  • Nice try, but the English version is not worth the original french one.

  • From telling from her voice its from the 90's. Maybe during her ray of light era. Her voice doesn't sound like this anymore.

  • I can feel the sadness!! Love it geat job M.

  • She's perfect! She's unique! She's pure emotion! Beautiful version of the song. I can on and on...

  • Bad Madonna photoshop pic..

  • What makes a singer to be a good singer isn't only the vocal technic, but first the color of the voice and the power it has to touch us, carring emotion. And I definitily thinks Madonna's voice has a beautiful color and brings us a lot of emotion. So, Madonna is a good singer! It ins't necessary to be La Callas: Madonna is enough! That's a fantastic interpretation. Remebering that it is so difficult to sing a classic like that.

  • great song and madonna make it even better!

  • She was going to use this dong in the Musical she was going to write and produce called Hello Suckers. The project was abandoned!

  • Hopefully more ballads of Madonna soon...xx

  • I prefer the original composer and singer Jacques Brel (1959)

  • dusty springfields - if you go away... is so much beter !!!!!

  • Mmm, i'm not too fond of her vocals in this. The song is dreary, and doesn't do her voice justice. I heard this song first by Emilíana Torrini, and liked it then, so maybe shes just my first impression of the song. Madonna can sing, there's no doubt there.

  • Nice!

  • (-•.•)- Madonna -(•.•-)

  • This is italian songgggggg WOW

  • @ERGATTOMATTO It's a french song by an excellent belbian Jacques Brel!

  • @sergsfault She doesn't try to be Maria Callas, as she has told MANY times she's really conscious of her vocal limitations. Otherwise she tells about things she wants to talk as many few others and that's what we like from her (apart from many other things) because being an artist (including a singer) is not just having a beautiful voice. I do not like singers who just have a beautiful voice.

  • @MilosBrune , a beautiful voice doesn't do you squat if the songs you are recording are run of mill ho-hum stuff. .

  • good!!!! PERO LA MEJOR ES LA PIAF!!!!!!!!

  • is good that she made cover also of this. Back to the roots of great musicians!

  • NE ME QUITTE PAS. THIS IS AN OLD SONG COVERED ESPECIALLY BY NINA SIMONE. CLASSIC.

  • its probably about Guy .... Madonna, I have always felt is a lonely girl, after she lost her mother at such a young age she has always been searching for love.... no one can replace your mum,

  • @madjoolie13 - This song was written over 50 years ago. Check out the version by Dusty Springfield.

  • @tcfan68 .I don't think so. The original is "Ne Me Quitte Pas" from famous belgian singe rJacques Brel, already covered by Nina Simone, and hundreds of singers (David Bowie i think, Brian Molko...).

  • @slihfshf - Oh I don't mean the original was by Dusty- it was written in 1959. I just love her version the most. Madonna's one of my favorite singers, but I really don't like her version, that's why I said to check out Dusty's.

  • @madjoolie13 omg enough with the mother thing already she probably doenst even remmebr her...and i really doubt she wake sup every morning morning that loss..its kinda sick how she's been using that horrible incident all her life for publicity...

  • @sergsfault Are you fucking kidding me? You don't know how she feels or how that has effected her. What's sick is you accusing her of that, and being so insensative. How do you know how often she thinks about it, huh? Using it for publicity? She rarely speaks about it publically, but she's not going to deny that it happened either. Also she didn't need any extra publicity. Everything she does is news. The LAST thing she would want publicity for is her mother's death. Like, come on now. Get real.

  • ok sick was a strong word i'm sorry but she did use it for publicity i saw an interview with her once and she was asked about some personal trauma bla bla bla..and she was like omg let me think..oh yeah i lost my mother at such a young age ...well it didnt sound exactly like this but i pretty much covered it...ok you'll probably think i'm a heartless monster anywyas..cos i cant explain what i ment i didnt mean it to sound this bad

  • @sergsfault She didn't USE it for publicity, she just didn't deny it.

  • @madjoolie13

she stopped searching when her first child was born

  • @madjoolie13 This is not her song, it's from a Musical, and is an adaptation of "Ne me quitte pas", a famous french song

  • @madjoolie13 It's from a musical, she didn't write about. She just performed it..and amazingly at that!

  • speechless. incredible. I hope this is her playing because I've always felt that Madonna would be a great pianist. Either way, I love it. Is this about her father? ... "we'll meet again" "worship the wind" "if you go away, if I know you must" interesting........

  • Love the dress she's wearing

  • WOW!!! Madonna you go girl! this song is unlike anything she has ever sang before. it's sad, dark, but so beautiful.

  • Beautiful song.

  • "If You Go Away" is a song in English based upon the French song "Ne me quitte pas" (1959), written by Jacques Brel. The English lyrics were written by Rod McKuen.

  • i konow:))

  • THIS IS NOT A NEW SONG, IT'S A COVER AND IT'S OLD

  • Very deconstructed...very pretty!
