The real credit goes to the designers of the engines. Their designs ultimately determines the practical performance of the aircraft such as range, payload, passenger comfort and economy. I think Rolls Royce does the best job in this field.

the 747-8 freighter is currently in early production, and first one will be delivered in 3rd quarter 2010, the passenger 747-8 scheduled for 2011.

the 747 started the jumbo jet legacy. it's around still for it's cargo ability, huge load capacity, and unbeatable reliability... the triple seven is the new go to boeing widebody. with the -200 frieghter now up and running, the cargo industry is still a boeing market for sure.

uh not exactly, if i remember correctly, the 747SR ,the Japanese short range version, can carry almost 600 passengers, more than the 777....the 777 is really the better plane but 747 still has more space...

747SR is low fuel capacity small wingspan, low fuel and small tanks. 777-300er is longer cooler better cockpit. Longer wingspan so fly smooth reduces engine noise

the 747-8 can carry 500 + AND WILL BE THE worlds longest plane. when it comes out it will become my favorite plane. I will leave the 777 alone. But it is and will be the best airplane family to me. 747-300/400 CANNOT carry more than the 777-300ER. we should stop fighting over which plane is better. Each planes is best at something. 747 started the Jumbo and double decker industry. 777's became well known for their speed and engines. ALSO CAN CARRY more people.

I wish PIA would fly more often and more cities to the United States. It cancelled Houston and Chicago and now only operates from New York JFK. There are many Pakistanis here and Etihad and Emriates are sweeping away all the pakistanis customers away from PIA.
