@LastOrder90 By concentration camps do you mean the ones set up by FEMA? Yeah, those are set up to house people in a New World Order by our government. Not for helping us.
This stuff is really only useable in a bug-in situation not bug-out just to clarify. Your weight constraints are too great to include all of that for getting out. You'd be smart to ditch the sledge because you have a flat edge on the axe head, replace the saw with a chain hand saw, ditch the wedge and use the axe to cut a wedge out of wood when needed, and I'd ditch the cutters and go with a smaller crow. Just my 2p.
No need to clarify, I dont plan on buging out. There is only about a 5% chance of me buging out. If I were I would take my well stocked bug out bag. The odds are better for me to stay put with my water/well, food and firearms. So that being said these are all great items to have. Thanks for watching
Good sound advice here. I don't understand how any home cannot have these items! Just like you said I guess, everyone is just to dependent on "Just On Time Delivery" & "Electricity".
@skhackersk The economy is probably going to collapse soon. When that happens, we may not be able to depend on the military and police for help. Which means that we're gonna have to help ourselves and each other. There's also about 800 concentration camps already built and ready in the U.S. Did you hear about those? You can research those on Youtube and Google. Hope this helps and take care.
Axe, clippers, sledge I combined into a hatchet (Estwing). Picked up 4lb wedge yesterday (love Craigslist). Fire wood for me = small pieces, twigs using a rocket stove. Have 3 old hand saws to get away from modern cheap blades (1950's saws). Along w/ old hand drills, knives, planers, auger, etc. Have crowbar, debating on monster like you show (the hatchet goes through about anything). Bolt cutters I still need on the list. Have shovels, point and square end.
build a shelter? There are hundreds of thousands of abandoned homes around America. :-) While physical preparation is absolutely necessary, preparing mentally and most importantly spiritually for what's about to hit this world will be of great value as well. Nice video dude - you kept it very "real". Peace
All of these tools are great to have. However they all weigh a great deal, in my bug out bag i have a small wood saw and a hatchet I find these tools very effective at doing the jobs of most of those tool (besides the sledge hammer and crow bar). In a bug out bag weight is a huge issue if you can carry all of those things and still move quickly then that is great but please don't encourage people to put 20 extra pounds in their packs... it won't end well.
ive got most of them tools now but i still need a good set of bolt cutters but i have been looking for a good set of the bigger ones but being a home owner and living out of the city we use a lot of them doing yard work now when i see the shtf comming im filling up everything i can with gas im going to want to use my chainsaw and woodsplitter for at least 2 weeks that way ill have enuff firewood ready for 3 years cause i know ill be useing the hand saw and splitting maul
around here they call them burglary tools---LOL--i buy tools on ebay and flea markets and yard sales---a lot of people are listing those things as relics-antiques-rustic tools-pioneer tools---a lot of them folks never had to dig a hole or build a fire---i got me a full line of rustic tools for when the electricity goes out--like really out---i also heavily invested in canning jars and food storage--they will be hard to come by--we had all those rustic pioneer tools when i was a young buck-peace
@GreenhouseSalvation: Same here w/ all you said. Going Gpa style w/ the tools. Hand drills, thick bladed hand saws that don't break/bend (hand file to sharpen), wooden handle auger, etc. Power goes 100%, I can still build Craigslist often has rustic tools as well. Found a charity tool store close as well. Young or old, I'm still a Buck.
here is a tool that will put together the sledgehammer and crowbar into one
its called the Stanely Fatmax Fubar III demolition bar and called forced entrytool by firefighters this tool can even open firehydrants close gas shut off valves obviously if it shuts off the gas it can turn it back on
the tool is 8.5 pounds and is 30" inches long
you can NOT find this at walmart home depot lowes or any other hardware store
only firefighter stores and ebay has them the tool range between $80-$145
Survival, looting- they are TOOLS- like a gun, anything that can be used, can be mis-used.
Personally, I was delighted when those wonderful yellow, INDESTRUCTABLE handles started coming on high-quality mauls, axes, and other impliments of work!
@nicks2424 LOL- when I was in University, I was a super-prepette. Of course, I carried a LW .38 S&W snubbie under my top. That was when I taught myself leatherwork- too many holes, in my favorite tops! (Damned hammers!) A good, inside-the-waistband holster, eliminates that problem.
I was in Boy Scouts in the 1960's. In the camper shell on my truck, I carry a bow saw, hand axe, WW2-style folding shovel, Metrinch took kit, and a mattok (short pick axe). I keep a crowbar on the floor behind the driver's seat, handy to grab. I keep a small file in the glove box to sharpen tools. An ammo box holds bar soap, toilet paper, road flares, Ontario Knife w/sharpening stone, misc. I try to keep drinking water bottles, but can light a fire and camp if need.
Better due to safety than the splitting maul and cheap at harbor freight is a sliding hammer wood splitter. Not as flexible but when shtf and medical help will be far more limited it eliminates one risk factor substantially.
I just got all of this after seeing this video, got them all cheap out of classified ads! Dirt cheap compared to new and all better than most newer stuff! I live in an apartment and see the value in this stuff!
These are my work tools. I only work a few nights a week. If you want to get into my line of work, I would also recommend a few other items. I wear every time I leave the house for work.
A ski mask, some supple black leather gloves., and a bit of pepper spray for those pesky guard dogs.
@usfreedom22 A lot of people dont understand the difference between savaging for survival and looting. It's kind of hard to explain, but there is a difference. If your breaking into an industrial building to keep from freezing to death, your not looting. If something is abandoned (overturned semi trailer, half burned down store...) and you think it might contain enough food to keep you child from starving to death, its not looting, its survival.

Sometimes your trapped and dont have a choice but to go through a locked gate or building. It is not about steeling, it's about not dying. I prep. I store. And I have options.
@Tradekraft what are you going to do if the item chained up or locked is yours. Maybe the lock wasnt yours, but someone else decided to keep you from it. This is about contingencies. Assuming a person with breaching tools is a thief is like assuming a person with a boat is a pirate.
This is definitely good info for the beginner. I choose the Gerber X-tra large axe though. Lighter weight, easier to carry, and nearly indestructible. Plus it holds a hell of an edge. Good video.
I keep two shovels a flat and a spade strap on my luggage rack of my suv comes in real handy during the winter for getting better traction in the ice also the saw got in the back as well axe got it great vid man!!
You need face masks. the INDUSTRIAL ONES. think on this... Volcanoes? A lot of people got sick around all those volcanoes that went off. And NOT REPORTED in the news are the MANY showing activity in the USA. Add DUTCHSINSE on youtube. He keeps track of them. There are like 9 IN CALIFORNIA that R making so much smoke and ash that weather men call them storm clouds. & the USGS calls them forest fires. But ?! they come up STRAIGHT out of one spot and dont move & R usually from TOPS of mountains.
@usfreedom22 MY BAD! I am just finding it funny that some SURVIVAL videos have 338 lapuas 4000.00$ rifles and wilson firearms and how to put a FREEZER on your truck. But... GOOD JOB DUDE! Nice video.
Hey great vid. Have you ever considered a kukri. My ghurka kukri has amazing ability in chopping. I need a camera to show you, but there are some vids if you didn't know. It's essentially a hand sword//machete
I'd rather use a lock picking set to gain entry so I can close the place back up if I plan to use the place as a shelter. Also They are very light & so easy to use some preppers might teach their kids to do it (Though the only kid I'd have to worry about in SHTF is a 7 year old girl & I don't think she's old enough to learn something like that)
@Zippy1one That's not his fault, he's buying whats available to him..Maybe if generations in the past stopped the nafta act, and maybe if we stop the new one we're in progress of making through china, he would have more American-made choices.
good tools are sooo hard to find.... got any recommendations? I can't believe it... I went to home depot last month to get some grease... THEY DON'T SELL IT ANYMORE! U can only get spray lithium greases.... unbelievable man. I still can't believe it. I had to go to a truck/automotive hardware store to get some old fashion paste grease. Everyone's selling less for the same price nowadays... Yah those spray cans aren't 1.0lb of grease & they cost more than $4. Useless & bad for the enviroment
Well that was the point. Have tools to build what you need and have tools to get in to locked places to scavenge for item. Again it the absolute worse case senario
tools that would help you do some driveway refurbishing , pruning bushes , laying up a new court house ! ...How about that wet saw for ceramic tile !!!!!!!!!!!! and NEVER forget stocking up on basement jacks ....in case your upper floor starts to creek !!!!!
these tools are handy just to have in your home - being new home owners after so many years of renting we're discovering that each of the tools shown are on our "shopping list" of stuff we didn't realize that we'd need owning our own home
@usfreedom22 as a home remodeler I have so much stuff that will be useless in a SHTF event but recently I found an old broad axe head. I am now concentrating on the Gerber line of machetes and fixed blades.
I remodeled homes for 10 years I know do trim carpentry, so I know what you mean. You should look into getting some solar. I plan to get mine finished in a month or so and do a video. You can use alot of tools from the solar or battery bank. I think your right we will need to go primitive for a while. If you havent seen it, check out my videos, there is one I made on old hand tools I think you will love.
This was a great idea to remind people of the hand tools we will need to survive. I have to sit down and think about the tools we will need in the kitchen as well. No electricity will
mean needing a lot of manual equipment. thanks check out my blog, you are mentioned.
It is gramssurvivalkitchen period blogspot period com under the article Mentors, Influences and Encouragers. You are a good influence and I consider you and southerpepper1 as mine.
how will the average person carry all this, the average person will have trouble finding water, it is a good video but only the well prepared in advance will understand it....the average person has never even used a saw..it is a sad times we live in when men nolonger know how to use common tools
Your tools have fiberglass handles with foam "bad aim" shields which is great. Handles still break. I have hand whittled a few just to do it, major time consumer. Buy more handles. Have some files to sharpen those tools; even a sharpe shovel makes life easier.
I would suggest a Mattock or pick axe, its great if you have soft soil where u live... but i never found it easy to dig anything with a just a shovle. Just a suggestion.
If you watch my video on the 55 gallon barrels you will see I have two huge trailers if I wanted to take most of my supplies. Im not planning on going anywhere but if we were forced we are in really big trouble.
Great video. People don't always consider that a simple sledge hammer with get a lot of jobs done when you are not too concerned about a pretty finish. Keep up the good work. Paul
Im a carpenter, so I ony made videos about wood working tools. You gave me a good idea, I have a lot of medal working tools, I'll do a video on that. Thanks
Yeah man, try out your bolt cutters before SHTF! The last thing you need is your metal crimping on you when you need it to perform! I had a name brand one that some how according to the manufacturer "missed the heat treat process". I guess they got a shipment of steel that wasn't properly treated or not to the proper grade because it was a name brand tool!
@m6996j Heck man, I've had brand name ones fail! I use them at work every now and then and got a new pair from a big box hardware store and they were name brand. they told me that somehow a shipment of steel used to manufacture them somehow either wasn't heat treated or they got the wrong steel shipped to them that was not hard enough, the steel on the cutters just bent to the shape of the bolt!.
They made it right with me so I can't bitch too much.
i remember when those harbor freight solar panels were going for about 120 and if you were lucky just shy of 100 bucks... now they are just shy of 200.
@oregonnich U can gt coupons out of pop mechanics that will cut price to $150 catch them and you save some money. I took some out the library magazine and got a set. For some reason they are not working I need to go see what is needed I either got a lightening strike or the battery needs attention. I am leaning toward lightening because it stopped working just after a storm where we had power disruption.
No I have not got a chance to, the weather has been so crapy her, I just got the fence up in time. Hopefully before the new year. i got all my stuff and I even got those nice shut off switches you got.
what about a sharpener?

these tools are handy just to have in your home - being new home owners after so many years of renting we're discovering that each of the tools shown are on our "shopping list" of stuff we didn't realize that we'd need owning our own home

@usfreedom22 as a home remodeler I have so much stuff that will be useless in a SHTF event but recently I found an old broad axe head. I am now concentrating on the Gerber line of machetes and fixed blades.
This is a video all people need to see.
We may need to go primitive for a while.
TR5T 9 months ago
@TR5T

You should add a hacksaw, work gloves, and safety glasses, but very good choice in tools.

@jay420365
I have all of them. I just did these basics to help to get people to think alittle.

Your tools have fiberglass handles with foam "bad aim" shields which is great. Handles still break. I have hand whittled a few just to do it, major time consumer. Buy more handles. Have some files to sharpen those tools; even a sharpe shovel makes life easier.
I enjoy your vids,

Glock21123 1 year ago
Yeah man, try out your bolt cutters before SHTF! The last thing you need is your metal crimping on you when you need it to perform! I had a name brand one that some how according to the manufacturer "missed the heat treat process". I guess they got a shipment of steel that wasn't properly treated or not to the proper grade because it was a name brand tool!
rooftopeagle 1 year ago
@rooftopeagle
Thanks, I know most of them are crap.
usfreedom22 1 year ago
i have never had a cheap set of boltcutters not work. they just dont last
m6996j 1 year ago
@m6996j Heck man, I've had brand name ones fail! I use them at work every now and then and got a new pair from a big box hardware store and they were name brand. they told me that somehow a shipment of steel used to manufacture them somehow either wasn't heat treated or they got the wrong steel shipped to them that was not hard enough, the steel on the cutters just bent to the shape of the bolt!.
They made it right with me so I can't bitch too much.

Your going to need at least 3 wedges in order to split wood because they get stuck and you need the other ones to free them.

i remember when those harbor freight solar panels were going for about 120 and if you were lucky just shy of 100 bucks... now they are just shy of 200.
oregonnich 1 year ago
@oregonnich U can gt coupons out of pop mechanics that will cut price to $150 catch them and you save some money. I took some out the library magazine and got a set. For some reason they are not working I need to go see what is needed I either got a lightening strike or the battery needs attention. I am leaning toward lightening because it stopped working just after a storm where we had power disruption.
