the "bleeding" you refer to is usually considered intentional in jazz - and I suppose all other genres for that matter, as vibraphone is known for its tension
i'd be interested to hear a vibes player on the matter, but their bloody rare, and i don't know any so, i think that'll be along time coming!
you wouldn't hold the sustain on a piano playing bop lines.. but it shouldn't sustain automatically.. its part of the instrument though on vibes... sounds kinda cool
really like be-bop soloing, the ideas really build the solo into a cohesive whole. Vibes player is very open petaled even when playing fast which somtimes makes the notes bleed, but it still sounds good so whatever.
