wow just realizing henry is march 9th 09. a family i babysit for had a son, henry on the same date! he is no where near starting potty trained... and he still has a bottle... and paci :/ ahah
I think waiting until your child is totally ready, is the key to success. I waited with my daughter, even though I was feeling pressure to start. I just kept saying over and over, I will start when SHE is ready, and when SHE is showing all the signs. And that's what I did. And she was potty trained in a month, shortly after she turned 2 years old. But I would have continued to wait, even if that meant she was closer to 3 when we started, if that's what needed to happen.Way to go Henry and Mommy!
Wow, on earth did you do that?! My son is only a couple of months younger than Henry and is soooooooooo not ready yet. I don't want to do it till he seems ready, and am waiting for the warmer weather..... summer still hasn't really hit here yet (Australia).
My son still isnt potty trained & he will be 6 in feb :(. He was potty trained for a few months before I gave birth to my last baby back in Oct of 2010. But now he is no longer potty trained at all. So good job Henry!
I am so excited to hear you and JeniP both say that your boys became potty trained when THEY were ready. I am starting the process with Carter (25 months) and he has been asking more and more to sit on his potty. I hope it "clicks" with him like it did Deacon and Henry! Thanks for sharing!
Good for Henry! I completely agree with letting the child take their time. Putting pressure on them to do something they are not ready to do will just make it worse. Great job! :)
Yay Henry!:) My daughter was the same way! She wasn't fully potty trained till she was 2 1/2yrs old. We casually talked about it everyday once she was about 1.5 yrs old and tried to get her on the potty but didn't push it too much. And we decided that she will let us know when she was ready. It was like over night it just clicked for her and she has been gung ho about it ever since:) So happy for you guys:)
My daughter all of a sudden did number 1 on the potty too. And then a few months later number 2. When they are ready they will do it. Some ppl push there kids too much and I think it slows it down even more.
Isn't it amazing how quick they just change! My son just decided one day he would start using the potty, as I was almost ready to give up. lol I was so proud of him, he's been potty trained for about 2 months now, and he still gets very excited and high fives us every time!
so excitin!

Hooray Henry!
And I strongly agree, kids will use the potty when they're ready. My daughter did it all on her own and it was so simple and stress free. :)
