Sorry to spoil the fun here. Connie's a great singer---no argument there--- but there is a bit of irony in this cover, I feel. And that is Jamaica has lots to worry about. The IMF and G8 have effectively crippled Jamaica, economically speaking. Hearing Bob Marley sing it is soothing. Hearing it from a kid who can't fathom poverty and economic woe, this song comes off (unintentionally, I am certain) condescending. Sorry, Connie, please choose another song, sweetheart.

@kubohemian When Connie heard about poverty she was very upset and emptied her drawers of toys and asked for them to go to helping the poor. She went to Jamaica to sing this again and a lot of her singing now is for charity so she does have some awareness of hardship and does try to help, she has a wonderful heart.

@857frank Thanks for your comment. Connie sounds like a very warm-hearted person; I doubt that at all. In fact, I think all children have something to teach adults in that regard. After watching the film Life & Debt, I realized that Jamaica doesn't need charity they need debt relief from the IMF and world bank. Jamaica and their trade partners need to foster Fair Trade in all sectors of their economy.

1st: it was written by Bob Marley and is a classic Jamaican reggae song

2nd: while it was written for Marley's family to sooth their troubles while he was touring, some believe it is written for all Jamaicans to hope for a better future for their country.

I should get to the heart of what bothered me about this song covered by Connie. Imagine: someone decides to produce a cover of Billy Holiday's classic "My Man," a song in which Holiday infuses so much of her personal pain. In short, I don't think even Rihanna would feel right in covering My Man. Same goes for Marley's 3 Lil' birds -- best to leave classics alone.
