Good to see Andrew Siff at WNBC. First knew of him from when he was at that crappy station in Buffalo, WKBW, which company (Granite) went into bankruptcy in 2007 or so. It must a pleasure for him to work with professionals, instead of having idiots in charge.
I don't live in NY, but WNBC's newsroom/set is way too generic for a NY station. As a newsroom, the advances in technology work really well. It is a good set for NY Nightly News, but they really need a new set for the News4 broadcasts. They could build a new set close to the "Content Center" and use the same technology in the new set. In addition, WNBC needs to add either a Noon or a 5pm broadcast, or possibly both a Noon and 5pm newscast
You can obviously can tell that this "Content Center" is so mid/small market kind of set. The "newsroom", (dare I say) is like the size of WVIT's or WJAR's, just probably a couple thousand sq. feet bigger! I bet WCAU's newsroom is even bigger than WNBC's!
And those cameras by the corners of the reporters desks? Those Sony cams you can find in school board chamber rooms. in ittybitty towns! I guess WNBC wants a "Small Apple" mentality, instead of "The Big Apple" I guess.
Seeing as they're in 30 Rock, it's kinda hard to have a huge newsroom. Also, since when has a school board had expensive HD cameras? The quality of the cams are nearly broadcast quality, I'm sure they each cost over $1000k
Oh sorry - no they don't have that kind of money for HD. The one I was referring was SDI. And some community are lucky through franchise agreements with the cable systems for them to pay for it.
Well, you have been in the same studio for almost three and a half decades, and this format just threw out all the history in Studio 6B in the dumpster! Yeah, you had that set for five years, but there were other sets (remember the control room set from the initial N4NY days) that were there longer!
Well, we're sorry you feel that way. Everyone will eventually get used of our content center. At least we didn't throw our "we're 4 new york" campaign away.
Wow-- WNBC's new image is quite impressive. That set is by far the best local news set in the country. Graphics are nice and big budget, but still clean and simple. Well done, WNBC.

Well, we have been with the same set for over 5 years. It's time for something new.

I have a feeling that the same designers for NBC/MSNBC did WNBC's set also. Were the graphics done by NBC Arthouse?

I mean Artworks. I had Hothaus on my mind for some reason.
