I've known Narvel since 1980, I met him for the first time and met him in again in Spring of 2002. We see him whenever we can and he truly is a wonderful performer and a gentleman.
Just saw Narvel perform on 1/28/2012 at the FLORIDA SUNSHINE OPRY in Eustis, FL and spoke with him before and after the show. What a warm, genuine, wonderful man! Still singing and performing in his 73rd year. One of the few artists to chart songs in 5 decades, from the 1950s into the 1990s, and still touring the USA and Europe. What a performer and artist!
I met Narvel the first time in 1980. Since 2001 and a new wife we have traveled many times to see him perform. We've met him many times and have received Christmas cards from him. He is truly a talent and a wonderful person.
@Henning2Henning I've only met Narvel a couple of times in Minnesota, but you're right...........he's the best! He stood for photos with me, gave me his autograph and chatted like we were old friends. Talent.........absolutely, wonderful person????????????? OMG YES! If you see him, tell him an old lady in Minnesota loves him!
Met Narvel twice, have autographs............want to marry him..............or at least let him sing this song in my home! What a talent! Light my way...........please.
Yes, my wife and I saw Marvel in November of 2009 in Cleveland and he sang "Crying" at that time. I had been a fan since 1980 and never heard him do that song before, he truly is one of a kind. Not only is he a fine entertainer, but also a wonderful person.
I was with a group in the mid 70's in Memphis that backed Narvel on a show there. As per usual he came into the dressing room and we went over the 4 or 5 songs he would do and one of them was Roy Orbison's "Crying". I didn't realize what a great voice and range he had until he did that song onstage! He had the crowd in a frenzy and it was great! Someone said he didn't get the credit he derserved. That's an understatement for sure! Keep on, Narvel!!
My past Grandfather is somehow related to Narvel. Maybe someone could help. Jim Felts moved to Cleveland, Ohio from Arkansas. He married my Grandma Erma Felts. I never new much of my grandfathers life in Arkansas. I was wondering if Narvel or any family members had any memories and stories of him. Thank you. Just reaching out to my roots.
I first saw Narval around 1965-66 as opening act for Charley Rich. People liked Narval so well that he came back on after Charley and played a few more songs. Saw him several times until 68 when I went into Navy. In 72 he came to the base that I was stationed and played in the club for six days. Really enjoyed hearing him and talking to him. havent seen him since, but still listen to my 33 1/3 RPM's.
I always felt that Narvel was the white version of Percy Sledge. No one can croon those romance songs like those two! Narvel is also a great person! Love him!
saw Narvel a few years back on the Slim Whitman farewell tour of the UK , when he walked out i swear everybody was laughing because he looked so comical walking out , but i tell you he stole the show and i am a massive Slim fan , all we talked about on the way home was how good Narvel was , superb
It's too hard for me to call a winner- Narval and Johnny co-own this song! The only thing I could ask for would be to have someone in the background playing a B-3 with some real Gospel authority!
Agree, Narvel is the BEST. have know known him since 1970 and seen him in concert numerous times. He sounds as good now as he did when we first heard him sing. Will see on 6/27/09 in Huntingdom Tn. So looking forward to it
whomever did the video...it sucks ..more close up shots, there aren't any,get up and move the camera, and this man has a beautiful voice, normally, but his voice sounds like it is coming out of a 50 gallon metal drum..thanks for the effort just a little constructive criticism .pladahitzzz from ny city
i saw Narvel for the first and only time a few years ago on Slim Whitmans final tour of the UK , and he blew us away , he strolled on stage and to be honest we all looked at eachother and thought oh my god what have we here , but i have been a big fan since , he as an amazing voice , he sang a song for his son Bubb , for the life of me i can not remember the title of it but Narvel gave an amazing performance , love him , Eddie
I've seen Narvel many times and at every performance he does a song to "Bub". Is the song you're thinking of called "Even Now" E-mail me and I'll send it to you. Bob
Well, we saw him in Cleveland on 11-10-07 and his birthday was the next day. He was 69 on the eleventh and don't get the rocking chair out yet! He's still bringing down the house!!
BTW, we'll be seeing Narvel this weekend (11/10)in Cleveland, OH. He is in a show for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, honoring Jerry Lee Lewis. Of course, Jerry Lee will be performing, as will Narvel, Kris Kristofferson and many others...
