  • Livgren reminds me a lot of Alex Lifeson. He's found more ways to shred a semi-hollow Gibson LS guitar than just about anyone else in rock

  • luther ive looked.. nothing found.. this is good...kansas is awesome..kerry is a legend.. ill keep looking

  • Is there a kansas live version of Nobody's Home anywhere?

  • There are several boots out there with NH and There is no place like home has it too!

  • Hey Bud what are the dates on the boots with Nobody's Home?

  • 1) 1998-07-01 - Chastain Park Amphitheater Atlanta

    2)1998- Always Never The Same

    3)Symphony Show

Looks like it was part of their 1998 set list

  • I'd love a copy from a show with the original 6 from their prime!

  • If I find NH from the original 6 I'll let you know.

  • Thanks ASFB!

  • I've posted a live version from 7/1/1998 in Atlanta, Georgia with a symphony Orchestra.

  • Although filmed recently, this is actually more how the song sounded originally, as these guys WERE Kansas from 1971-1973. DoMNS was theirs before it was done by the lineup that made it big. Belexes is another tune they did before Kansas III. Too bad the sound on this isn't better. Proto-Kaw (Early-Kansas) is a blast live!

  • For some reason, saxophone solos just don't sound right in a song like "Death of Mother Nature Suite" and he's no Stan Getz.

  • You're totally right!

  • I miss the early Kansas version with Steinhart singing the shit out of this song live, wished there was a Kansas version of this tune on Youtube

  • Actually, there are of couple of early Kansas version of this song on YouTube, if you look hard enough. Check them out!

  • I love Livgren, and our band played with his band in '85 in Norman, OK. The idea of so-called 'heavy' or progressive rock as a form of creative evangelical rebellion is totally passe in 2007. It's akin to the idea that men with long hair, or a single earring is a sort of symbol of going across prevailing currents. Still, it's fun to see evangelical Christian prog-rock. Go figure.

  • just fyi, Proto-Kaw isn't a Christian band.

  • Hm. Sorry. I thought there was some sort of association with the Christian religious faith. The comments seem to reflect that. What religion are they then?

  • Kerry Livgren became a Christian in the late-1970s, but that doesn't mean he can't play in a band with non-Christians. Gary Cherone did it in both Extreme and in Van Halen when he replaced Sammy Hagar. Believe it or not, you can be a practicing Christian and mingle with unbelievers - Jesus did it himself all the time, and was condemned by the Pharisees for it!

  • Why is this something that Christians always seek for cred? "Our music is almost as good as the music that non-religious people make. Our band sounds just as good as any non-Christian Top 40 band, man." If it's really that good, why not just not be a Christian? Seems like there's jealousy of bands that don't have the faith as the center of their thing.

  • Kerry just keeps on going and going and going! God bless him!!!!!!!1

  • Kerry still is the BOSS... He was and Elder in our Church here in Covington Ga. Before he sold his farm and moved back to Kansas. He is a very good man.

We still miss Him and His family out here...

  • My brother who's a friend of Kerry's sent this to me - very good sound. Impressive musicians!

  • I'll upload some more, just search for "proto-kaw".
