  • This song is timeless. A-ha will live on forever in this song.

  • I been back searching some good 80's songs to enjoy and perhaps remix, so I came across this gem, I'm like in love now. wow! this decade was full of life and artistic brilliance, bring it back people! xo

  • Thumbs up, your totally right. Awesome song. Hauntingly beautiful, I've always loved it.

  • The sun always shines OOOOONNN MEEEEE

TAKE ON ME, TAAAKE MEEE OOOON

  • THUMB me up if you think our great countries ( England and Norway ) are getting overrun by immigration we dont want because we both have enough of our own people to look after first etc . ! And our so called goverments are letting down our OWN hard working class people because of this . And if you think its so soul destroying like me . THANK YOU !

  • @BnptoruntheUk The BNP couldn't run a bath! Just a bunch of thugs, morons and social inadequates.

  • @hurricaneUK Lol and tell me who do you vote for please ?

  • no pants at exactly 3:13 lol

  • I'm not one of those nostaglia freaks who complains everything was better "back in the day" but I can't remember a number one hit with as much imagination and excitement as this recently.

  • i love a-ha! just saw their videos performing till the present. so happy to know that! morten and the guys are really talented. as a teen i was always blown away by his vocals--esp when he sings "in a day or twoooooooo!" when bands would perform that song in parties when i was in college, we would breathlessly w8 for the singer to sing it like morten, haha.

  • who else thinks that patrick swayze, kurt russel and the lead singer from a-ha all have an uncanny resemblence.

  • This song is so awesome!!!

    So is the video. :D

  • One of my favorite a-Ha songs

  • It has power, sophistication and has 80's written al over it. A true classic which fits in every era, simply because they put an effort in going beyond the catchy tune.

  • Seen these guys twice when i was young Brighton and Bristol hipp , i used to have all the leather straps on my wrists!! god i feel old

  • oh god...this song....i'm 15 years old but this song is very good....<3<3

  • This song came out around the time I was born, and is a song my mum holds close because of that.

  • I like AHA so much and it is one of my favourite music icons

  • Hahahah best song ever.. And im 15 :)

  • Amazing

  • did anyone else notice tht when he sings "touch me" it sounds like U2s Beautiful Day when he goes ""reach me, i know im not a hopeless case" lol

  • @xEricTheGothx : not only you and me noticed that, but a lot of people did! U2 was even accused of plagiarism by some of them.

  • I heard this on Opps Tv :)

  • the best them of a-ha. Remenber the 80s.

    Saludos paganos.

  • The 80s was the best decade for Music...nothing like that anymore today.

  • I'm a metal head, but I have to admit, regardless of your taste in music, the 80s produced some awesome bands.

  • A - HA IS THE BEST THE BEST EVER!

  • 50 dislikes! Some people just have no style....

  • @gaywest4298 I guess 50 people didnt go to speaksavers :)

  • i thought it was a key........not a penis.

  • I like what new things they brought to the public. No one would have thought to use a cartoon as a video, or to use mannequins and faces on a wall. Really unique stuff.

  • im really surprised this song didnt get more air play back in its hay day. I always thought this was one of there best songs

  • what a song WOW, i so envy everyone who was around in clubs etc when these kind of songs and groups were smashing it out of the park. have to admit that the 80's RULED!!!!!

  • The sun always shines on t.v. I know that for a fact.

  • @OrthodoxParadoxBox

it's very annoying when the sun shines on T.V. Sometimes you have to close the curtains and shit

  • i always wonder what Morten says in the begin of that clip,

    maybe he just wanna say:

Hey girl tell ya this, next time HE wont forget to draw something inside my pocket, if you know what i mean..hehe.oops sorry, gotte go now, i be back, ... chalk time

  • 0.45 WTF!?!?

  • tenia tiempo buscandola, gracias por haberla traido de nuevo gracias

  • One of my all time favourite songs. Second is Take On Me then Hunting High And Low. Then it's Train Of Thoughts. Amazing how they are all done by A-ha. I love the use of Synth plus with Morten's wide range of vocals, This would be one of the best songs ever made. Anyone know which instruments were used in the starting instrumental? I know one of the Piano but what is that one that sounds a bit like a flute? Many thanks.

    A-ha Forever.

  • so glad i am seeing their final concert. have loved them for 30yrs. it will be a fantastic event but a sad end to a great bands career.

  • A-HA RULES AND NORWAY TOO!!!

  • FANTASTIC

the very moment i heard this song for the 1st time, it was immediately engraved on my mind, i should say )))

it's always striking to realize how good the world music was some a quarter of a century ago

  • The Good old Times :'(

  • Soarele straluceste intotdeauna la TV... :D

  • Classy guys, clip and song.

  • If you dont like this song , theres something wrong with your head , thumb me up if you think im right :)

  • Underrated song.

  • Brilliant song!

  • yesterday(2010-09-140 was the 51 th birthdayt of morten harket...i wish him the best as a singer and go back to the top...louts of kissesxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • 47 people didn't dislike it, its just from when Youtube had a star rating system and they converted it to like/dislike.

  • This song is always going to be one of the greatest things ever recorded.

  • Yes@ 80s rule..you're spot on!! A-HA, OMD, ELO,Spandau Ballet, The Thompson Twins,Nik Kershaw, Simple Minds, U2 at their best, I wish I had a time machine. Life was less stressful, the music was awesome and a Scottish team won a European trophy (Aberdeen) !! The memories will live on through the music!

  • @Sunburst75 Right on my friend! Thank you!!! And the Scottish team won too -- that is awesome!

  • :45 The channel 3 logo is kinda phallic!

  • @Secundas You sound kind of phallic. I'll bet you LOOK kind of phallic too! LOL!

  • I would always wake up to my mother blasting her 80's songs at max volume. That's how I got to like the songs of that generation. xD Thanks, mom. <3

  • Justin Bieber? HAHA ------> No.

    A-HA!

  • @pimpakutya Justin BOOBY !

  • A-ha was performing live in Argentina this past March. I was there in February and I almost changed my return ticket home in order to attend their concert which was their FAREWELL TOUR. Unfortunately, the event was sold-out; so I had to return to the States as planned (by the way, A-HA had not included the U.S. for this Farewell Tour -- and I wonder why!!!).

  • haha voll der häßlige :D:D

    aber der song chillt

  • loved that song as a kid

  • shivers down my spine..

  • Funny how even I grew up in the 70's...and the then the 80's launched the best music of the century...the period from 1980-87 was unprecedented in the magnitude of so much music from so many genre's.

    This ROCKS...

    ; )

  • @RStarga You are so right !!!

  • a wish a wos born in the 70 just so a cud live through the 80's but a wos born in 1992

  • im only 17, and i fucking love this music compared to all the bullshit you get now, wish i were born in the 80's!!

  • This is real music, thanks for posting!

  • I wish i were born in the 80's.

  • What makes the song so mesmerizing, is the fact, that, the lyrics, when you really understand them, are so unbeliveably gloomy...the fact, that they were able to create such an upbeat song, with such morose lyrics, is ample proof of A-HA's genius...

  • to the 47 people who dislike this song, you can go run around in a circle and fuck yourselves!

  • @trinidadparaminman i agree

80srule4ever its a comment not novil

Aha you sneak bastards. they were before their time.

  • la esencia de los 80....forever

  • The brilliance happens in minute 3:.29 to 3:42.

The rest? The naked mannequins? The church? The dresscode?

    No comprendo.

  • manicuens have always scared me since condemned

  • The channel 3 logo looks like a cock

  • @lashlashlashlashlash AHAHAHAH, TRUE

  • WOW LEGEND

  • This is arguably the most romantic pop song of the 80's. we all absorb it our own way. As a Dude.. well, I feel that it's about a boy and a girl laying it all on the line for each other, and being happy about it. Let's face it folks, you don't have to be Optimist to realize that if a couple doesn't feel strongly about each other then they have nothing, on their own.............................

  • haha going to see them by myself on all 3 dates in oslo in december and cant wait, god knows why but have never seen them before and going to make up for it now .im 41 and from aberdeen scotland and a-ha are one of the best melodic bands ever .so any big a-ha fans out there want to meet up for a very expensive pint or tow before the concerts i am more than happy, see you in oslo in december 2010. all the best everyone and take care. jon mcmillan fae aberdeen xxx

  • The best music was from the '80s period. They don't make them like this anymore!!!!

  • @angels2957 NEVER HAVE NEVER WILL, that Era was just blessed it seems.

  • @angels2957 Not exactly perhaps, but have you checked out Ashbury Heights? They are a GREAT Swedish duo commonly thought of as having a flavour similar to that of great 80s alt/synthpop bands, but completely updated for this century.

Please let me know what you think!

  • @angels2957 That's a good thing that they dont [:

  • Im wondering what he says at 0:25 "No" or "Just go"?

  • Most people that were born after 1985, were born into single-parent homes, in which the mother was usually a teenager, with absolutely no clue, on how to raise their children...then the teenage parents turn to drugs, and prostitution, and the children grow up, without any sense of education, morals, or values...you can thank the anti-Western movement of the late 1960's, for all the trouble we're going through now...

  • @TheKwatch si amigo tienes razon que raro no? la musica de los 80's era genial no se porque los tiempos han cambiado pero para mal, hasta ahora no puedo encontrar respuesta... english.. yes friend i agree you . That is son strange... 80's music was so great i dont know why the times has changed but to bad. Still i dont find the answer

  • jaime bien

  • i am 14 years old right now, i started listing to 70's,80's from when i played the game GTA Vice City. So from when i was 7 or 8 years old. I always know as much songs from 70's, 80's as my mom does, shes 40 now.

  • They made songs other than Take on Me?!?!!

  • 1986's song

  • I LOOOOOVE THIS SONG ...IT TAKES ME TO THE 80'S ...AND IM 24 YRS OLD LOL...

  • I must admit for some pepole this song will be sound a gay song.. But i aint gay and i like it :) good song lol...

  • @MeTaLisHSnAkE How can it be a gay song? For one thing, it's about a love story...but, of course, it's agains the law, nowadays, to show any affection for anyone...I'm 32, and I feel like an old man, because these times are all about anger, selfishness, self-centeredness, and suicidal self=loathing...these times are truly, the "Me" generation of history...

  • @GemCan78 there's nothing like gay songs. For those who don't know, music hasn't anything to do with sexual orientation.

  • @GemCan78 I said it sounds gay because of the way the singer sings and the words... "Touch me.. hold me.." things like that.. but again i dont think its gay and a very good song.. and im only 22 years old.

  • Ok, I will post my thoughts: I want to thank those who despite not having been born or did not live through the 80's can recognize that the music of my generation was so brilliant -- because it was. At the same time, I wish there was a time machine to take you all back to those wonderful times, which were indeed simpler but in which we lived fuller and happier lives, so that you too could experience what we did, even if for a few moments. You see, the great music is what made us happy.

  • @80srule4ever

    so true.

  • @80srule4ever

    so true.

  • @blackfeathersplayer Thank you friend! Glad to know we think alike about this!

  • @80srule4ever I'm 15 at the moment and I love music from the 80's, it inspired pretty much all Electro stuff young people listen to today. I would say my favorite music from the 80's is new-wave. I wish I would've been alive in the 80's

  • @MegaMollon Thank you my young friend! You have good taste in music, obviously. Not all people of your generation get it though! Too bad! The 80's were definitely a good time to be young and carefree. Honestly, I would not trade it for a minute -- even with all the gadgets available today -- but then again, it was because we did not have all those gadgets that music was such a big part of our daily lives.

  • @80srule4ever Yeah I love music of my generation too but amazing bands like A HA truly inspired pretty mjuch all popular musicians of today. And yes it seems to me like in the 80's teens would be alot more laid back, now we are always bombarded with work!! Maybe it was the same for you guys. And yes me without a computer and the internet would be like not having a home haha, i really lvoe some 80's fashion as well, ALOT of stuff from the 80's is really coming back!!

  • @MegaMollon Honestly I do not think I could mention one single Pop song made by this generation. In reference to our young lives in the 80's, it was not that we were laid back. We did have our responsibilities too however there was a real sense of connection amongst the young that I do not see happening today. And that connection had a lot to do with music, since we listened to music a lot and watch MTV. The fact that we did not have the gadgets of today, gave us a different perspective.

  • @80srule4ever and it's also very odd to think that in about 50 years time I'll be old (if I'm still alive that is haha you never know what cold go wrong!) and people will be looking at the year 2000 thinking "wow that was soo old" and my life at the moment seeming alien to them. A very wierd though indeed lol

  • @80srule4ever

I grew up in the 80s and it was pretty fucking lame. I think the only decade that has been (slightly) lamer, was the 00s.. but at least that one had the internet growing up.

  • @thepts Hello friend. I am sorry you did not enjoy the 80's - you must have been one of the very few who didn't. I agree with you about the 00's decade, and I would

go a step further stating that it is the worst decade in regards to music, ever! About the 80's however, I have to disagree with you because in all frankness, it was a decade that offered such music variety for all tastes. Having said that, I cannot understand why you did not enjoy any of the music that was available!

  • @80srule4ever i cant believe they made amazing music videos those days.

and i cant believe they have stopped making MUSIC this days, though i like some new songs...SONGS, there not that of MUSIC anymore...

  • @majidarif Yes, the 80's was a decade of total innovation in music because of new instrumentation that was becoming available. Add the advent of MTV and the necessity for bands to make the videos that would reflect the meaning of the song. The videos were never offensive but rather fun, reflective or soulful depending on what the song was about. Bands and singers were not improvised which is why you find the music to be so brilliant.

  • @majidarif Since you like 80's music, check out some other tunes you probably never heard before. They are listed in "my favorites" in no particular order. Cheers!

  • @80srule4ever Well said! Those who were not around to witness the plethora of musical styles & talent around in the 80's REALLY missed out. I feel very sorry for the young uns today, all they get fed is a diet of Simon Cowell manufactured, instanty forgettable drivel. The music industry is in a very sad state of affairs. Glad I was born in 1970!! :)

  • @LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH I absolutely agree with you! I assume you are from Liverpool, so your city alone gave the world some unbelievable talent (I am not just referring to The Beatles), and England in general both in the 60's, 70's and 80's.

  • @80srule4ever I should have said Britain and not England. And I should

include Ireland because many talented bands came from there as well.

  • @80srule4ever Look,I'm 16 so I wasn't enough lucky to live in the '80s.

However this is the truth, I ADORE the music of these years.

In my opinion the great music, the really good, the real music doesn't depend from years or age. If someone is not deaf and enough opened to listen new things - to try out - no matter, how old are you or when do you live.

I enjoy modern music too but the "old" ones are better to me.

Good songs will never be old or forgotted!

  • @Jump21Street You are very wise for your young years. The difference with your contemporaries is that you are open to listen to the music of other decades. The problem is that many kids today refuse to listen to the music of past decades, and in doing so, they are becoming less open minded about other things as well. Your nickname is from 21 Jump Street, the 80's tv series with Johnny Depp? Good for you!

  • @80srule4ever Yes,exactly =) Well,I don't wanna repeate myself . Both of the opinions are true and apposite. I'm happy to have a good conversation with you.

( And something else : I'm hungarian so sorry for the incidental grammar mistakes =) )

  • @Jump21Street Likewise my friend! You are from Hungary? Beautiful country! Your English is very, very good !

  • @80srule4ever Oh,oh :D You made me soooo happy! It's fantastical that you like my country =) Have you ever been there? I'm so happy - really :D

Thank you so much, thank you - I'm learning for it, but actually I love LOVE this language (English lessons are not excercises for me xD)
