there other day it was pprettty nice. you know. haha my dad made me go down outer limits. haha that fucker. i mean i hate mogules! i must say, i was doing pretty well until about half way down things got a bit wild. took a diggggerr, it was pretty nice. people from the lift saw it all go down. luckily it wasn't a yard sale though
i like going to the Champlain valley fair. i went last year and saw them jonas brothers hahaha. arent they just so crazy. well no, i dind't really see them. but i did "see"" them from the top of the WILD MOUSE RIDE! if tourist really want to know vermont they should travel out of the city part of it and into the woods. maybe they could hit up a few parties they'll probably stumble upon on the weekends. i know thats what i'd want at mine, an old couple from florida to liven things up.
psh.... these people and their dinner cruises on the lake.
hahah wtf??? who goes to church street to talk to tourists?? haha. i go there for the hobos! and yes, i go there to shop too, i suppose like the tourist do. but i mean, its different for me. i've lived in vermont for my whole 16 years of life. I'M FROM ORANGE COUNTY! WOOO.
we own some cows and big house in the woods. coyotes scare me, and foxes do as well. i love Cabot cheese, and the 802 area code.

As a tourist to vermont I found you locals to be VERY annoying. Next summer, if possible, would you please stay indoors while I am there? Better still, how about going away for a couple of weeks!!
i dont live there. . . anymore. when you say rude idk. like i think a lot of the east coast is like that. omg & your coming back even though you "hate us"? Good For You!
stay the fuck out of Vermont the last thing we need is more dick head tourist like you if you want to come around me with that attitude this summer ill be more then glad put you in your place
very little crime. Tons of UVM kids everywhere during september and october. if i were a tourist i would go in June-August check out the shops around church street and then go down by the waterfront and grab a bite, that aquariums pretty cool for kids. mid october is also nice (during foliage) but ive always lived here and am not impressed anymore. I would recommend going in the summer and hope for nice weather. also if you wanna ski here i suggest Bolton or Sugarbush during March. SKI VT!
Hey i live in Vermont and I have to say that I like it here. Always have. I live in Windham County though which is very rural. The town I live in, Williamsville, has a population of 120. And I only have one neighbor in my immediate vicinity. I am hemmed in by mountains and it is a thirty minute drive to the nearest town of Brattleboro. But I do love it.
I'm from Windham county too!!! WOW!!!! And live like 30 minutes from Bratt as well... hmmmm. interesting.
I am moving to Lyndonville in Sept... and am currently out of state, but I am from & have lived YEARS in Windham county!! its awesome!! VT is the best place in the USA!! =)

IAmKingBonzo 9 months ago
@IAmKingBonzo
Perhaps. If thats the definition then ok. I guess I am basing this off the people who feel the need to tell people "there is no God." Everyone is entitled to faith. But anyways Vermont is a nice place haha

of course these minorities are given the power by the liberal legislaters who are also out of staters.
and i totally agree with you about the taxation issue, but that's what happens when you try to have state run health insurance and large scale rehabilitation programs.
the saddest part is, we don't even have a conservative choice on the ballet so there won't be industry or a workable tax base to make statewide improvements as long as that is the case.
poncethegreat169 2 years ago
get the hell out of my state, get off our city councils, get out of our democracy, REAL vermonters want to take the state to whole new levels but due to the firm grip of the tourist industry we have remained in the dark ages. Just look at our neighbors to the east and west, they both have phenomenal countryside and flourishing cities, while VT remains tired and decrepit.

We are here and we are the new voice of Vermont and we will make this state move forward. Cast out the old and bring in the new! We will lead this sad country into a modern world.

Isn't it funny how the whiter the state the more likely they are to be liberal? Vermont is 98% white, I'd like to see how liberal they would after setting up some Section 8 housing and importing hundreds of thousands of blacks and illegal immigrants.
Castaril 2 years ago
Believe it or not, Vermont was the first state to repeal slavery laws. Vermont also has many safe houses listed with the Underground Railroad Registry. Many famous African Americans came to live or were born in Vermont, such as Jeffrey Brace, a famous blind slave from Nigeria who was considered to be one of the most well versed men of his time, and the first African American college president in the US, Martin Freeman was born in Rutland. Castleton had a very high negro population in the 1800's.
Nello7 2 years ago 4
Included there was the only medical college for the negro population in the country at that time. The men also served in the armed forces, such as the civil war, ww1, ww 2, the Korean War, as well as the Vietnam War. The point here is that although the state is primarily white and has been for some time, this was not always the case. And the choice for the African Americans was usually one based on economics. Many of them removed to Saratoga Springs to work and live.

johnrhs- here it is plain and simple. if we could keep the out of state flatlanders from coming here- loving it then moving here only to want it all changed we'd be just fine. Its all the city folk and the modern thinking idiots from the city who come here and ruin our state. buy up all the land then put no trespasing signs all over the place. ruin our state! change our laws! bitch! build mansions so our taxes go up and we're pushed out of our homes! Then complain we dont cater to you. be gone
thewildbull 2 years ago
true vermonters who are native to the state hate obama and dont want handouts. its the out of staters who move to vermont because of the welfare and ruined our state. so to all you flatlanders- stay home if your going to downgrade our state- your not welcome here. talk about handouts- go to ca. and yes we are racist- learn to drive and speak english if you come here. its your out of state influence that has ruined this state. u all move here cause u like it- then cant wait to change it

JohnRhysMusician, being a Vermonter, I would really like to know where you're getting your opinion of the state from. O.o
monny287 2 years ago 2
Vermont is very Democratic, and many Democrats, example Barbara Boxer, Bill Clinton, etc. try to act like they like minorities, when they only like minorities in their place. Vermont is not at all diverse and very Democratic. Vermont is a perfect example of imperial socialism.
JohnRhysMusician 2 years ago
Vermont is actually more conservative than you give it credit for. A large surge of younger voters may vote Democratic, but talk to a majority of the older Vermont population and you'll find very conservative views. As for minorities, just because Vermont not diverse doesn't make it racist. Nor does it make Vermont socialist. I would argue that more states west of Vermont are more socialist, in fact.
But that still doesn't tell me why you think this way. Did you have a bad VT experience? O.o
monny287 2 years ago
No. I have been to Vermont several times and have never had a bad experience. In fact I really like the state itself, but I very much dislike its modern-day politics. It used to be a great state politically. It used to have 'the most Republican Washington delegation', but now it just has Bernie Squanders and Patrick Lie-he.

i like going to the Champlain valley fair. i went last year and saw them jonas brothers hahaha. arent they just so crazy. well no, i dind't really see them. but i did "see"" them from the top of the WILD MOUSE RIDE! if tourist really want to know vermont they should travel out of the city part of it and into the woods. maybe they could hit up a few parties they'll probably stumble upon on the weekends. i know thats what i'd want at mine, an old couple from florida to liven things up.
wildernesswarrior2b 2 years ago
psh.... these people and their dinner cruises on the lake.
hahah wtf??? who goes to church street to talk to tourists?? haha. i go there for the hobos! and yes, i go there to shop too, i suppose like the tourist do. but i mean, its different for me. i've lived in vermont for my whole 16 years of life. I'M FROM ORANGE COUNTY! WOOO.
we own some cows and big house in the woods. coyotes scare me, and foxes do as well. i love Cabot cheese, and the 802 area code.

very little crime.
