  • Hadn't listened to this song in like a year and then the riff suddenly popped into my head when i was lying awake in bed so I youtubed it and my mind was blown

  • @OllieL96 :O the exact same thing happened to me last night....and i was what the bloody hell?!?!

  • @sweeney665 Had the same experience 2 weeks ago lol....what the...

  • Everytime I think Muse has sold out with their recent stuff, I go back and listen to their old albums - Origins, Absolution, Showbiz - and their B-sides. Faith in the band = restored. MAKE MORE STUFF LIKE THIS PLZ.

  • soo confuuuuuuuUUUUUusssed <3

  • This song shouldn´t be a B-sides!!!!!!

  • the guitar riff is amazing <3!!!!

  • <3 This song totally rocks. first saw it on video of really gross piercings peeps got. kinda suits it some how

    tanscendental xxx

  • i admire matt, he's god, but hendrix would fuck em up in only 10 secons x)

  • This song is way a tight to be this short!!!

  • the solo reminds me little wing

  • i love matt i can marry him

  • Wicked tune. But the lyrics are rape and pillage *proves* to win the public vote, not prudence

  • 5 people missed the like button when they were dancin to this

  • one of my favorites songs of muse

  • @tSp289 You're right, except that the lyrics is

    "And delta comes again" ;)

  • @CarsonDenham listen again! there's two words, clearly distinguished. Definitely downtime ;)

If you're going on sleeve notes, they've often been wrong in the past because it's not actually muse who writes the sleeve notes. Several editions have been corrected.

  • @CarsonDenham

It's actually 'down-town' comes again...derp derp.. Dunno how anyone hears Delta?

  • @SystemGlitch911 Okay, I believe you, I just don't see how that makes sense :L

  • i love the bass guitar in this song. its so catchy. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THEY ROCK MY SOCKS OFF. lol :D

  • IMO one of the best Muse songs ever. By far the best, most original soloriffs. Blow their effin minds, Matt. Blow em to Krypton.

  • *cough* It's 'Rape and pillage -PROVES-, to win the public vote", not prudence.

Also "And DOWNTIME comes again...." , not Delta.

And yes, imo one of the best songs muse has ever produced.A bit more variation, Bring the solo out a little, and add a bit more snarl in the bass, and it would be perfect.

  • Yum.

  • bahaha! xD at 0:35 there is sakura xD

  • The whole world should experience this guitar riff theres so many songs that if they were released it would show up the lack of talent in pop and blow real listeners minds.

  • matts hair at 2:17... damn him!

  • where's matthew arm in 2:12????? =O

  • I'm pretty sure I have a new favourite Muse song.

  • ... WHY DO I LOVE THE B SIDES BETTER THAN THE A SIDES?? :L Although I love all of Muse !! - Not a song I dislike !!

  • wow, there's actually a muse song i like better than knights of cydonia, and this is it!! fucking b-a-d-a-s-s

  • wally 0:55

  • Wow. This gave me gooseflesh...

  • Muse - More of this, less generic piano stuff. PLEASE!

  • What way around? In any way you should not rate too fast.

Since I suppose you mean, that Undisclosed Desires is 'better', I'd recommend to listen to each Album from Muse from the latest to the first slowly. You'd then understand this one here a n d never want to hear anything else but Muse :) Not too much at least ;)

  • 2:03

I NEED THIS PIC NOW xD

  • this isnt on an album, was it an ep or something? can you get it besides limewire?

  • It was released with the Time Is Running Out single CD.

  • dom is fuckin epic

  • I'm pretty sure i'ts "rape and pillage prooves", not "Prudence" also it's not "Delta" it's "Down time"

The ones up there just aren't the kind of lyrics that Matt generally uses, he's simpler than that :)

  • I agree to both actually. fits the meaning of the song. =] I LOVE THIS SONG.

  • Does anyone agree that the riff going through the background of this song is EPIC! i love it...so addicting :)

  • yeh just after the guitar solo there's some epic mini solo matt is playing WHILE SINGING! he is god

  • @Xxxmusiclover95xxX : i agree :D

  • If only Jimi Hendrix were alive to hear this

  • He would have loved it, you can count on it!

  • Just like Fury and Eternally Missed, this song should have been on a studio album. Fury, in my opinion is there 4th best song after Thoughts of a Dying Atheist, Plug In Baby, and Butterflies and Hurricanes. But of course my favorite Muse songs changes weekly, last week my favorite was Hate This and I'll Love You :P

  • I agree, they should just release an album with all their B sides. some are absolute gems:

    do we need this?

please please let me get what I want

    spiral static

    jimmy kane

    etc

  • I agree but I would rather they put out HAARP 2. My idea is to have it be a live anthology, do four shows on four nights, each night coving an album and its related b-sides, amounting to every song they have ever recored, except done live which all Muse fans know is way way waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better!!!

  • that would be epic! :)

  • you have just described my dreams haha, if they did that it would be pure genius/ amazing

  • yeah! That would rool!

  • i think Matt regards fury as one of the best songs he has ever written, a shame it didnt get on an album

  • haha i know i change songs EVERY WEEK! xD i love muse :) currently this is my fav song this week

  • and downtime comes again

  • they all seem to like to fish alot!!!!!!

  • I think Muse should make a cd of all their B-Sides!! That would be pretty awesome.

Luv this song. So catchy just like all their other songs!! =D

  • eeeehrm , there is a CD with their b-sides , it's called "Do we need this?"

  • yeh but this wernt on it

  • @Glamagal12 Well they have got the Hullaballoo Soundtrack, but you're right. ALL the awesome B-sides should be put together in a sort of "Best of" CD, that'd be amazing. :D

  • @Glamagal12 "Do we need this?: B-sides and rarities"

  • @Glamagal12 It's called "Do We Need This?"

  • @ShaunTighe That's actually a fan made CD! still good tho

  • @Glamagal12 wats B-side?

  • @Glamagal12 They did. Hullabaloo Soundtrack. :)

  • i LOVE this song.. it sticks in my head for about a year...

its really loud on my ipod for some reason though lol the begining is PAINFUL. painful but brilliant...

  • you've gotten some of the lyrics wrong

    Rape and pillage PROVES

    And DOWN TOWN comes again

  • this sounds rather like hypermusic... by muse... but obvs not quiet the same...

    well good though:)

  • I was just going to say the same thing. Darn, beaten by one month.

  • I thought it sounded a quite a bit like Cave. :P

  • Amazing song!didn't know it!

a lot of Muse's b-side are great songs...like this one!

    ps nice video editing!

  • i notice it kinda sounds like a slower version of hyper music

  • hyper chondriac music is basically the slower verion of hyper music

  • "So here it is again

    Rape and pillage Prudence

    To win the public vote".

It should be: not 'prudence', prooves. And not 'pillage', village.

    And: "And Delta comes again"

It's 'and down that comes again.'.

BTW., amazing song. I love it.

  • This, Fury and Futurism. Three of the most under-rated Muse songs..

  • and glorious!

  • I wish Muse released a CD with all B-Sides, they're to good to be B-Sides.. Groove alone is better than en entire normal rock band.

  • Yep...

  • Well Hullabaloo is all b-sides, with the exception of Hyper Music played slow and the second cd. God i wish Muse would play Hyper Music again live.

  • Can The Groove catch the not-muse-listener?

  • yes

  • Yes, I actually use The Groove to "welcome" people into Muse if they haven't heared them before. It's an awesome song, and not to "odd". Yeh, Hullabaloo is nice, but there's like 10x more B-sides out there=)

  • so confuuuusssssssssseeeeeeeeee

  • im gonna get slated for this if no1 agrees hahaha, but its got a hendrixy vibe to it in a way, a muse way =]

  • ye, matt was influenced by Hendrix

  • have u heard the startin MINT!

  • wata tune!! love u muse<3

  • @onluv1life: It's a mirror manson, made by Hugh Manson.

    Great song, great vid.

  • 0:37 seconds in... SO WRONG YET SO RIGHT LOL!!! Matt loves pink!

  • Didn't much care for this song at first but now i ADORE it!!!

  • Well it's not hard but I would say so.

But it's one thing learning a song and being able to play it, and another thing to make it actually sound good.

  • Playing it with my band, as well as newborn, on October 21st.

  • can you give me them please? :)

  • someone know the tabs?

  • oh my god i love these pics! dominics yellow pants, matt playing poker by himself, and most of all...THE MIRROR GUITAR!!! does anyone know what kind it is??

so confused when you're lost in the groove...

  • The Mirror Guitar is a Manson Miror "Earls Court"

    Custom Build for Matt

  • on ultimate guitar it says this is a novice song!!!! Maybe i just suck at guitar but, it's really hard to play!!!

  • It isn't overly hard, but should definitely be listed as higher than novice. Good riff.

  • Keep trying:)

once you get it it's a really grooving and fun song to play. I'd say it's a little bit hard for a novice, but keep going.

  • so confused..

when you`re lost in yhe groove...

  • i can also see me making my children listen to muse and they will be like wtf is this and ill be like IT'S MUSE LISTEN.

  • haha. same here n they just be like wtf dad you old cunt!

  • LOL 2:04 calm down matt srsly.

  • Man you guys (or gals...) spend too much time writing a message. No matter how long it is, Muse are better. Muse FTW!

  • ok so why arent these guys bigger than they are here in the states this song could have been a huge hit on the alternative rock charts i love muse one of my fav bands like radiohead & coldplay.

  • haha your just like me

  • muse = amazing

  • this really is one of my favourite muse songs ever and i am a HUGE fan the solo's great the vocals are great the drums and great and the riff is legendary...plus i just learnt this riff n bass its great fun a little bit of a challenge for new bassist but good to learn

  • hullabolo

  • No it's not, it's a B-side on 'Time is running out'

  • What album is this song on?

  • its a b-side...from the time is running out single as far as i know....

  • one off there best b-sides, thanks for uploading the song:)

  • this song makes me want to drink.. I like it

  • im a big muse fan and i only heard this 5mins ago 4 the 1st time!!!

    when did they record it?

  • B-Side from Absolution so 2002 i guess

  • this is one of my favorite songs by them. it's a shame it's so hard to find.

  • This song started out pretty awesome for me, and since I found it two days ago I've found it's been playing in my head without me realizing it. With each listening, it gets better and better... there's just something about it that I can't figure out, but it's more addictive than any drug could ever be to me.

  • ahh! why is this song so great? i love it!

  • because its by muse!! :D

    i love it too!!!

  • Unbelievable. I'm listening to Muse for almost 2y now. Never getting bored, just discovered that song now... GREAT!

  • I lol'd when you coloured in Matt's hair different colours. Great choice of photos, and an amazing song - nice video!

  • Matthew Bellamy is My Idol.

I'm trying to play Guitar, and get famous...ALL TO MEET MATTHEW BELLAMY.

    My goal of life ^

  • Best goal ever! :D

  • muse...cuold it bee better?!? what would the world do with out muse!?! i love matthew<'3

  • Two mistakes in the lyrics- it should say "Rape and pillage proves", not "Prudence", and it should say "downtown comes again", not "Delta".

  • I'm pretty damn sure he says "Delta" not "downtown". It clearly sounds like Delta (Though I could see how someone would assume it's "downtown"). But also, the line right after that (..her masks are shifting...) is in direct reference to Delta, so it can't be "downtown", it just wouldn't make any sense.

Yeah the "rape pillage" part is confusing, he doesn't sound like he's saying "Prudence", but it doesn't really make sense using "proves". Also every other lyric sheet I've seen says "Prudence".

  • So here it is again Rape and pillage proves To win the public vote Someone tell me who will take the prize And who takes the fall So confused When you're lost in the groove So confused When you're lost in the groove And down-town comes again And her masks are shifting like a chameleon Someone tell me why she breaks my fall And then breaks my heart
  • Muse is my favourite band ever. But I think its pretty pointless comparing Matthew Belameys Guitar skills with Hendrix, because they are different and there will be some people who will prefer Matts and some Jimi, however, it is definite that both are amazing musicians, and definitely world class. Hopefully one day Muse will really break into America and become absolutely world famous, until then they are still the best band in Britain.

  • Oh boy Brain, don't be surprised if you get thumbed down 5 times >.>. Coldplay's way too soft and repetitive really, but their songs have nice melodies.

  • I'm not surprised I did get thumbed down 6 times haha. I like Muse more than Coldplay, of course. But saying Muse is bigger than Coldplay is a lie...

I was making an objective statement... And I do hope Muse grows bigger.

  • I called that thumbs down too >.>

  • Have ABSOLUTELY nothing against Coldplay but better than Muse? Nah!

  • Oh christ. I pulled a wrong string there didn't I! Plus, Muse sold out 2 nights at Wembley? I'd say, and this is my opinion so don't have a go at me again, that Muse are b.i.g.g.e.r than Coldplay! Just my opinion though!

  • My opinion is that Sweden is in Africa then.

Now, to the point, to kill this topic:

Coldplay total studio albums sold worldwide (3 releases); 31,2 Million

Muse total studio albums sold worldwide (4 Releases); 11,9 Million

Coldplay haven't played a concert that wasn't sold out in 3 years, and neither have Muse, with Coldplay playing at bigger capacity venues on average.

You just can't compare them popularity-wise, but I'm happy to be in the smaller audience that Muse appeals to.

  • Muse may have less albums sold, but what about all the people who download illegaly, there could possibly be more muse fans that do that, maybe it is that Muse is smaller, but i will always say they are a bigger band untill Coldplay sell out three nights at Wembley. =)

Love this song, and its fun to play on guitar too :D

  • Who cares if Coldplay are more popular, so were The Spice Girls, and they were still shit. Sometimes people just have bad taste ;).

  • muse may not be as bigg as coldplay and that crap in record sales but they are the world's foruners in live shows i mean can u honestly think of any live band better than them this will make them one of the legendary, defining bands of the future i think they will be what led zeppelin is to us now in 20 or 30 years

plus there style ofprog rock will most definently influence hundreds of new bands for the future for this reason they are one of the world biggest and best bands in the music scene

  • yeah i agree and the thing with muse is, like this song im sure coz i had never heard it until the other day, all of their songs are good really, and the instrumentals are quality, matt is a great guitarist full of ideas

  • Well, considering the US' massive audience (We're a nation of 300 million), a lot of people consider the US as the determinant for true stardom (I personally don't, but I see the point). Muse is well-known and respected around the world to just about the same extent as Coldplay (maybe even a little more), but because they're not as popular as Coldplay is in America, Muse's popularity is a little tarnished. Muse is def. in the top 3 of the biggest international rock bands today though.

  • what chart places hae some of there songs gotten in america... all i have heard is that they are quite big in the new york area. i agree with you saying they are in the top 3 world wide. like japan austrailia eastern europe and of corse britain and france and they really do deserve it and as i said they will be one of those bands the world will remember for decades.

  • It's sad, they're highest charting, and therefore most popular, song in America was "Starlight". I liked Starlight sincerely before it was the second single here, but I hate that the song that is least representative of their talent is the one that is the most popular here.

  • Fortunately though Knights of Cydonia, Hysteria did pretty well, as well as Supermassive Black Hole

Outside those 3 though, they haven't done too well here, and those 4 songs are probably the most popular Muse songs in America.

BH&R debuted at number 10 also, so it's a small but capable fanbase. Nothing compared to what Coldplay has done here though.

  • no. 10 isnt bad at atall... shame origin of symetry didnt do that well isnt it...plug in baby, space dementia and the legendary Hypermusic...they certainly deserved to get a good chart placing. i've seen the hysteria video for america that was really cool

  • Yeah OoS had some release issues here in America. The record label that works with them for the US had some disputes with Muse's original label and so the album wasn't released until like '05 or '06 here in the states.

  • thats a shame its a great album

  • i cant wait to be 80 years old still headbangin to muse, i wonder will anyone still remember them then, (53 years )

  • Of corse they will damnit (lol) well i will force my kids to do so, and they will force there kids and so forth the legend of muse will live on for ever!!!!.

  • Time Is Running Out did well on mtv, but that is probably mostly from the video being so cool

  • MUSE broke America very early in their career due to being signed to an American record label first. Most of their tour dates cover America--each concert is sellout. They don't top the charts but MUSE don't do that much in the UK either. Besides that, no band has to break America to become world famous! You know Robbie Williams is almost unknown in the US but is internationally famous everywhere else. For movies sure, go for America... but for music? Not so much...

  • Ok good point. What you have said is very true, and yea Muse have never really made the charts even in England, but you know what I mean, if you break America it becomes a lot better for a band to keep succeeding.

  • I find artists become lazy when they go to America. The lifestyle screws them up I think. Once you are loved by the American public it can become easy to just churn out the same crap they want because American music tastes are quite rigid. That's where the phrase "break America" comes from in the first place--due to the fact they are very picky about their music. Making it big in Europe is probably first priority for bands. Especially the UK... London is to music what Hollywood is to movies.

  • I guess its like Joss Stone. I didnt mind her until she became a c**t after she "broke America"

  • I don't think it is the life-style but rather resources become much more available, say advertisement, and the band does not feel they have to work as hard to achieve the same recognition. By "breaking America" it just means getting notice by corporations that then will pay to use song, etc. and indirectly advertise for the band.

  • Damn, THIS is ROCK!

  • I'm crazy when i listen this song.

  • same ^^

  • great Lyrics I think.

And very different from their other songs, but thats not a bad thing.

And I love the 'wow' at 1:52 =D

  • well muse is like alot of bands really (but muse is my fave) but theres bound to be bands that muse sound like or "copied" which is aload of bull shit (scuse my french lol)

they sound like radiohead , jimi hendrix... but theres always gonna be bands that sound like other bands...just pointing out ....

btw matthew bellamy is the god! i love him lottttssssssss xxxxxxxxxxx

  • Matthew Bellamny is indeed God.

  • I LOVE the Groove, tis my favourite B-side! :)

  • Matt Bellamy is God

  • awesome song i'd say.

  • Please check out my cover of the groove, I think you ll dig it!!

  • LOL. the wig part.
