For Those Who Haven't Tried This Yet, I Recommend It. You Feel The Burn Right Away And You Get Results. One Of My Favorite Shoulder/Chest Workouts. You Don't Need Much Weight Either...A 15 Lbs Dumbell Is Probably All You'll Need.
@Fattie13. U could try sitting on an incline bench. And then just sit up to hit ur shoulders. N then back for chest again. This seems to b a light weight exercise. Is focus on form n muscle concentration. Maybe half or a lil more of what U'd use w regular seated db shoulder press.
so i get it, pretty much a weighted uppercut. will this also help in the outer area of the pec as well? i'm having trouble targeting that area, when i lift my arms straight up, my outer pec curve inward instead of outward like yours and many other weightlifters. any advice.
Wow pretty innovative! Looks like a great workout, I will incorporate this in my routine. And the great thing about this workout is its convenience factor.
JEFF - I love your exercises ad i definately want to join the program. However, I am currently treating my shoulder for tendonitis shpuld i wait untill its fully healed. Also my shoulders are much smaller than my biceps and triceps, would athlean x help me with that problem?
i really like what you're doing here, the one question i have about this particular exercise is how many reps when up/down when before transitioning and how many reps/sets? is this just to be done to exhaustion?
My shoulder growth is plateauing from just presses and raises, this is some great info as well as the rotator cuff importance that I knew but neglected. I like this exercise and want to implement it but I don't like the pressure on my knees. Will it have the same effect if I am sitting on a flat bench and just lean back? Is there an alternative? I do notice oh heavier weights that my feet start lifting off the ground, probably due to weaker abs.
I just started athleanx, the first day i was in the gym for less than half the time I would normally spend in there and i sweat more than I ever have and I am so sore I can hardly move my arms. I think I am going to really like this program, I havent done it enough to recommend it yet but after the 90 days I will definitely put a real review.
hey jeff can you make a video about best suplements, not just for look but also for strenght and preformace....what suplements you use ? what do you thinka about glutamine ?
I like this exercise but I have bad knees so what I did to change it up a little I used your band and wrapped it around my chest got on my knees and instead of leaning back I just resisted the band from taking me back to activate my core, and did the exercise. I just didnt get the upper chest workout that I wanted. I just cant sit on my knees for a long time because of my knee pain.
did something similar (by accident haha!) the other week, and injured one of my elbows, (cleared up now, phew!) anyone got any ideas what I did wrong?
@jdcav24 - Would you recommend buying the total gym equipment? I like to avoid machines of any kind but I seem to have no choice right now if I have to get any kind of workout in. Please suggest. I take your advice very seriously :)
If you want look like an athelete, you gotta BE an athlete, the definition of being an athlete IS having a natural aptitude for physical activities involving physical strength, speed, or endurance thus training like one makes you one, having liposuction and silicones and all that hollywood bullshit just makes you look like one, IMO.
Im not flaming though, I still really like the combinations you come up with.
i like the variation ... i would appreciate a side view so that i can understand if you are hinging...... you are a great motivator... and it looks like you are increasing in side... bravo!!
Hey jeff your exercises have really helped alot ive just finished30 days of your workouts and i used to weigh 230 when i was fourteen and now im 15, i weigh more in the area of 170, and i just feel great thanlk you jeff keep the great work going
Hey Jeff love this variaton for the shoulder press. I'm on week 3 of the Athlean X program, can I use this variation when a db shoulder press is required or should I just follow the press as prescribed in the exercise menu?
i'm actually going to try for a personal trainer as a career. I like this extercise and i'm glad you uploaded it cause shoulders and triceps is what i'm actually trying to accomplish now for my fitness. If its not to much trouble Jeff would you be able to do a tricep routine with just dumbells if possible?
Hey man i have hurt my shoulder I would really like to know how to help it recover or something to do for it cause i cant work-out in upper body plz thumbs up this so he will see
Jeff could you tell me how to tie in biceps with forearms? i have problem that my biceps and forearms have quite a gap between them.Training biceps makes them peek more but i cant get them longer. Is there any exercise i could do?
should this be done with a relatively lighter weight (compared to what you would do standing or on a bench), since your also putting strain on your core?
I'm loving these creative exercises Jeff, you're doing a phenomenal job!! I was wandering if you could give me something creative and new for massive biceps like yours. I'm trying to gain size, and I know that increasing the healthy food intake will help, but what's the best exercise that I can do at the end of my workout that will leave me with a satisfying "swollen" feel to fully engage every angle of both my triceps (for that horseshoe-head look) and biceps (especially engaging both heads)?
This seems like a great exercise. I've always wanted to focus on building an upper chest along with the shoulders, but I didn't know how to isolate that part of the body until now. Awesome video, keep em' coming!
I enjoyed this video. Thanks for putting it up. I do have one question for you. What advice do you have for training for a 1/2 marathon? Should i be doing athleanx and running a lot or are the two counter productive?
Great exercise. I've purchased the full AthleanX training system, and stand by it 100%. I had spinal surgery two years ago, and had to seriously change the way I exercise. This was my silver bullet. Further, if any of you travel now and again for work, as I do, packing some tubes/bands for work in your hotel room is an excellent way to go.
jeff I still have trouble developing my rear delts, now instead of using dumbells i'm using kettlebells. any idea on how to develop more on this part of the delts?
@themainmanontheblock If ya dunt mind me answerin dude, start doin face pulls instead of rear delt raises with dumbells or your kettlebells. The problem with the delt raise is that since you're isolating the muscle, u can only use an extremely small amount of weight. The face pull ties in your upper back and traps into the movement, enabling you to go much heavier on your rear delts.
Finished 4th week of AthleanX and can't finish the 400 challenge in 17 minutes. The Inverted Row is where I fail. Any ideas on what I can do? I started doing the negative pull-ups to failure. Anything else?
@gerryottawa I failed on the fourth week also. just finished week two again and i was surprised when repeating the exercises how much i actually gained. just repeat weeks one threw three again and you'll see your times, strength, and reps to failure skyrocket!
Jeff, or anyone that could help, I am naturally a skinny bloke and my height makes me lok skinnier, the Athlean programme helps to lower body fat and become lean, but I already am quite lean, would this workout still be beneficial? I don't need to get any skinnier :/ lol
@storerj04 I've been doing it and i need to loose the fat but i do feel the muscle gains. the meal plan will help feed your muscles while the workouts build them.
@storerj04 write down what you eat everyday for a week or so and calculate the calories, carbs, protein and fat you're eating everyday. most skinni guys simply do not eat enough and without eating enough you won't gain much muscle. i have seen tremendous results since i take care of my nutrition while doing the same exercises (every set to failure)
@brainfreeze2809 I have already done that earlier in the year...I eat more than the Daily Guidance thing but I will still need to eat more if my energy output increases...Does the meal plan help with portion size and control as well?
I really like the burn this type of excercise gives and working with minimum equipment is a plus for a stay at home dad, add in the core work while your doing this and you have a superb training tip. In a word Awesome.
