  • I was watching this game on the TV at NMQ. things got downright stupid after the fumble at the end!

  • wow want to talk about balance kustok over 300 yd passing and anderson over 250 yd running

  • i was at this game, i hate the sound of that damn wildcat. really dissapointed in the outcome but the next time i made the trip in 04 we got the better of you

  • It's not crazy to say this IS the greatest college football game ever played. True, it wasn't for a championship but (i) it was a packed house and nationally televised, (ii) it had a perennial cinderella against a perennial power, (iii) the emotional and scoreboard swings were endless, (iv) there was a twist at the end when you were sure Michigan had won after Damien's drop, and (v) the game changed college football by launching the spread offense. Oh, and the final score was 54-51!

  • As a Florida Gator born and bred fan---This was one of the best games I remember EVER seeing. GREAT GAME! I love Damian Anderson.

  • I'm a huge Michigan fan, but I like NU; would've gone there over U of M

This was a great game. It's sad that besides NU's last drive the end of the game was characterized by 3 huge mistakes (I'm counting the bad snap on the fg at the end as one of them, cause with Epstein's leg, I'd say that fg was 50-50.

Never thought I'd see the day Michigan scores 50 and loses, but NU did not deserve to lose this one so it made it easier. Especially since the A-Train's accomplishments overshadow fumble

  • @goblue10nis

"great" game in my eyes, if you can have a great game and lose, (when you can fall down and win). My dad I think still refuses to admit it happened, but he's more of a 3 yards and dust Big Ten purist.

  • I was watching as a neutral, but still rooting for the underdogs NU, turned off the TV in disgust when Anderson dropped the pass and missed the ending. Well, I learned my lesson!. Kustok, what a player.

  • Besides the 1949 Rose Bowl victory (NU's only Bowl victory), the 1995 Penn State game was the biggest win in history. But the 2000 Michigan win was the most exciting game in NU history.

  • I am a die hard wildcats fan. Me and my dad went to this game. it was one of the greatest game ever.

  • Big (297) Ten (255) = 552. When you multiply 552 X 2 you get 1104 which mirrors 11/04 the date of this game. i

  • Coach Randy Walker passed away 20060629, 2063 days from this da (20001104). 2063 is 105 from 1958 which was the advent of the 23rd "I (9) Am (14)" cycle of 89 which is the prime of Leo (356) = 89 prime X 4. The final score, 54-51 adds up to 105.

  • I'm an NU alum and was a 5th string walk-on QB for the wildcats during the late summer of 1976. I witnessed the dark-dark days of the late 70's to early 80's. I quit the team under coach Pont and was so fed up with them losing that I tried to walk back onto the team in 1979 under coach Venturi. A long story for another venue. There's an incredible spirit and power behind the NU "wild cats" - something about Lake Michigan, the water, Chicago, whatever.

  • Ever since the NU upset over Notre Dame early in 1995 I have been doing more praying than watching during these incredible games. This game found me in a hammock reading a book while praying for an NU victory while my family was screaming and yelling out the highlights from our hotel room inside Disneyworld. I saw only bits and pieces of the early part of this game. I committed myself to praying for an NU win and never left the hammock until the incredible win was booked. Whew!!

  • What I don't get about this game is how the entire 2nd half is at night. But seeing 1995 Penn State at Northwestern on Big Ten's Greatest Games, there was still some daylight until the end of the third quarter.

Both games were played at 3:30 on November 4th after the clocks had been set back to standard time. Did this game just have way more commercials and time outs than the '95 one or something.

  • If I recall correctly, the game approached 4.5 hours and the slow pace of the clock didn't just happen in the 2nd half. It was a long one.

  • @Knightmessenger Yeah, NUBears is right. This game was INSANELY long. There was so much scoring that they kept going to commercial breaks and it just extended the game. I was watching this game in my dorm at Ohio State and it basically echoed through the hallways. We were all just so entertained by it because it was like playing NCAA on the Playstation.

  • Even though im a michigan fan, this was probably one of the best games i have seen in CF. Northwestern deserved to win this game. nice job NW

  • Everytime I see a game played at Northwestern on tv, it looks like a fun place to watch a game.

  • Great as this game was, this must have been a defensive coordinators worst nightmare.

  • @SFFOOL76 lol

  • if Thomas does not fumble that's a touchdown

  • Not just a touchdown, but a Rose Bowl appearence

  • but it WAS a fumble. and NU won!

  • YES! Such an amazing, amazing game. Thank you for giving us highlights of both sides.

  • Is there a way I can get a copy of this from you? The only copy I have is from ESPN Classic and it sounds horrible

  • beastly ness

  • is this the original b'cast?

  • Yeah, this is the original broadcast.
