#1) The reason they never say "Successful 'White' Woman" is because they DON'T HAVE TO! Lest we forget, "Whites" are the "MAJORITY" population.
#2) They actually *DO* say "Successful 'White' Woman"... not in so many words, but the "principle" is clearly implied in the all-encompassing label: "Successful [smart/educated/liberated/etc.] Woman" -- again, with 'whites' being the majority population, no "racial" qualifiers are required.
I remember this one. A good podcast. However, it will fall of the deaf ears of the current generation of American sistas. Perhaps the next generation will observe...and learn.
Before a woman looks at a certain type or caliber of men and listing all these criteria, look at yourself and see what you have to offer? Would you meet HIS criteria? You know what you want in him, but what do you have to make him want you? I've seen some fat girls saying they don't want an ugly dude and want a guy who is 6 feet and above with a nice body.
Most black women seem to be looking for the guys that make $100,000 + and those are few and far between. If you are a black woman who is a high school counselor or something makng $25,000 a year, you can easily find a black man who is a santiation worker or UPS driver making $50,000. They are looking at guys who are way above their class, while looking down on those who are on their level or even a little above.
Lol...I thought I was the only one who saw this They act as if they are all some type of doctor or lawyers . Please. I saw an episode on Oprah about some single black women who were saying they like to fly first class and can't find any men on their level. How many people really fly first class? Most people in this country black or white or any other group do not ake close to six figures, which most of these women at like the make. They need to be more realistic.
I have just decided to spend my time being the best woman I can be and not focusing on what men, white people, or anyone for that matter thinks of me. I am a sexy, beautiful, successful and HAPPY. People regardless of what color they are will let you down. This is a fact!
one of many black female sterotypes is that we are uneducated, ghetto, baby breeding, welfare collectors...and in every stereotype there is a margin of truth, not all black women fit the sterotype and they are the ones who get the comment. so its not insulting to the reciever of the comment as much as it is to the non- recievers....
White people, black people?! this shit is getting tired people. We all have the same opportunities... but still everyone is NOT educated. Woman have to play these roles nowadays cos our men are either in prison or fucking homeless addicts on the street corners. You do have a point there but everyone makes their own choices. Don't judge other females by one high-school-counsellor! You men need to step up and learn how to take care of things again instead of pointing fingers!
To the Author: at :57, you never hear the term " Educated White Woman" Or "Successful White Woman" because Mass Media has NOT made it an issue, but they have for blacks in America. Ever wonder why we still hear "First Black President This".. Or First Black Male Athlete this,.... or " First Black Female this in that. Black Women didn't come up with all of this tomfoolery..... Please!!!
The truth is no matter if you are a honkey lover living in the guetto or if you are a successful mammy slave and a race traitor living with the honkies in the suburb the enemies of our people sitll perceive you asd the same thing.
The term successful black woman usual means anything more than $28,00 dollars a year. High School Counselor, pay roll analyst. These are jobs that don't pay much more than 30k a year but these are the ones you see on the shows saying that they can't find black men on their level. It's a joke. I've been saying what he said for a long time. These ABC and CNN shows are designed to entertain white people and make them feel better about their situation. And a lot of the women by into it.
@blkskin1, I get what your saying blkskin1. But don't you think that your example would be considered a "select group who are choosing to buck the system" as opposed to the majority though? Cgirl2020
@Creditgirl2020 remember...the norm is what you see everyday...the exception is...what is brought out by stats, media and the occasional sista we all know who beat the odds and does stand on her own two feet. I deal with women on a regular basis in my profession and and 90% tell their business with no shame at all. The "majority" are the females referred to in this vid. The exceptions are the women they may get to hang out with every blue moon.
@Creditgirl2020 ...also..in response to your comment about "educated white women"...and "first black President"...
The "educated/succesful black woman" cliche was bait for weak minded black females who's main flaw is vanity. President Obama IS The first black president. There were presidents in the past that were of mixed heritage but they claimed to the public that they were white. A black president that acknowledges his african ancestry and looks black is a first in American history
@blkskin1 Then they aint educated negro. And while we are on the topic More black men are unemployed and in jail but you find one video on that. Black males are just haters.
@kmcl11 Are you saying that there are black females that are on public assistance who are not college educated?.....I'm afraid you are underestimating the black female and have thus trivialized her. Are you sure you are a supporter of the black female?
@blkskin1 I am saying that is not the norm. When you come out with these numbers its usually to attack. And I am not underestimating them. You are the one who said college educated. This is a laugh. I would love to hear the numbers of BM who aren't college educated and aren't trying, and...live at home in the 30s and 40s. When you come out with a stat, be carful to follow it thru.
@kmcl11 The truth is that there are college educated black females who are on welfare, date thugs, and have multiple kids by multiple men. You are supposed to attack a plaque. It is unhealthey and deracinates our community. There is no defending the hoodrat black female. If thats how you like them fine but for the men who make better choices we know what is toxic and unsuitable
@blkskin1 The truth is, you are just another troll with no numbers to back up your facts. How many college educated BM are there anyway? NOT MUCH. Now that is a stat for you. BTW BM have more OOW kids than BW...GO FIGURE! You hate the women but love the men , who are doing WORSE (they rape and murder and you kind makes no mention of it). Goodle Dunbar Village.
@kmcl11 you said..." The truth is, you are just another troll with no numbers to back up your facts. How many college educated BM are there anyway? NOT MUCH. Now that is a stat for you."...
Where are your stats to back that up? ...and with that ...if you cant back up the stats of black boys being categorized....then dont waste your time with me .
Of course someone in cooperate America will make that kind of money. I'm talking about the kind who go on TV brag about $28,000 jobs as if they're doing something special. And actually according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average black male still earns more than the average black female. Only by about 5 percent more but still. Not sure what the numbers are for blacks but women outnumber every race in education now because they're given WAY more grants, scholarships and AA.
@kuunami You know what...that means the the black male is really really low if 30k is considered successful! lol Only 35% of young black men graduate.....sad.
Good video.

I have to disagree on these two points:
#1) The reason they never say "Successful 'White' Woman" is because they DON'T HAVE TO! Lest we forget, "Whites" are the "MAJORITY" population.
#2) They actually *DO* say "Successful 'White' Woman"... not in so many words, but the "principle" is clearly implied in the all-encompassing label: "Successful [smart/educated/liberated/etc.] Woman" -- again, with 'whites' being the majority population, no "racial" qualifiers are required.

I wouldnt go as far as to say its an insult, but it is a racist comment.
if someone called me educated and/or successful, i would accept the compliment for what it is, and just shake my head at the ignorance.

success is also a vauge term, there are different standards depending who u speak to. success for me may not be success for you and vice versa.
there seems to be a deeper issue here, rooted no doubt in interalized racisim.
