  • Back when you actually had to have a real social life to enjoy multiplayer. Not just having to just sit on your asses and play with a bunch of strangers through the internet.

  • @rootbeer543

But it's great for lonely people.

  • @Svesve777 True. I mean online gaming is good in some cases, but just going over to friends' houses and staying up all night duking it out on Killer Instinct or playing games like Super Mario World and DKC was always great. Now days games rarely have multiplayer adventure modes that let you do that.

  • Masterpiece...

  • donkey kong > mario

  • Is it weird that I got goosebumps hearing this?

  • @JohnnyLeyenda No, I did too o.o

  • @JohnnyLeyenda

If you didn't i would worry.

  • Seriously. HOW good is this game?

    The art.

    The music.

    The gameplay.

This game made me fall in love with not just video gaming....

But with art and music as well.

    Incredible.

  • its a dark little beat but it has a hope sound to it? like 'light @ the end of the tunnel" type-of-shit

  • Gotta love Rare-games. =) This one reminds me of conveyor belts. =P

  • its weird going to sleep at night and having a dream where youre still a kid then waking up as a 22 year old

  • 1:10 = nostalgia

  • ahh no con esta wea me pongo a llorar, meakuerdo cuando jugaba al llegar del colegio toda la tarde :'(

  • Even though I was born in 97 this game is one of my favorites. N64 & SNES 4Ever :)

  • 0:27 = NOSTALGIC GOOSEBUMPS! :')

  • i don't remember the chorus part coming in so quickly

  • @Actionboy619 Terrible troll.

  • @TheDayMang umad

  • @Actionboy619 Yes. Very mad. Forever. About comments on youtube on a music track from an SNES sidescroller about anthropomorphic apes

I feel like you're staring into my soul, bro

  • @TheDayMang dry

  • @TheDayMang lol hes pathetic i flagged him for spam just for you :)

  • @Actionboy619

mmmm, nothing like modern warfare 3!

  • @Actionboy619 hmm your shit

  • This song conveys a feeling of loneliness and melancholy - it's perfectly fitting the extensive caves and mines the levels and music take place in. David Wise & Co. did a fantastic job in creating the DK-soundtracks.

David Wise is and will forever be my favourite soundtrack-composer.

  • One of the many reasons why I choose Nintendo over Sony, nuff said.

  • Sniff, ah Nintendo... =)

  • They did a great job remixing this in DKCR.

  • I listened to this on my ipod while I was riding on the Knott's Berry Farm Calico Mine Ride!

  • who da fuck dislike this

  • @arr3stth3f3ds the tourette guy

  • This song is WAY ahead of its time

  • @playstationninja Everything in DKC was ahead of it's time.

  • What do you guys think sounds better? Life in the mines or Mining Melancholy from DKC2

  • @dajamsteryo STOP ASKING IMPOSSIBLE QUESTIONS! My brain is meeeellllllttttttttttttiinng....

jk I haven't even played DKC2 (I know, a terrible crime) but I just looked up the song and although the feel is entirely different I LOVED IT!

  • @snakeisninja right!? I can't even choose

  • @dajamsteryo I hunted down a friends SNES and started playing DCK2

    I LOVE IT :D

  • @snakeisninja Great!! I miss my DKC2 I don't know where it is anymore :(

  • This game is awesome

  • Guys!! DAMMIT! I love David Wise, believe me. BUT You need to give credit to Eveline Fischer too! She made jungle hijinx music, the overworld theme the crystal caverns theme and ALL the music of DKC 3

  • @CloudOfDarkness9999

Actually no, it was Dave Wise who made the Jungle Hijinx theme, Eveline did make the overworld theme and the Crystal Caverns Theme yes, and she didn't compose ALL the music for DKC 3, both her and Dave composed them, she probably did more tracks though.

  • @NeonSolar She did compose almost all of DKC3

  • @CloudOfDarkness9999

Maybe most of them, but not all of them, you know what I mean though anyway so..

  • GOD! do i really miss tha donkey kong games i wnna play em NOW!!!

  • Actually I'd rather see Retro Studios keep on with the series. I think that Rare has completely lost their touch and it's hard to see them regain it. David Wise is also making less impressive music now than before. Though it would be awesome if they made a comeback, but hard to imagine.

  • Another incredible Dave Wise track. One that a full orchestra would sound good playing,

  • Is it kinda bad that i'm rapping to this song?

  • I'd just go to winkys walkway to listen to this song, and I'd go to oil drum alley to listen to fear factory all the time.

  • I used to play Donkey Kong all the time with my older brother in the mid 1990's when we were young and life was so simple. I have such great memories playing this game. Long live Donkey Kong and Super Nintendo.

  • My favorite part is at 1:10 It just feels...right.

  • i miss the 90s

  • I'm going to do something with this in Fruity loops studio. This is so nostalgic *sigh* Now i'm all old and stuff lol.

  • Winky!

  • The best song from the first one in my opinion

  • i meant donkey kong

  • Rayman was a good game 2 i miss it :[ even though i never played this i wish i had.

  • Miss you.

    You miss me.

  • Miss you.

  • OMGGGGGGGGGGGG someone should SO do a drum n bass or dubstep remix to this, its got the right beat!!!!!

  • @raneanubis WTB DUB STEP WITH ALL THIS SONGS

  • @raneanubis There are several good remixes out there. Try for example the one by Sadorf, Sir Nuts. Some good shit, even if it's not dubstep

  • Best game of all time!

  • 1:10 epic

  • Awesome gameplay

    Awesome levels

    Awesome soundtrack

    Awesome game...Nuff said

You say Mario rippoff, fine, but I just enjoyed the hell outta this game and still do, but ey...It'll never be like the first time when you were BLOWN AWAY ^^

  • @SolidMike84 how the heck is a game that comes from the same Company and originated from the original and very first Mario game "Jumpman" a Super Mario ripoff? And aside from being a platformer it doesn't even have much in common since the gameplay is much different... O_o

  • @LinkEX

The collecting of golden...Things, I guess and the jumping :P

Some reviewers who at the time gave this game super high rating, but later wrote that it was basically a SMB ripoff

Some people see this, other people see that, I just played it and had alotta fun ^^

  • @SolidMike84 its funny cause mario's first appearnce was in the original donkey kong...so mario is actually a donkey kong ripoff :o and yes this game is legendary

  • damn son

  • The DKC1 soundtrack is amazing. While DKC2 is epic and sweeping, DKC1 tends to be more ambient, something extremely rare in platformers. I think that it gives the game an unique charm.

  • Oh my god, I remember this song.... It's just about the only song I remember from this game besides the title music.

This song is so epic, and shows the darker side of the game, how it wasn't all banana trees and jumping on beavers and crocodile dudes and riding rhinos.

How it was a maze of dark tunnels, where anything could come out and take all of your lives without you realizing...

  • Rare is now by microsoft and all the rights for donkey kong are by nintendo...that SUCKS!!!!

  • i remember playing donkey kong country with my older sister fuck time goes by

  • Wow, this song sure brings back good memories. DK was one of the best original videogames with some of the best music!

  • The Flute kinda sounds like the Christmas song "Silver Bells" LOL

  • Mmph. This doesn't sound like a mine much, more like a swamp. Having stuff like chain sounds or clanging would make it miney. Still, it's an awesome sound.

  • @alternalose i dont know if youplayed the game, but the music really fits the level!

  • It does have clanging noises....

  • @alternalose It sounds a lot like a mine to me, but there is a FEW spots where it does sound a bit like it could be a swamp theme, but not many.

  • This song makes me depressed :(

I miss the days of super nintendo

  • I hear ya man!!! I miss the 90's!!!

  • @Cherrypoppins18 The SNES days were the best days of gaming... So many amazing games, so many amazing memories. Nintendo needs to give us DKC 4 with Donkey, Diddy, and Dixie as playable characters. (Not sure if anyone liked Kiddy, lol)

  • @soadbro Amen brother. No joking around, if nintendo were to buy back rare and make DKC4 I would jizz in my pants.

    P.S. I liked kiddy :P

and all the other kongs, dk the most though.

  • @Cherrypoppins18

Well now there is a new DKC coming out for the Wii.

  • @killersithlords Ya, I know, I saw it at E3, I am so excited. Of course, like everyone else, I just hope they dont screw it up. Crossing my fingers.

  • @Cherrypoppins18 You mean DKC5. Still, that would be damn awesome! 'Specially considering how much Rare likes to make a game look good, i.e. rendering fur, skin, and other textures realistically! Just look at Star Fox Adventures or Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts!

  • @Cherrypoppins18

they made DKC:R. unfortunately the remixes are kinda disappointing but as a whole it's a pretty good game.

  • @Cherrypoppins18 same here my friend

  • @Cherrypoppins18 Same here. But in Donkey Kong Country Returns this song is back. And it doesn't sound too remixed. But it is remixed.

  • @DarknessWeaver I know I've got DKCR. The new game is actually pretty sweet. In some aspects it's actually better than the original. Unfortunately it takes the atmosphere of most modern nintendo games and is a little too cheery for my taste. I loved dkc for its meloncholy tunes and environments, not to mention the kremlings were pretty badass :P

  • @Cherrypoppins18 and I miss the days of DKC, first parts not DKC returns.

  • @Cherrypoppins18 When I start to miss the SNES................I just swivel on my chair and turn it on! :D

  • @Cherrypoppins18 i agree

  • Great! I really like this song!

  • its sad to see that most of those old topgames are killed by modern technology like 3D :s

1or 2D had its own great atmosphere

  • yes it did!! wit 2D games, it was all about the experience and the gameplay, not about the beautiful graphics

  • @JCKH2 Even though, with the Donkey Kong Country trilogy, it had awesome graphics for its time, along with badass gameplay / music.

  • Say what you will about DKC, but there is no denying the game had an incredible atmosphere - in my opinion, even much moreso than it's sequels which no doubt excelled above DKC in other areas. They all have that... charm, but the original DKC has it in the simplest, purest form.

  • this game is only second to my game resident aliens 7 which will not be made till 2011 so until then this is the best game evr

  • bubsy:look where that went on bubsy 3 so sad

super monkey ball:when they made adventure multiplatform man just look at those scores its really sad

RARE:banjo and conker arent what they used to be :( and everything else :(

sonic: poor guy needs money and thinks he will make money on the other platforms just look at the 2006 sonic the hedghog game now look at secret rings and mario and sonic. nintendo is the best thats enouph to say it all.

  • truth! games aren't as good as they used to be, most of the classics are destroyed. 1 word, 2D

  • guys dont deny we all know it true when a company leaves nintendo it drops im bieng dead serious read my other comment right next to it

  • I would purposely stall in these stages just to hear the music. I love the part that starts at :28

  • This game was a milestone in graphics and music for snes

  • DKC4, wouldnt that be something for the wiiware?

  • donkey kong country 4?

    would be awsome except

    donkey kong 64 is dkc4

  • ok fine....donkey kong country 5....happy?

  • i'am happy yeah... nah just kidding

i was just letting you know that dkc4 is

    dk64

    i didnt mean to offend

allthough can understand if the message does offend.

as for dkc5 it would be nice to play a new dkc game except the old ones are too great they would probably make the new one look crap like they did with banjo kazooie N&B

  • @idpaul No it isn't. Just like Yoshi's Island is not SMB5 for those who think it is.

  • Well if they made DKC4 that would be awesome

but at the moment im kinda waiting for the DK64 to come on XBLA or WiiShop

  • I repeat from other dkc best VGMs:

DAVID WISE IS A FUCKIN GENIUS: WE NEED MORE DKC WITH RARE AND DAVID WISE:

  • @Castortroyy FUCK RARE! Sellouts!

David Wise should form a crew with the other great guys that used to work for them! That's what we need!

  • @Castortroyy SPECIALLY MORE DAVID WISE, CUZ RARE SUCKS ASS NOW

  • The only bad song in this soundtrack is Misty Menace. Everything else is gorgeous, particularly this one (Ice Cave Chant and Fear Factory being my personal favorites).

  • 0:28 - 0:34 sounds like "Ring the bells (Ring the bells) Silver Bells (Silver bells)"

  • lol no

  • totallly agreee

  • dude donkey kong county has always had freakin awsome music every song is good everysong garunteed.

  • this fits the mood of the level perfectly. i wish new games would take the time to make the music match the environments more, it seems like game developers are just lazy and throw anything out knowing it will make money.

  • Exactly. Most of the video games that r out have the music from random rock bands and shit. They need 2 have more games that fit wit the gameplay more!!!

  • Mass Effect, Silent Hill and Zelda games are about the only ones lately that have badass music

  • Excelente! buena cancion! good track!

  • This song is better than I remember. Thanks.

  • This was one of a few songs I picked out during my recent replay of this game as being something special. The Factory, Coral Capers, and Ice Cave themes (don't know the titles, sorry!) being the others. And the final battle, of course. I fully agree with the comment that the DKC OST was about atmosphere, and yet it also manages to have some very intricate melodies that work outside of the atmosphere of the game.

  • What I love about the original Donkey Kong Country OSt was how the music was more about 'Atmosphere'. And the 'Cave' and 'Mine' themes are among the most atmospheric.

One particular theme was the 'Stop and go Station' mine theme. It was just so creepy you can feel chills down your spine listening to it.

  • Somehow on the first time I tried the Stop & Go Station (as a kid), I found out that walking to the left at the beginning skips most of the level...

  • Found that out from an issue of 'GamePro' I had.

Also found out something a little similar with 'Cart Carnage'

  • Supra, you might as well put up every track from the three DKC games. Amazing soundtracks.

  • LAWL.

    Great song.

  • I added Deep Jungle from KH to my favorites a few days ago too, looks like we're on the same track for now.

  • This was one of the ones I really liked too, but "Ice Chant" was more special to me since it only was played on one level...

  • I really like that song also. I hope to see it on this list soon.

  • Wow, this is good enough to fit in an action RPG. And you don't see that kind of genre-mixing music too often in video games.
