Cool video. I recently discovered an old jeep pickup back in the woods in my town. No Idea what engine or transmission are in it (pretty sure its a 360 because it def looks like a smaller v8 engine). No Idea what year it is. All the windows have been smashed and the steering wheel is stolen too. I do know that it has full time 4x4 that can be turned on and off from a switch in the glove box. I opened the hood and there were mounds of rust flakes where the hood meets the top of the grille.
Wait, did he say Quadra-trac gives improved fuel economy???? ROFL!!! I loved my '74 J10 with the Quadra-trac, but I can guarantee it didn't help with fuel economy over my '85 J20 with the NP208. Of course the '74 was spinnin' a bored, stroked 401 and the '85 is only a mildly built 360, so...
i call bulls**t on the fancy box they put on these. said it lasts longer, well i can damn near stick my fist through the side of the box on my jeep lol
@jeepjseries Hell, those things were rust-flappin' in the breeze by 1979(as were the rest f the domestic trucks on the road). Hard to find one of these trucks even moderately intact here in the Midwest/Great lakes region.
@muddinlarry Pretty cool seeing yourself from the outside, eh? The older bumper was probably something left over or the fact that this was an early '73 model probably filmed in the late summer of '72.
@texaskev09 Thanks! These were the days when American iron was really unique!! At least Jeep is keeping up with most of that originality in the Wrangler series... just wish that they made a diesel!
Unfortunately no. I'd still like to find more 60s-80s commercials, but it seems that no one seemed to think that they would be worth archiving back then. I'll post more when and if I find more.
