but really I just got this plane from sn hobby for 100$ arf
what I noticed is the area that is carved out for the control arms to move into isnt big enough. You can hear the servo over loading ,so I took a screwdriver of the same diamiter and just pushed it into the slot to make it deeper and now they dont bind and squak
DAVE! i know you don't normally reply people but please reply me! Or someone please reply me! I have damaged 2 of my batteries which look way better than the ones in this video.. The voltage of each individual cells are okay and they're not like 1 volt above the other kinda thing.. is it still okay for usage? pls reply thanks!
Thanks for sharing. Thats crazy the manfacture to release a product that does that. That could of easliy been delt with in production. Glad it all worked out and nobody got hurt.
Dave, I do hope you will not take this the wrong way old buddy, but I really wouldnt have extected you to fly an EDF like that with such sloppy control surfaces, and to fly behind yourself where people are present..
I'm still a newbie and have only been flying almost 2 years, but flying behind you in our club is a really serious no-no...
Still, 4 guys in a field, nobody else watching... What could possibly go wrong... lol :-)
My battery, my money, my battery. Jeez Dave, what about the people there? I have a ton of respect for you but this seems to be below your standards. At the end of the video you say, "I hope you learned something from this" but I wonder if you did or not? (Sincerely and with due respect. -Mick)
Hi Dave, yeah...lucky is a pretty good description. Following someone's advice on how to dispose of a damaged LiPo, I once punctured a 3S 2200 ma battery in my kitchen sink filled with salt water. The results were quite amazing...kind of like a little volcano going off in the house.
Mate - I reckon you could get a brick to fly. Fair dinkum. You amaze me :))
Re that buggered LiPo - pretty unreal it still held it's V's across all cells in that ragged condition. Lucky but that it didn't puncture a cell - could have been a whole different story *eek*
So an edf going that speed packed with that size battery couldn't kill huh? Well try it in your next video. I mean math proves it so no harm done. After reading all your credentials some of you comments amaze me.
Good job getting it back together! One of the first things I check on anything fast is the servo linkage on elevator. If I can move it with my hand on the ground I don't fly it. After getting high speed flutter on my tail surfaces at 100mph and losing total control is what did that for me! I don't ever want to hurt anyone when flying and a fast plane out of control could do just that. This teaches a good lesson! That you should always do a thorough pre flight! This could have been prevented.
I love your vids Dave I dont miss a sigle one but I have to say that you changed the set up on that because you said it did not have enough throw so maybe the sloppy connection was yours Im sorry Love the vids keep em coming PS I also have a meteor and it flys great
my first tip with this jet put spoilerons on it! it really does make a difference and could you possibly buy some of those cheap hobbypartz lights and do a review on those they look awesome! and i haven't had any problems at all with my meteor i love it!
Give us some stronger servos! ATLEAST a corona MG equivalent or any 15+g MG servos! I wouldnt trust nylon or carbon gears at 90MPH and huge control surfaces.
Well lastly if that was a "controled crash?!?" I am so glad that woman in the van didn't get hurt. Different angle and these things can kill. Respect other AMA members if your going to preach it in you discription....practice it. Number of people on the flightline??? Distance from you, the jet and them??? Wow. Lipos don't always explode in a crash, most of the time they don't. This crap is what makes membership cost increase almost yearly.
I'm not saying your not an excellent pilot but why does everyone have to have an excuse. Like it was posted everyone crashes even the best. Example, watch some Falter Losemann vids. He is one of the best and crashes, and one of the best in the world Ali machinchy the best in my opinion has 2 crashes of $80+thousand dollar jets on YouTube in his articles hell tell you most of his crashes where pilot error. PEOPLE JUST ADMIT IF YOU MADE A MISTAKE. IT HAPPENS. I CRASH... SEE THAT WASN'T HARD.
Im sorry I can't be as sweet as everyone else here. However your talking about AMA rules and insurance and you broke too many for me to count on this video. Flying on the side of a road, guessing that's not an AMA cert field. Crossing the flight line at high speed many times. Then blaming the aircraft for pilot error. Cmon high speed inverted bank right at the flight line with a nitroplanes model what did you expect? Your not flying a $800 jet its a cheap over powered foamie.
@NightFlyyer Well the reason i ask is that in my club one car was totaly destroyed by a lipo that went on fire and it had no damage < and the battery terminals had not been crossed as their was a safety cap over them to prevent shorting
also they are getting better and better.. btw lithium (the content that burns) reacts to oxygen but also with water.. lets say it was a rainy day he crashed it would have made the risk of fire bigger.
so remember.. dont put out lipo fire with water.. that would probebly just worsen the problem
lol dollar signs, thats pretty cool that the battery checker would for lack of better words impose a signal into your camera. Something fishy going on hahaha Happy Flying!!!
If you were anyone else, I would've ripped you a new one for allowing that POS to get behind the flight line. lol... Since it was you, I know you did everything you could to keep everyone safe. I'm glad no one was hurt.
@Raptor50aus Or anybody for that matter. That is why I steered and tried to fly between the cars, but was still too low to pull out. Everybody flying knows there is a risk of accidents, as people crash RC airplanes everyday. That is why we have AMA insurance and we always try to enforce safety rules.
@NightFlyyer So true, even if your plane is slow and light, that propeller is spinning around 20000RPM and could easily cut through your flesh resulting in a slight chance of an infection
@airlinerdude12 You can't calculate impact that way. It depends on what part of the plane hits the person, and where. If the nose hits, someone's head, the impact force will be concentrated at one point, and the deceleration will be high. If the plane hits the body, and impacts sideways, the force would be distributed over a larger surface area and deceleration would be lower. F=MA, and A depends on impact.
These jets are basically cruise missiles, it can indeed cause serious damage.
Nitro planes make good planes! They have spectacular failures! as seen above, they need lots of work to be able to fly high g-force and large air pressure
@rcplanes1234 I hate to see any crash, and I like the Meteor too, especially if you beef up the elevator rods like I did BEFORE you fly it. And for the Price of a Habu, I can buy 4 Meteors! Thanks for the comments.
@gatorlynch Thanks. I have sereral videos on my NightFlyyer-A-Pult. You can search all the thumbnails on the right side of my home page or do a search within my channel for my launcher videos. Thanks again.
@beverke7 Thanks Kindly. Me too. If I had beefed up the elevator in the beginning, I would have never had this happen. But now, it is a very fast plane and I like to fly it.
@baalisgod666 Thanks kindly. @f1adore Well, it flies just as fast if no faster than the Habu and is made out of the good foam that can take lots of abuse, and the electrics it came with all work. If a person would beef up the elevator rods like I did, they would have good luck, and besides that, I can buy almost 3 of the Meteors for the price of a Habu.
