St.Perersburg was bombed because germany had to cut of Russia's line of advance and force them to surender, Petersburg was one of three targets for axis conquest of russia

But Hungarians who in August 1944 were sent to fight Warsaw uprising, instead sat down with their Polish brothers and some decided to turn their weapons against Wehrmaht. Subseguently, the rising turned out to be a provocation but they did not participate in anti-insurgent action. Slovaks were in similar situation in 9/39, they acted passively. So both nations did whatever they could best given the circumstances.

Finnish war was bit separated from axis. At winter 1939-1940 they fought alone against Stalin, lost some areas but kept independence. Finnish Army took Finnish Karelien back at 1941 (Finns call it "continuation war"). It was the only choice. Soviet Union would have been the other choice. Seen what happened to Baltic countries... no way. Marshal Mannerheim despised Hitler and was even in correspondence with Churchill during the war.

I'm American and can appreciate how nations even lost can remain proud of their heritage. I can understand a nations culture defines it. So i can also appreciate the "old" Europre (pre wwi-wwii) and what you went through. America has a culture but its becoming too militaristic i would say. St.Perersburg was bombed because germany had to cut of Russia's line of advance and force them to surender, Petersburg was one of three targets for axis conquest of russia

Hitler has gone crazy, by the time USSR's forces pushed axis forces in Berlin, Hitler was moving fallen divisions on the map, and when his generals toled him that, that division was gone he would send that same officer to the front lines(and they got killed offcourse)

I like only the humanisit parts, the different cultures, the tragedy of war, suffering and lack of compassion, etc. I will leave the military parts to people who know much more about this than i do. @Slu4ainika Bulgaria is in my other video entitled "The Central Powers, World War I". If you read the description you'll find out as to why Bulgaria is not included in this video. The reasons are because Bulgaria itself never participated directly on the Eastern Front, although there were considerations by some military officials to send units directly to the front. The other reason is time constraints forced by YouTube when this video was being made.

But Hungarians who in August 1944 were sent to fight Warsaw uprising, instead sat down with their Polish brothers and some decided to turn their weapons against Wehrmaht. Subseguently, the rising turned out to be a provocation but they did not participate in anti-insurgent action. Slovaks were in similar situation in 9/39, they acted passively. So both nations did whatever they could best given the circumstances.

Finnish war was bit separated from axis. At winter 1939-1940 they fought alone against Stalin, lost some areas but kept independence. Finnish Army took Finnish Karelien back at 1941 (Finns call it "continuation war"). It was the only choice. Soviet Union would have been the other choice. Seen what happened to Baltic countries... no way. Marshal Mannerheim despised Hitler and was even in correspondence with Churchill during the war.

@torcidaSTobrec Maybe ? All Soldiers that left Stalingrad , left it as Prisoners of War in Russian Hands . Noone left Stalingrad by means of retreating from that location . Most or all Croatian troops had left eastern Front in 1943, because they where needed in former Jugoslavia were they fight very brave against Partisans together with the famous and honored Bosnian 13th SS-Waffen Gebirgs Division Handschar .

@Forlyn0 Thats right , the airfields where used to evacuate wounded and in last phase also Specialists, and this where not the last that left S-grad because the airfields where lost and fighting goes on in the last phase germans retreat to the City and the 6th Army were split in two .

Look in Sebipatrus Tankvideo and you see all the tanks that Romania recieved from germany ,the finns recieved very late only a few StuGIII . And first the Hgrp Süd and Mitte collapsed together with all the Romanians ,Italians Slovakian and Hungarys troops very ,very late the reteat begun in northern sector they hold out longer with all that hard fighting Baltic Mens in their own formations or in Waffen SS.

3 . Germany was helping Hungary with troops because :
a) they didnt trusted the hungarian army leaders;
b) You have a small population, and a even smaller army, so you needed help;
c) Romania was able to manage itself until the very end, when our Marschall proposed a plan to retreat and build a blocade against the advancing russians on our north-east border, giving at list 6 months of time to Germany to recover and strike back.
Ufortunately, he was betrayed and executed.

For all Please never forget that finland fought a moralic War not so my country and Romania,on the eastern Front we where Invaders (Not so in west were France and GB declared us the war first) They only defend his country against an aggressor. But they made not an Ambush war ,together with Hgrp Nord they made also offensive action against USSR around Leningrad and the Ladoga lake, but there where never so well equippt with german weapon like Romania.
