  • Was the scene with Abraham Linciln 'speaking" added or taken from another program? There's another YouTube video which supposedly has the entire program, "Disneyland Goes To The World's Fair", but it doesn't have this scene.

  • wow, this is amazing. Even now.

  • This footage doesnt even look like its from the 60's!

  • @xDaXAFImoshmonkey more like late 70's or 80's

  • A forum post from GAC led me to this. I had read that this is a tribute. Hey.. anynew posters. What just happened to Wally?

  • As a historian I feel the need to point out that Lincoln would not be nearly as honored today if he hadnt been assassinated. The radical wing of the postwar Republicans would have targeted him just like they did Johnson because of his lenient reconstruction ideas.

  • @leekenobi21 Lincoln was a Republican

  • @painin2teeth Something most liberals don't know because the left hide it from them.

  • @leekenobi21 How stupid. Historian? Lincoln was a Republican who was assassinated by the left. Just as JFK was. Oswald was on the far left. I am a Republican and everything Lincoln says here represents what our party stands for.. Yes. Time to think outside the box. The libs are so brainwashed into thinking that Republicans are racist that they buy it all the way................

  • Having seen Lincoln's animatronic in 2010, and watching this which is in and of itself amazing, it just shows how far Disney has come with these creations.

  • I MISS THE OLD DISNEY!!!!!! THE tradgic year of 2004 is when disney went down hill. The only thing that really has old disney quality to it is the movies they have now like PIXAR films and Princess and the Frog. John lasseter should be CEO he go back to the old Walt way of things, I think Walt would be proud to have John as CEO, John is like Walt in so many ways

  • 4:24 I was in there today probably about 15 people nowhere near this

  • @itsaguinness That's sad ...

  • Im a good imagineer so Im ready to start working in Disneyland and my job would be to reopen The People Mover and The Carosel of Progress

  • I'm an art major and wanna work at Disney. The company has so fallen since the old days. We need to go back to Mr. Disney's ways. This charismatic man had all the right ideas. we animators need to go back and study him and stay true to his instruction

  • @Philosofy3 I agree!! CGI is nice for the sake of CGI (when it's used to tell the story, like in Rapunzel or Toy Story), but CGI just so you don't have to spend more time and money on hand-drawn animation is a waste! And what few cartoons Disney has on TV today are ATROCIOUS!!!! I'm hoping to be a writer/creative coordinator/story person at Disney someday, like Walt was.

  • @ztslovebird yeah. CG is nice when done right don't get me wrong. Pixar makes wonderful films, but their films are so different for what Disney is known for they can't really be compared. And since Pixar is really the only company that consistently makes films worth watching it is a rare thing to see a good CG film, at least in my tastes. I am studying to be an illustrator/hand-drawn animator. You wanna be a story person? We should get people together for a new Disney Renaissance. Keep in touch

  • @Philosofy3 The reason why Pixar is doing so well is because they're the Disney Brothers Company of the 21st century. The two have a lot of parallels; a film art form that most considered to just be an eccentricity to add to a film when they were first introduced, practically fathered by men who valued story and "plussing quality" above all else, and proved that you COULD make a feature-length movie with the technology and make it a classic for generations to come! Everyone else just . . .

  • @Philosofy3 Everyone else just piggybacks off of what Pixar has already developed.

On a more personal note; if you are interested in working for Disney and are still in college, I would recommend the Disney College Program. It's more of a high school-type job than a career, but from there you can get a Disney Professional Internship, which is much more specialized for your field of interest, and then you can be a full-time "Cast Member" (a title assigned to every Disney employee, not just . .

  • @Philosofy3 Not just the Parks people) That's my plan, anyway.

  • @ztslovebird hey thanks, I'm going to look into that. And I agree 100% that everyone is piggy backing off Pixar. But just like all things in Art it will run in cycles. I think CG will go through the same thing 2d did, which is why I'm not too worried about 2d going away. And back to the college program, I know that that is the way quite a few animators and other people that worked on films got jobs in the studio, that is, starting out at the parks. Thanks for the tip

  • @Philosofy3 Anything to help a fellow lover of the Disney tradition (ink, pencils, and STORY above all else)! BTW, as a member of the Disney College Program, you would also get ALL the Disney Cast Member benefits; season passes, employee discounts, access to the hidden basketball court, etc! There's a member of the DCP on YouTube that I think you should talk to if you want more information; their usernam is MatterOfFicton. Very nice person, and VERY helpful with all things DCP!!

  • @Philosofy3 Although I don't represent the Company, I truly think that what you're seeing is still shown today. The Disney brand is still- state of the art, innovative and still sets the mark in the Theme Park Industry as well as in Motion Pictures. Just my 2 cents..

  • @whitc003 no doubt Disney is state of the art. However it is quite clearly seen that "newer" doesn't equal better. When i criticize the company I am referring mostly to their animated films. Their parks are unrivaled. However their films are atrocious. I recently saw tangled and that is the first Disney production since Tarzan that I thought even came close to deserving the Disney name. Their films have been terrible, and they know it. That is why they bought Pixar in 2006.

  • @Philosofy3 Well I am also at the same time- defending their F/A department. Feature Animation was sure to taper off once digital became mainstream. I give Disney props for at least striving to not completely close that line of business (non CG Films). Disney purchased Pixar after a 12 year relationship. They still released a Feature Animation production each year there-after (2007 Meet the Robinsons, 2008 Bolt, & 2009 Princess and the Frog). I think we're just running out of good stories.

  • @Philosofy3 The largest mascot of the Company up until 7/17/09 was someone who personally worked with Walt, Marty Sklar. Most broadcast or published media of him is that of personal stories between he and Walt. I think there's plenty of heritage lingering around the Company in all forms, from Media to Theme Parks.

  • @whitc003 I am totally with you on that, an that is actually the worst part. There are plenty of people still there. Like Burny Mattinson, he is the only animator that I'm aware of who started working there when Walt was there and still works there today. In my opinion the problem isn't that there isn't anyone around to keep Mr. Disney's standards going, it is that those people aren't in charge. The "bosses" are much more concerned about making money, than entertaining people.

  • @Philosofy3 The standards are there- and always have been. What good company doesn't have bosses who are trying to make a dollar? Even Walt himself- ran everything sponsored- he had to. The Company can only continue to live on through his legacy. His wants for both his Theme Parks, and M/P Productions would have surely changed as technology advanced, but he never lived to see what we've got today. I think both areas of his Company have come miles from where they were and he'd be proud.

  • @whitc003 Walt had things sponsored because he had to true. However Walt didn't start things like "Disney Garden Produce". Which is indeed a real product. I'm not debating the parks at all. However most of the films produced in the past 10 years were not disney quality. Do you know why Disney switched to 3d films exclusively for about 5 years? It is because films like Disnosaurs, Home on the Range, Atlantis, and chicken little that Disney closed their 2d production studios.

  • @whitc003 They shut down their satelite studios in florida and france because their films were not bringing in money. Because they weren't as good as their old films. Princess and the frog is sort of a comeback for the medium. But there is a reason we haven't seen a 2d film for 5 years. And there's nothing wrong with trying to make a dollar I never said that, however Disney has been doing it at the expense of the story. For example. Though Princess and the frog was a box office success

  • @whitc003 Disney wanted more money and so changed the title of "Rapunzel" to "Tangled", fearing boys wouldn't see it. And though there are many talented people at the studio. There is a reason that John Lassetter, the head of Pixar, was made creative director of Disney as well. It is because their films weren't cutting it. More than that, I doubt Walt would be completely thrilled about the princess franchise. Walt was smart, and after his third princess film, sleeping beauty, didn't do well

  • @whitc003 he stopped making princess films. He was no slave to formulas. Though today most of the recent films are princess films. Disney films are not what they used to be in my opinion. Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston, two of the 9 old men, saw many of the post-2000 Disney films. And they were not impressed and thought something was lost. If these men who worked directly under Walt thought that something was lost, I think Walt would too. But ya know, that's just my opinion.

  • @whitc003 I think Disney is capable of much more than they have been producing. The old animators were almost never satisfied with their work. And Walt always had nearly impossible standards that brought out the best in everyone. And I just don't htink that the company consitently produces Walt quality. But yea, just what I think. Nothing to get in a fight about ha ha.

  • hahaha the little kid at 6:45

  • Notice that there is not one single black person in the audience.

  • Actually there is one he is on approx. the front row. He is a lighter black.
