Ok. I just read in the description that the clutch detached from the pickup rollers.
Let me tell you a little story on how I saved my second grade class from a malfunctioning modernized Westinghouse lift:
We were at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, Schindler modernized the elevator we were on. We were waiting for the doors to close, then BANG!! It detached from the pickup rollers and the hoistway door slammed shut.
Luckily, I told someone how to open it, since I knew how, (continued)

and thus I was able to save my second grade class from the elevator.
It didn't have the weird looking Westinghouse pickup roller thing, but a Schindler one.
