theres no way that Mann could have made this like the 80's series ..if just for the plain fact that its a much different world now then when the 80's series took place..(no cell phones, GPS technology, internet crime units, hackers etc)  this was more of updated version(not a remake) of his characters doing their stuff in todays world and the movie is better for it.

They say the Miami skyline was built from drug money due to the druglords filling the Miami banks will hundreds of millions of dollars in the early 80s which made it easy for banks to give out loans to developers. I read a script of the part 2 movie on google and Gong Li will not be in the 2nd movie instead crocket goes back to his ex which is Jennifer Garner and Tubbs and Crocket go after Arc Angel Jesus Montoya and there informant gets killed also in club scene. This is what i read on google but not sure if its true. I am gussing part to will be good also. I think part one is just awesome.

@drcrow31 I heard they were going to do a part 2 from the mouth of Jamie Foxx when he was being interviewed on VH1. Its not set to be released until the fall of 2011. The first one was very good however it lacked showing the true exotic visuals of Miami. Part 2 is going to be interesting if you like fast cars,fast money,beautiful women,drug lords,exotic real estate & of course Miami !

@KillerSalmon Miami vice showed a real side to the drug business in Miami just like the movie Scareface. Bad Boys that had to put comedy in the movie to keep it interesting. There are more druglords living in South Beach Miami than anywhere in the world. FYI

@KillerSalmon ...exactly.....people for the most part expected a 80's/90's style car chases and big expolsions type of thing..this was dark and gritty with a character driven complex storyline.....the look of the film (especially the night scenes) reminded me alot of "Heat" Mann's other great crime drama.....definitely underrated in my opinion. i think this movie is gonna grow on people over time.
