  • Acela completely unrestricted vs. stock car unrestricted on a straightaway

  • @phantomlord54 THAT WOULD BE A GOOD RACE!

  • Holy #%$&

  • Actually, when the Acela was first being tested, it was capable of doing speeds over 200+ MPH... However, for safety reasons, the max speed it does with passengers on board is 150mph.

    Source of this information:

    My father works for Amtrak.

  • cool video

  • it would be cool, if they have trains to be able to do 200+ from L.A. to N.Y. in 15-20hrs. instead of 4-7 days. When will the DOT built passenger only rails across the U.S.? Alot of people dont like flying and would love to take the train, but takes days to get there, so they go by car which is quicker....

  • Acela is eventually gonna need its own separate line so that it can be full throttle for the entire corridor

  • phantonlord154....All I can say is two words: taxpayer money.

  • Seems there won't be any of that for a while after all these daggum bailouts

  • It's like look at it but when you blink your eyes it's gone.

  • Looked like 200 mph to me.

  • Can you say "High Ball" LOL. What the GG-1's began with Pennsy, Amtrak's Acela Express's now carry on! Sweet video!

  • Now that's what I call puttin' the hammer down!

  • the acela looks like fun, i should try it out. I got very close to riding one. One regional was cancelled, and we got htere too late. If we got a regional ticket at 4:12 we would have caught the acela at 4:15 due to the regional being cancelled

  • ZOOM! You got a good camera for these kind of videos.

  • From the times I've riden the Acela Express through here southbound, he should be up to about 145-147 through the station, maybe hitting 150 by the time he clears the station or a few hundred yards south of the station. Great video no matter what.

  • Hi to clarify i am on my nephews account but i thought you may be interested with this. I operate the acela from junction 208(penn) to South station. After you hit the curve which is about 15 miles before we can hit 150-155 we go through Kingston station. Were not going 150 yet, lets say about 135. But hey were still preety damn fast.

  • are you talkin goin north or southbound?

  • That's the best! Been to Kingston and did get actually blown back by one!

  • thats hella fast!!!!

  • Never ceases to amaze me, love the doppler affect at 2-3 seconds

  • Nice shot!!!!

  • Beautiful!

  • WOW!
