Because I LOVE Mahalia and this artist, I have great respect for this rendition of her song. When critiquing it, here are my findings: The artist is not trying to be Mahalia. She has her own voice and uses it accordingly. She starts off with a Regina Belle sound and then moves into her own power, the solemn sound expresses a meeting with Christ on judgment day, so voice pitch and tone matches with the lyrics. This allows the audience to ponder and she will be remembered. "cont."

...allows audience to remember the song and associate it her voice with it, (That would be good for marketing & sales), I find that there is NO contradiction within the Holy spirit speaking and the listening experience, she uses her ranges wisely and smoothly (there is no SHOUTING match at the spirit which violates the scripture, NOT BY POWER NOR BY MIGHT BUT BY THE SPIRIT SAID THE LORD) The only thing, I find a LITTLE fault with is.... cont.

3. I find a LITTLE (only a little) fault with her presentation. Gospel songs (which means that the songs are telling of the good news of the Lord Jesus) should be delivered in a GRACEFUL LOOK. The look must be very modest and NOT TO BRING attention to the flesh but to the spirit of God. "YOU DID THAT BUT,"read my next comment" Although we are in the flesh, the Holy Ghost will do the work of convicting offenders and your look must agree with what He is doing in the room. cont....

4.The look must respect that God's gift (your entire presentation, not just the voice) must be like the passover blood smeared on the door post of believers. You MUST put on a garb of grace. The reason I have a little fault with it because you may be challenged financially but when things increase BEEF UP the Graceful LOOK! Overall opinion, I LOVE IT! The spirit of God will take you places. I WOULD BUY YOUR WORK. Take this as constructive because it was NOT meant to be OFFENSIVE. Great POSTING!
