Andre Previn orchestrated the music for some of Julie's movies. He also directed the orchestra on her Japanese tours. He was the music professor of my pastor's wife years ago, and she speaks highly of him. Julie's voice is wonderful, clear and always sweet. Love that lady!!
What a great combination. Julie Andrews on vocals with Andre Previn and the LSO backing her up. Previn no doubt had a hand in the orchestration as well, resulting in a marvelously sounding piece of music.
@rredhawk You're right. Actually, Julie and her late husband Blake have been long time friends of the Previn's and he did indeed orchestrate all of her songs for A Christmas Treasure. I've always thought that her voice sounded even more illustrious in this album and Previn's tailor made orchestrations for Julie's voice could be why.
I saw the TV show as a kid and feel in love with this carol when I heard Julie sing it. What an amazing voice she had, I was transfixed. Thank you Julie for sharing such a wonderful gift.
Man the orchestration just doesn't fit this piece at ALL. Singing is good, but the orchestration is so alien to this piece.
