  • I' am impressed with the instructors patients,& the commitment of his students...

  • why do you guys keep talking ti choyleefutKID its obvious he is ignorant about martial arts and stuff. i believe he isnt trolling he just doesnt know. nevermind him

  • good bagua by the sifu..great work.

  • The art of airbending...

  • afs os cara estao dançando

  • Fun to watch

  • nobody is going to put their hand to their waste and attack u slow, this is why most of this shit is not useful.

  • @choyleefutkid1 You might as well say boxing is useless because no one's going to let you stand there and hit them. If you don't have enough brains to figure out when to do what, or whether to add an extra movement to the technique to fit the current situation that's your problem.

  • @rectinum no boxing is been proven effective, sorry im just starting to loose hope for traditional martial arts not that i lost a fight beacuse i havent but its something personal n its my opinion on the video n i agree with u with the mental part.

  • @choyleefutkid1 If you watch it properly, you can see that while the attacks to be countered are done slowly for the student's benefit, the teacher's fluid, natural response is clearly fast and reflexive enough to deal with a strike at full speed. But if you haven't even learned the technique yet, let alone internalized it so you don't have to go through the steps every time you do it, there's little hope of making use of it at full speed. Nobody expects a mugger to slowly lunge-punch.

  • @DRaelrich well have u ever heard of someone beating or killing someone with this style? or any style

  • @choyleefutkid1 Martial arts are martial because they were always used for killing and combat. Most styles use multiple weapons.Until recently in China teachers of martial arts were open to being challenged by whomever wished to, they would sign wavers of liability in case of death, not uncommon. This is not sport. Eyes, throat, groin, spine, etc are targets. The potential damage is higher and possibly more permanent than boxing. Boxing is a sport and impressively athletic, but sport has limits.

  • @Scionofquebec i knew this already tho

  • @choyleefutkid1 Then why would you ask "well have u ever heard of someone beating or killing someone with this style? or any style" if you already knew the answer is yes. The reason these arts are practiced slowly is that the follow through is dangerous. Every movement is efficient. If you already knew this, why did you say "most of this isn't useful" , I explained why it is. Either you didn't know it or are simply trolling. Your posts contradict themselves.

  • @Scionofquebec well becuz if u put a pa qua fighter vs boxer, the boxer is going to whoop the guys ass. thats y this style isnt popular cuz it sux. i prefer some cai li fo,realistic traditional combat fighting. or shaoling gong fu or jkd. peace

  • @choyleefutkid1 Simply trolling it is...

  • @Scionofquebec ur mad becuz this is a gay style

  • Very awesome applications. I love the way you go right into the circle after applications or when you discharge energy in the lifting of the palms and how you stay in close and bridge to get inside.... Please be mindful of the Kuntao Silat triangle response to being circled. You can find it in my favorites on my channel. Also be mindful of Wing Chun applicaton of Wu Chin as they costantly train to keep their three fronts at the center of their opponent. Makes it hard to flow around them...

  • Very awesome applications. I love the way you go right into the circle after applications or when you discharge energy in the lifting of the palms and how you stay in close and bridge to get inside....

  • I am lineage sifu of Ho (Ho Kuen Ng's) Family BGZ. I recommend to always move swiftly from a thrown opponent or flow straight into follow up attacking. WHY? The thrown opponent may grab your legs and topple you and get you into a grappling situation.

  • Fuck boxing, Baguazhuang could fuck a boxer up!

  • bagua or xing yi chuan ? which one is more effective?

  • @Alien0one

none, the one that is the most practical is the one you make practical. all styles are the same, is up to you to get good at it.

  • @Alien0one They're often taught in tandem.

  • Thanks, this was really helpfull.

  • Wish i could learn this:(

but i don't have schools (dojo's) that does bagua:(

  • @airsky22

Just learn how to box. You'll be able to apply it in a real fight alot sooner than you will with some of these traditional martial arts styles. Besides I've seen some kung fu people sparring and much of it just looked like bad boxing anyway.

  • @airsky22 learn wing chun first,it's the most practical kung fu style.

  • what move is that called at 3:19. my sound is not working if they said it.

some thing thay fly has to have a name.

  • Great clip, excellent applications

  • Comment removed

  • damm only if i new ba gua

  • @kenseisato1989 it's never too late to learn.

  • Is it me or does Bagua resemble Crane, alittle bit.

  • good stuff. thank you for posting. I know for a lot of people its overwhelming, but I've studied chinese martial arts most of my life, so I am very familiar with almost all of these techniques. and like I said, very nice stuff here.

  • too many applications!! You will end up confused...

  • @LongMenPai15 Looks like they already know the applications and they're just honing them to perfection. Or as close as one can get anyway. ^_^

  • @LongMenPai15 its not about remembering the techniques. Trying to use a specific technique for only one purpose is stupid and it wont get you anywhere. The reason why people spar and drill is because the technique isn't learned int he mind, it's learned in the body. Muscle memory takes over. The whole action is done without really thinking at all. One technique beats another. One movement can have fluid purposes.

  • @XD4133, well, this is exactly what I am saying!

first you must try to build up kung fu in your body,

then you can use any technique you like.

If you dont have kung fu they are useless!!

  • This is amazing Bagua! May I ask what lineage is this from? Thank you in advance =3

  • @Loyal2law Cheng Youlong lineage.

  • I like it. This is what I call bagua. In Europe normally you see a lot of guys walking in circle believing that it's the secret of universal power ahahha. Greetings from a Bajiquan student.

  • barely suppressed giggles at 0:47 :)

  • Do students just learn Pa Kua or can they learn that and Hsing Yi as well?

  • Good master. Bagua is beautiful yet very powerful.

  • "Circles within circles!"

  • I think it is amazing that circle walking can turn into this.

  • Good example of the "lake" palm

  • I've trained in Bak Mei for 8 years so far. Bak Mei has internal sets and applications, and this video is useful for me to see another internal style's applications. I can see the parallels. This is a good sifu.

  • Interesting stuff but it would be more interesting to see it applied at much much closer range. The starting range for these drills seems to be way too long, more like the classical martial artist versus martial artist range from the movies and not real combat range.

  • Pretty ,but when punches are coming at you full speed and full power ..These techniques do not work.

  • Master master...the Ninjers are practicing Shaolin! SHAOLIN!? UHHHHHHH!

  • Isn't Bagua Zhang the english name for Hakke Ken? Or was it Hakke sho? And Piquaquan is Hike ken, right?

  • @winniewhiskers How could a Chinese name be an English name for something Korean?

  • @winniewhiskers baguazhang is the Chinese name of the art. It originated in China.

Hakke shou is the Japanese translation of the Chinese "baguazhang". The English translation is eight trigram palm (palm denoting a fighting method, same idea is "quan" or fist).

  • at last! a chinese instructor who actually knows the real thing instead of

all these pathetic american "hsing yi" and "bagua" wannabe "sifus"

  • I practice pok hok pai and there is are elements of ba gwa such as footwork, walking the circle and body position as well as a lot of the strikes and movements are very similar I like this style very much.

  • This is pretty cool. Good apps for bagua. I've been studying baguazhang 64 mother palms for over a year now... and swimming dragon bagua for 1/2 year and I love it! Also studying taichi, hsing-i, and northern mantis. Bagua is by far my favorite though.

  • Hi! I am a beginner in chinese martial arts. Can you tell me what does this style focus on? Does it have any significant body movements (Not techniques), or attacking theory (vital points etc.)?

    Thanx!

  • Grounding, body/skeletal alignment, center of balance, centerline control, momentum control/manipulation... The basics of most martial arts, this just focuses in a very simplistic and yet specific way.

Although the training methods seem almost silly, slow and repetetive, it is in practice a very mobile and adaptable art. This teaches you how to move better than the other guy if that makes any sense. Movement while being balanced, in control, and grounded are the fundamentals of bagua.

  • Thank you.

I train Bujinkan Budo, so i know little something about balance and techniques unpretty yet effective. BaGua looks a little like it.

  • This guy is the real deal. If u can study under him I would reccomend you do. Produced two good students right there.

  • muy bueno este video

  • This guy has the goods. Thanks for sharing.

  • Great video good way to get beginners introduced into the wonderful world that is bagua i have been studying ba gua under master rick pickens who studied under master john winglok Ng i have a linear style which is more straight to the point with breaks and dimock i would enjoy posibly exchanging info so i can have a more controling aspect instead of clean cut take the opponets life aspect i would greatly appriciate it

  • Is this art form an rooted in Kung Fu? It appears to have many of the circular moves, footwork and positioning of Kung Fu. This looks like a pretty cool Martial Art to learn. Thanks for posting.

  • Yes, It's one of the internal kung-fu forms

  • Thanks.

  • Baguazhang is one of the three Neijia (or internal) KungFu styles. The others being TaiChi and XingYi. It is based on circling and spiraling principles. In forms it tends to look really fancy and obscure, but it is quite intensely effective in combat application. It takes a long time to be able to pull the combat application off properly. For many people it is very very difficult to combine martial intent with a relaxed state. For Neijia KungFu this is _the_ essentlial thing to learn.

  • @memetic23 well said. The mind leads the body. Your wisdom is on par my friend. well done

  • @memetic23 what is Baji Quan then?

  • ba gua is a style of kung fu, kung fu itself is not a style, there always a other name for the specific style.

  • a man can be told nothing when he already knows everything...

  • Which is why wisdom and knowledge are infinite.

  • You must have got your degree in asskicking from badass university huh? I don't know if you can see this but... they are learning. I know one white guy that practices bagua better than any brown skinned person I have ever seen in real life. Shit, most people have never heard of bagua in America, no wonder these guys don't have the technique down. Its not exactly something that comes naturally. Bagua is a high level of Kung Fu study and shouldn't be your first attempt at martial arts.

  • If were brown then most europeans are pink lol

  • ok....no offense or racism...that white dude really sucked, even for a beginner. I was able to perform at twice his level in only 2 days of training. @ThirdEyeLight: Bagua is not a high level of Kung Fu, simply different. Also, I recommend it as your first martial art because it teaches you focus more than any other feature.

  • Really? I doubt you have studied bagua properly then because your body must be in very specific alignment in order to do this while being properly grounded. No offense. The reason I say it is a high level study of kung fu is because you should know a lot about how your body works and what proper grounding is. It can be your first martial art, but it will take you a long time to learn correctly.

The benefits from "focus" really only come after balance and alignment are achieved.

  • You are right, i guess it is sort of a high level martial art. I was exaggerating the 2 days a bit, It actually took me a week to preform so much better than the white person here. But I did study it properly, I was told i was naturally gifted.

  • I don't doubt you whatsoever. The hard part is the body alignment and grounding. If you are blessed in that area (hard to explain) it would be very easy to learn the forms quickly. For me, my body was pretty badly mal aligned and it took me a long time to get it to where it needed to be. once you are where you need to be, you can kind of "feel" why the forms are what they are.

  • Do you have video of that? Not dissin', just saying that sometimes if you take some video of yourself you will find that you are not really as good as you think you are (I know because I've experienced it :D)

  • @Xx8trigramsxX Dong (considered the founder of baqua) only EVER taught martial artist that were trained and had experience (in china that meant that they could kill already). Baqua is indeed equivalent to a doctorate degree in martial arts. I have been studying martial arts of all types for over 25 years, speciallizing in 2 styles over that time, and baqua is indeed still difficult. If your baqua isnt, it isnt baqua! Oh, and focus is the end result of learning to exterminate!

  • thanks asshole ill remember that

  • Your one racist person aren't you? I'm white and I fully understand that this is much more than self defense. It is an art form. It is the art of beautiful killing, the art of 8 changes, it is Pakua Chuan/Bagua Zhang. We practice is to make killing beautiful, strengthen our bodies, chi, and mind, those and many other things all come into play.

  • why cant you people just watch the video and keep stupid comments to yourselves

  • Real mature, dickwad! Now, go play with your fanboy magazines that tell you how to fight and be a nice kid.

  • Don't pick on him, he likes Don Frye and his hunky moustache. He's like Magnum PI, except he likes to lie on the floor with men in just his pants.

  • Oh, my... really? I'm sorry courtesyjerk, I did'nt know! lol

  • Going back, are you? Wow.

I bet the class can't wait!

  • So you're a nut-huger??? that explains the gayness!!

  • the problem with the punching style is that is makes the striker completely off balance. look at the striking technique at 1:32, he isnt even close enough to make contact.

this is bullshit. only works if both guys are only using ba gua.

seriously, when they punch they lean in with their upper body and completely expose the face/head.

damn right its not boxing, this is not effective.

  • As always, you should personally go verify if it works or not. I'm sure they will gladly let you show them where they are mistaken.

  • what the fuck is the spirit of a martial art?

a fighting system's effectiveness is measured by its practical application.

you dumbass. with your smug "im sure they...mistaken".

yeah. because i have the resources to find them.

    balance, power, speed, and endurance.

    those make great fighting.

  • If you don't take the mean to find out if they practice balance, power, speed and endurance, why the fuck do you even pretend to know what they are doing?

As you so kindly put it: dumbass!

  • Comment removed

  • who the fuck punches by stepping in with the same foot as the punching hand?

no hips at all. this is ridiculous

  • This isn't boxing. This is high level internal gung fu. Incerdible power can be administered without ostentatious external motion and large slow body turn. It is most logical to attack with the same hand as foot forward first, as this is the quickest strike possible.

It is a common approach of the three orthodox internal systems and mentioned many times in different guises in the Tai Chi Classics.

  • Err -- a lead hand strike? Jab perhaps?

  • Forget it, you're being too technical for him. Since he didn't cover basic punches in his 7 month BJJ class, they doesn't exists in his little head.

  • at 6:22 you can almost feel the internal energy he's channeling into that. Thats gonna hurt.

    Very nice vid. Thanks

  • thanks ^^!

  • I mean 2:13

  • 2:03 is pretty chef!

  • wicked!

  • so what is real ba gua?

  • i think you need to see him in real, because in a 7min video like this......

  • I think these are highly skillful applications. and yes this is "real Bagua", and adept at that.

  • adept at that means... ?

  • By adept at that, i meant that not only is this sifu skilled and proficient in Bagua but he obviously has a high level of understanding and ability. An Adept. But to each their own.

  • I love this video. Have watched it countless times! Anymore bagua application vids??

  • do gaeshi at first

  • Was that a some type of sticky hands movement they're doing at the end? Because it seems familiar , and it looks interesting.

  • looks similar to the sticky hands in basic traditional kali

  • think of them as just enhancements to what you currently study ... since u learn fast and their are no forms to remember they will not change what you do by alot (for those who are worried about preserving the art). to be honest they wont change it at all just how you look a combat ...

  • for you guys that want to improve your bagua or just your understanding of the human anatomy and how to maniulate it ...try the southeast asian arts like silat, kun tao (which comes from kung fu) trust me ive been studying them for the last 4 1/2 years and they have given a whole new insight into what ive previously studied including kung fu ...the beauty about them is that they are taught based off principles so u learn quick, effectively and u dont have to worry bout learning a huge curriculum

  • Thx, but there are many different silat schools as far as I know, which one do you mean? Moreover, which different styles have you tried so far? Whats the basis of your judgement to prefer these two among all the other martial arts?

To my mind, Tai Chi Chuan would clearly be much more suitable because there is a huge number of schools all over the world which can not be said concerning Bagua.

  • what the kung fu or most arts (non-sports related) were originally intended for, to protect nd defend , second even in a competitive aspect of it your still limited to harming the person and in competetition theirs rules ... i swear no one will be satisfied with someone efforts to bring to light their insight until someone is missing an eye or levitating you in the air by their mere chi lol ... i can tell you that if you wanna try some arts that really get down to the point, and really get the

  • its true we got alot of posers out there that rather than post there own videos to demonstrate how to properly apply what they are critisizing or to give some positive contructive feedback . theyre probly bitter they themselves dont have the skills that person does or have trying at for a while and just cant seem to get to that next level... But you see you cant just go out and expect someone of high caliber to go out and demonstrate their art to their full potentiial, for one it goes against

  • ...now ive done some kung fu in my time ( very little bagua ) i dont clame to be the super master delux of the all knowing of martial arts but i do know enough about martial arts (which ive been studying several different ones for many many years) to tell you that this guy wether hes applying his Ba Gua techniques to their exact specification or not he definately knows what hes doing

  • most of you guys that leave these comments on youtube a retarded leaving comments about kicking eachothers asses and critizing this guy behind ur computer when most of you dnt know didley squat about nething probly just anime nerd freak boys sitting at home eating cheetos

  • this is the real advanced mma

  • maybe your an animal fucker who wants me to be a rat so you can rape me. your stupid pussy animal lover who hides behind youtube. your mums a whore and your dads a faggot.

  • wow chinese man kicks ass

  • Incredible. Thank you for uploading.

  • great vid thanks for sharing.

  • 老兄,这个可不是武术表演,这个是真功夫,要是八卦掌高速运动起来,是杀人技术。。。。

  • thank you for your delightful insight

  • To kfdouglas below you obviously know shit by making a comment like that.

  • Shouldn't he plow THROUGH the opponent's centerline, instead of towards his back?

  • It's bagua, so it's not likely to happen.

  • Spoilers: you cannot learn a martial art by watching it.

  • I think jet li have used this style on his movie "The One" \m/

  • whos the sifu by the way?

  • obvious guy with 4 eyes

  • oh his name was '4 eyes' thanks 4 clearing that up...

  • Yeah, but he needs to use one eye to kick your ass... LOL!

  • you are a bad person since you do not know how to respect others!

  • who is condemnet?

..when you point the finger someone else is judging you.../Marley/..say something....

  • "4 eyes" is right word???

  • no, "4 eyes" is left word. why are you so edgy about words? btw i have only one eye....but its enough.

  • if you only have one eye, i feel sorry for you. but i do not want people call these who wear glasses as 4 eyes...

  • no need to be sorry. god knows what his doing...."wants and dont wants" are barriers for your prosperity and evolving. when you gone beyond, you will find true tao....respect! i love you anyhow ;)

  • @whatisyournameya Get over it. I wear glasses too.

  • lol at :49 made me chuckle. bagua definately got some powerfull stuff

  • sum good applications but i think i'll stick with xing yi. it looks like it would take years to be able to use such complex applications efficiently in a fight whereas xingyi applications are so simple and effective you can fight with it after about a year of training. no offence to bagua practitioners.

  • Depends. You find a good Yin school and you'll be able to use that shit fast; chances are, they'd teach you Lion (Cheng is equivalent to the Dragon of Yin style, only 1/8 of the system), which is more or less "hitting shit". This isn't to flex my nuts or anything, and you'd have to train like crazy to accomplish something like this - this is just to say that bagua is practical and doesn't take a lot of time - but I know of a Yin style practitioner of five years who beat one of Jet Li's masters

  • Hahaha...Ba Gua is such a deadly beautiful art. Ashame, a lot of videos posted on youtube dont really display the core of the style. Most of martial arts today used segments of Ba Gua...ask Bruce Lee. Awesome post!

  • very good,i would like to learn more, can u send some more intresting move?

  • this is good, i learn alot from this, i will apply this into what i have learn.

  • that great i love that the teacher and the fella who is having difficulty (no offense) keep trying on the same guy. been in that situation many times

  • Fantastic! A very technically skilled master who shows the nuances of the moves (similar to Aikido's "cutting the angle" or arc of movemeht). Keep posting great vids like these.

  • That was exactly what I was thinking while I was watching. I have practiced Aikido, but never had the chance to attend to Ba gua-zhan class', so such videos are very valuable.

Thank you very much, whatisyournameya, please share if you have more of these :)

  • you are only 17 years old, this is why i do not want to talk with you.

there are so many lessons you have to learn not only in martial art but also in life...

keep growing, not your blindness but your maturity.

  • wad a noob. to talk like that.

  • you guys from Singapore are funny...

  • pay them no heed. Good vid man thanks

  • agreed, i've always wanted to take up the martial arts, and i've been looking at various forms to decide which i like the best

  • Actual Baguazhang being used!!!!! It's amazing!!!!!!! Plus it's Cheng style!!!

  • its always good to see someone that ACTUALLY knows what they r doing. good job guys

  • You are awesome!

  • Where I come from, basic taekwondo's the best they got... enough to keep you alive for a few minutes at the very most...

    =[
