Just ordered the first eight books because I just finished Season 1 of TB and it was addictive, to say the least. I keep hearing that Sookie eventually winds up with Eric, which idea I have loved since the first ep with Eric in it. Something about the on-screen chemistry that's not so... generic, like Sookie and Bill feel. Aside from that, I love the realism of Sookie moving on, and the romantic uncertainty.
I would hate for Sookie to end up with Eric in the TV series, just because Anna Paquin (Sookie) and Stephen Moyer (Bill) are together in real life, so for her to be with Eric would get rid of the...realism.
I haven't read the books, but I love the characters in the TV series so much that I don't think the books would really change my mind anyway =P
I agree with this. I mean Anna and Stephen have that chemistry outside and inside the show so it makes BillxSookie perfect. But if she does go with Eric it shouldn't be too bad because it will prove that they are good actors.
i'm in fort lauderdale...work at a restaurant..everyone (staff and customers) was raving about true blood one morning..i was waiting on a couple from boston (she was a fan and heard us talking)...by the end of their meal a complete stranger was asking her waitress, "do you think they're waxing bill's chest in season 2???" lol...

I'm not sure where you live, up here in Canada the final episode of S2 will run on September 13th. Ahhh! I have to wait another week. BUT, I got the DVD's for S1 and have been filling in the extra week with the episodes I missed. Yippee! I'd like to start the books in November. I too hope True Blood lasts a long life. There is a HUGE following, lots of my friends seem to be fans.

I really didn't get hooked on Season 1, but decided to give Season 2 another chance. Well, after viewing ERIC, I was hooked! I'm lucky, I have TMN on demand and have watched all of Season 2, some episodes more than once. My cousin has Season 1 on DVD, which I am going to borrow and watch too. Hello Jessica, these scenes are all from the first season/book though by the time the series mix a little between the books but these scenes are definitly both from the first. While you read the books you will notice that the series does not really follow the books, but I started to read the books durng the second season and it doesn really bother as with the series, where they really careful picked the characters, you can imagine the people in the books more clearly. regards from Germany

I love the fact that Eric...gave her the dagger and they are blood tied. I also lover the way he calls her lover...poor Bill always having to stand outside and feel her lust for another.

Before or in the process of giving her blood right before the fairy war Sookie asks him why he didn't come to her aid and he tells her "she will understand"...I wonder...are we being set up for Eric to disappoint her as Bill once did?

He loses his memory in book 4 and starts remember things in each book but he recalls in book 9 why he was running on her road it is a great book series team eric
bill does try pretty hard. near the end of book 9 (i think) he almost dies protecting sookie from evil fairies. then while he hadn't even recovered from that fight - even though he knew he was going to die - he got up and fought off others for her with what he had left and nearly died again. he told her he'd be happy to die for her or something to that effect. it's hard to stay pissed at him after that. what he said was really touching. ... i'm still all for eric/sookie though
i don't know which eric i prefer: the eric in TR or the eric in the books? eric in TR is pretty serious compared to the eric in the book but the way he carries himself with quiet confidence is so hot and then there's his VOICE <3! yum. eric in the book is funny & perverted which i like too. plus he's more open about his sexuality. this eric reminds me of someone i used to know... who drove me insane the way he does sookie haha. i miss him

i think book 9 is the best since eric is actually himself in that one. plus he practically tells her he loves her when he told her why he was running down her road when he was cursed. there are also other scenes where it's sooo obvious eric is in love with her more so than in any other book.

I agree with everyone saying the book and show are two different things. With the way the show's going, it's only loosely based on the books I reckon. I still think Eric x Sookie in the show would be incredibly hot though ;)
Honestly,I would really prefer that Bill stayed with Sookie,they make such a perfect couple.I know that Eric is cute too, but in my opinion she's much better with Bill, although he had a reason to seduce her.... now I guess that he proved her his real feelings.
The point is that the HBO series has made significant changes; the books are only the *inspiration* for the series. Don't expect the show to copy the book in all respects. Frankly I consider the HBO writer's changes to be vast improvements in some areas.

I agree. I've read all the books and I'm up in the air about Eric vs Bill. The show is much less ambiviant. TV Eric does not stake Longshadow for Sookie. Eric and Sookie's interaction is different. The lines from Scratches "Perhaps I'll grow on you" "I'd prefer cancer" is a world away from the parent dialogue in book 2 "I'm hoping I will grow on you." "Like a fungus?". In the book the dialogue is playful, in the TV series it's a threat follow by an angry rebuff. TV Eric is not couple material.
It's made more juicy or appealing because it's TV but is not always a successful translation or very inspired. Why would TB Eric allow Isabel to see he has inappropriate feelings for Sookie? Eric Northman, of the novels, never allowed that much emotion to show until book 5. He's a sheriff. Why would he so willingly show a weakness? In order to rush up the Eric/Sookie love story, they've allowed other characters to see this...Sookie and Eric didn't, though.
Also I noticed that Eric teases Sookie a lot more in the book than the show, not that it matters a ton. But I do admit, I like Alan Ball's interpretation and the actors/actresses themselves of the characters. If you think about it, if the show was EXACTLY like the book, it would be a bit boring. Like in first book, Bill doesn't seem crazy attached to Sookie like he is in the show. He was portrayed a little differently, which can be a good thing. Just my thoughts...but you do have a good point.

UGH. I would tell you but honestly, it is better articulated in the books. If you like the show, I suggest you read them. The first one is Dead Until Dark. Eric really doesn't become a huge part of Sookie's life until around book 3 -- after that, you are hooked onto Eric.
okay, so the vampire Queen of Louisiana hears about Sookie's talent through Sookie's cousin Hadley. And she gets Bill to go to Bon Temps and seduce Sookie so she can use her power. Eric finds out and makes Bill tell Sookie.
Bill leaves her and cheats on her and in the books after that eric is sweet 2 her then he loses his memory and he stays with her so he is safe but when he gets his memory back he cant remember the time he spent with her but he says he feels diffrent and in the book after that eric is at the hospital with sookie and bill comes and eric says that bill cant leave her alone in case she finds out and sookie asks what he means and bill answers that he was sent 2 bon temps from the start to suduce her

i'm still a teenager but i already prefer True Blood and the books (according to what I've heard of them) over Twilight. I've read only the first 2 books of the Twilight series. i couldn't take anymore. it's too sappy. i've done some research on the books True Blood is based on and i already like them much better than Twilight. there's something about the dangerous allure of the vampires of True Blood that's so intoxicating. please don't lump all teens with livelaughlovek21

i only just started reading the books, and eric/sookie is very emphasized in the books..they havent really even hinted at on the show yet. but it'd be interesting to see that..lol
The books and the show are 2 different things. Bill burned in the sun to save Sookie. Then risked his life again when he staked the vampire to save Sookie in front of Eric. Whatever secrets he's keeping he has proven his true love for Sookie beyond a shadow of a doubt. He may make mistakes and break her heart. But, his love for her is selfless and deep. That can't be denied no matter how much anyone may want to.
Without giving out any spoilers, after having read all the books, my opinion is that Bill's love for Sookie is bona fide. As hot as Eric is, and as interesting, and funny, and Viking-noble, I don't think he'd "meet the sun" or be staked for Sookie or anyone else.

Actually, the more I read about Alcide, the more I agree that he just isn't the one for the Sook. The Pack politics are too weird. Quinn's just a diversion for awhile (I think). I'm pretty much sticking with the books and not even watching True Blood Season 2, just yet - I just read where Eric was smart enough, and caring enough (about his fellow vamps AND Sookie), to pledge loyalty to the King of Nevada. That had to have killed him, inside, but it was a good move - he's the only surviving Sheriff in the Louisiana district. The more his character is developed, the more I like him, even better than before. He has true Viking honor and heroism. (And he's HOT, too!!)
You're right, considering the way he held Layfayette and other people prisoner, torturing them. I just saw that over the weekend on the show (On Demand) and thought it was pretty disturbing. I think the "book-Eric" is a much more likable character.

Hello Jessica, these scenes are all from the first season/book though by the time the series mix a little between the books but these scenes are definitly both from the first. While you read the books you will notice that the series does not really follow the books, but I started to read the books durng the second season and it doesn really bother as with the series, where they really careful picked the characters, you can imagine the people in the books more clearly. regards from Germany

I love the fact that Eric...gave her the dagger and they are blood tied. I also lover the way he calls her lover...poor Bill always having to stand outside and feel her lust for another.

Before or in the process of giving her blood right before the fairy war Sookie asks him why he didn't come to her aid and he tells her "she will understand"...I wonder...are we being set up for Eric to disappoint her as Bill once did?

SPOILER ALERT
bill does try pretty hard. near the end of book 9 (i think) he almost dies protecting sookie from evil fairies. then while he hadn't even recovered from that fight - even though he knew he was going to die - he got up and fought off others for her with what he had left and nearly died again. he told her he'd be happy to die for her or something to that effect. it's hard to stay pissed at him after that. what he said was really touching. ... i'm still all for eric/sookie though

i don't know which eric i prefer: the eric in TR or the eric in the books? eric in TR is pretty serious compared to the eric in the book but the way he carries himself with quiet confidence is so hot and then there's his VOICE <3! yum. eric in the book is funny & perverted which i like too. plus he's more open about his sexuality. this eric reminds me of someone i used to know... who drove me insane the way he does sookie haha. i miss him

i think book 9 is the best since eric is actually himself in that one. plus he practically tells her he loves her when he told her why he was running down her road when he was cursed. there are also other scenes where it's sooo obvious eric is in love with her more so than in any other book.

I prefer book eric hands down. in the show i hope sookie ends up with sam. they have turned eric into this awful guy which he is not. i can't wait to see how they pull it out thier ass in order to turn eric in season 4(book 4) into the eric we all love.

Alright. There is absoluetly no way that the director would cut the sookieXeric pairing completely out of the show.
'member when Long Shadow exploded on sookie because of Bill, yeah, that was supposed to be Eric. There are many many more scene yet to come with Eric and Sookie

The only smart change I've seen so far is keeping Lafayette alive and making him a big character. (best character on that show.)

I agree with everyone saying the book and show are two different things. With the way the show's going, it's only loosely based on the books I reckon. I still think Eric x Sookie in the show would be incredibly hot though ;)

Honestly,I would really prefer that Bill stayed with Sookie,they make such a perfect couple.I know that Eric is cute too, but in my opinion she's much better with Bill, although he had a reason to seduce her.... now I guess that he proved her his real feelings.
I hope they don't follow the books entirely.

The point is that the HBO series has made significant changes; the books are only the *inspiration* for the series. Don't expect the show to copy the book in all respects. Frankly I consider the HBO writer's changes to be vast improvements in some areas.
Bill - as he is in the tv series - gets my vote hands down.

I agree. I've read all the books and I'm up in the air about Eric vs Bill. The show is much less ambiviant. TV Eric does not stake Longshadow for Sookie. Eric and Sookie's interaction is different. The lines from Scratches "Perhaps I'll grow on you" "I'd prefer cancer" is a world away from the parent dialogue in book 2 "I'm hoping I will grow on you." "Like a fungus?". In the book the dialogue is playful, in the TV series it's a threat follow by an angry rebuff. TV Eric is not couple material.

It's made more juicy or appealing because it's TV but is not always a successful translation or very inspired. Why would TB Eric allow Isabel to see he has inappropriate feelings for Sookie? Eric Northman, of the novels, never allowed that much emotion to show until book 5. He's a sheriff. Why would he so willingly show a weakness? In order to rush up the Eric/Sookie love story, they've allowed other characters to see this...Sookie and Eric didn't, though.

Also I noticed that Eric teases Sookie a lot more in the book than the show, not that it matters a ton. But I do admit, I like Alan Ball's interpretation and the actors/actresses themselves of the characters. If you think about it, if the show was EXACTLY like the book, it would be a bit boring. Like in first book, Bill doesn't seem crazy attached to Sookie like he is in the show. He was portrayed a little differently, which can be a good thing. Just my thoughts...but you do have a good point.

UGH. I would tell you but honestly, it is better articulated in the books. If you like the show, I suggest you read them. The first one is Dead Until Dark. Eric really doesn't become a huge part of Sookie's life until around book 3 -- after that, you are hooked onto Eric.

Bill leaves her and cheats on her and in the books after that eric is sweet 2 her then he loses his memory and he stays with her so he is safe but when he gets his memory back he cant remember the time he spent with her but he says he feels diffrent and in the book after that eric is at the hospital with sookie and bill comes and eric says that bill cant leave her alone in case she finds out and sookie asks what he means and bill answers that he was sent 2 bon temps from the start to suduce her

Um no. both of the guys are Vampires.
and the first sookie stakehouse noval was published WAY before Twilight.
So the originalty of the "supernatural love triangle" belongs the Sookie stakehouse books.
don't get me wrong Twilight is okay...if your a kid or teenager.
But True Blood/Sookie stackhouse novals are for adults.
witch I highly doutb your an adult, so I understand why you would like Twilight better.
& if you are an adult I suggest you dont judge it until you read the books.

i'm still a teenager but i already prefer True Blood and the books (according to what I've heard of them) over Twilight. I've read only the first 2 books of the Twilight series. i couldn't take anymore. it's too sappy. i've done some research on the books True Blood is based on and i already like them much better than Twilight. there's something about the dangerous allure of the vampires of True Blood that's so intoxicating. please don't lump all teens with livelaughlovek21

yeah i don't get why twilight is so popular. i mean the idea of a vampire falling for a human is pretty hot but i think the story could've been carried out better.
my parents let me watch TR because they think i'm mature enough to handle it. maybe their parent's don't think they're mature enough :)
i just read a few of the books yesterday. i'll confess that i skimmed a little (wanted to get to the interesting bits like eric :D) but what i did read i liked. eric is so different.

The books and the show are 2 different things. Bill burned in the sun to save Sookie. Then risked his life again when he staked the vampire to save Sookie in front of Eric. Whatever secrets he's keeping he has proven his true love for Sookie beyond a shadow of a doubt. He may make mistakes and break her heart. But, his love for her is selfless and deep. That can't be denied no matter how much anyone may want to.

Without giving out any spoilers, after having read all the books, my opinion is that Bill's love for Sookie is bona fide. As hot as Eric is, and as interesting, and funny, and Viking-noble, I don't think he'd "meet the sun" or be staked for Sookie or anyone else.

Actually, the more I read about Alcide, the more I agree that he just isn't the one for the Sook. The Pack politics are too weird. Quinn's just a diversion for awhile (I think). Now I'm really thinking that it will be home-boy Sam, after all is said and done! She loves her summer days, and loves kids - no vamp can give her that.

Geez, I hope not! If she dies and is "turned" it won't be a good thing - I thought that vamps didn't hang out too much, romantically - not their thing. I keep thinking that the part-fairy aspect to Sookie will come into play at some point, but I have no idea how or when!

I'm pretty much sticking with the books and not even watching True Blood Season 2, just yet - I just read where Eric was smart enough, and caring enough (about his fellow vamps AND Sookie), to pledge loyalty to the King of Nevada. That had to have killed him, inside, but it was a good move - he's the only surviving Sheriff in the Louisiana district. The more his character is developed, the more I like him, even better than before. He has true Viking honor and heroism. (And he's HOT, too!!)

You're right, considering the way he held Layfayette and other people prisoner, torturing them. I just saw that over the weekend on the show (On Demand) and thought it was pretty disturbing. I think the "book-Eric" is a much more likable character.

Not only had Bill had an affair with Sookie but also the Queen of Louisiana told him to find Sookie and subduce her so that the Queen would be on the good side. I forgot which book this happened in but it happened. He was using her.

Awesome Vid! I know Bill really let me down in the 3rd book but i still had hope for him and then Mr. Northman started to pique my interest. So yea i think im Team Eric now, only because Bill in the bks was a little too mean to sookie, but the show has made it so hard to hate him!!!
