  • Use this whenever teachers call me up. Always work

  • Out of curiosity, do many of today's military officers train themselves in the aspect of "no mind?" If not, I think it should be a recommended thing to do

  • @sadlobster1 Don't be silly. There's no need to throw lousy terms like "no mind" and such, no need to make it all mystical. The world you are searching for is concentration. I think most soliders have that, what's more, a lot of civils too. So please, don't make some voodoo out of it, it may mislead some minds into useless fantasies. Pax

  • @LiutendantJack777 I agree with some of what you're saying. Using a term like "no mind" does make it seem weird.

But how exactly can some of today's soldiers use the same kind of concentration the Samurai used in battle, when most of today's combat is just point the machine gun/rifle and shoot? I know some gunners like Snipers need a lot more concentration but they're probably the only ones

  • @sadlobster1 well for once, with machine guns and assault rifles on the battlefield, you need a lot more concentration to stay alive. :D Okay that was a joke. This film is an artistic depiction of war, fighting style, and feeling, the reality must have been much "greyer". The term "no mind" is the product of an era with no war, just free time to think about fighting, but not actualy doing it. In a real fight, if you're prepared, you do things, and don't think about them.

  • @LiutendantJack777 Let that be with a sword, or a machine gun. Whatever your ideals may be about fighting, they have no real use in a fight, so there's no need to bother yourself with them outside a fight either. You just need to concentrate and do what you learned.

  • @LiutendantJack777 The thing I've learned long ago is that it's not the weapons that matter in combat, it's the warrior and how they use said weapons that really matters. The sad thing is; some people are thinking more about the weapons now, not the "warrior."

With all the warheads and missiles the world's military has now; I'll bet we'll all decide to stop training soldiers and just send a missile to simply blow up the country

  • it is exactly the weapons that matter in combat. if you wanna win you fight with the best way availible. for example most people who trained the in japan during the more peaceful times after sekigahara though sword fight was one sword against an other. Then there comes Miyamoto Musashi and becomes famous for using two swords at once, defeating everyone in his way, becouse he had a better way to fight. Using missiles is just a better way of fighting.Even warrior thinks about weapons.

  • @LiutendantJack777 Are you sure, I've always heard that the warrior mattered just as much as the weapon. Since you mentioned Musashi, let me tell you of another equally famous swordsman from Japan.

His name was Tsukahara Bokuden and he was behind the idea of fighting, without actually fighting. So you see; the blade is only as powerful as the wit and skill of the warrior using it.

    But I could be wrong

  • @sadlobster1 yeah i heard the Bokuden story. thing is, you can't really win anything by fighting, that's reality. but sometimes people still fight, for whatever reasons, and you can't always cheat your way out of it. people matter who use weapons. it matters what they use them for, but practicaly thinking, the weapon you choose is more important in a fight than what your beliefs are. truth is, when you really have to fight to survive you'll want to use the best weapons.

  • @LiutendantJack777 I disagree. I think over-thinking can often lead to a persons downfall. You must be able to trust your body. Instead of thinking (or overthinking) you simply do. Next time you play a sport you enjoy, try not to think, just do. It's difficult not to think but I guarantee you will perform better.
