He also falls flat when he tries to sing "in the night" at 1:40. I've analyzed his singing and compared and unless you're deaf, you can hear he goes flat at certain times. Arnel performed 2 concerts in California with another filipino singer in front of Filipino fans on Jan. 25 & 31. The next day he has to fly to Florida for pre game show.That's why he dosen't look amazing in this concert. But he still sound okay to me. Just watch all the videos of Arnel singing with the group ZOO Band. and you will be amazed.

I notice that last year he put on a big show, and this one he's just standing there concnetrating on singing. He had some trouble spots there. Shows he's "stressed".
Yep, I noticed as well...I think he should return to singing the way he did last year on tour. He's seems to be sounding too much like Perry here, and that's not why I warmed to him in the first place. His own voice with it's goosebumps inducing vibrato is so much better...Oh and that stage doesn't look big enough for him to bounce around like he did on the tour. Where is South Detroit-a? Does he mean South Detroit? LOL Perry barely pronounces the t in Detroit whereas Pineda pronounces the t and adds a vowel sound a to it for no reason. He also falls flat when he tries to sing "in the night" at 1:40. I've analyzed his singing and compared and unless you're deaf, you can hear he goes flat at certain times. quintusmaximus: This is my comment and I'm not deaf : I admire Pineda but if you are keen musician it is very obvious to know that some notes are way flat & his voice are strained. He should give more preparation to this concert than Lani m. coz people here are international and I can't blame them on thier negative comments coz it's obvious. Do you admire Pineda because he is a kind man and a good musician? If so, it's your right. He is a good musician over all and seems to be a very kind person. In this video, if you look, it appears he has a bad head-cold or something of that nature. Look at his face. Anyway, if you do go flat in relation to the original then there is a clear, distinct difference between the original and the cover artist.
race. People need to look at the vocals, sound, not race.

I agree with you Quintusmaximus, Arnel really struggle to this one, but it doesn't mean He's a bad singer, everyone had their day off. Perry is Perry, but Pineda is the closest replacement of Steve.

Correction Please....Arnel was NOT replacement to Steve Perry, NOPE! Arnel took the job to be "lead vocals" of the band JOURNEY! Now hes' the Original frontman of Journey! He never sounds any other Singer in this world. Arnel PINEDA has his own tune/sounds and style, maybe he was only singing the JOURNEY songs in which SPerrys' in vocal at that time! NOW its' Arnel PINEDA TIME and He RULES it!! "FEEL THE CHANGE"!!

like i said, it doesn't matter whether a performer feels good or not, THE SHOW MUST GO ON...and I still admire ARNEL for hitting the high notes even if he doesn't feel well...and that's what I call PROFESSIONALISM!

Ya, I noticed the audio was too low, because I recorded it direct thru digital box. Usually before my dvd recorder was connected direct to cable TV. Sorry for that.

Arnel is strained singing with two different bands different style of music and with different audience. Lani's band sings pop music and He should'nt be there in the first place.She's just using Arnels fame. Arnel should concentrate with journey as a rock performer or he will mixed up his performance style. Perry is a Legend with respect but his prime is due.He's not coming back for sure.Accept the reality plz. ty.

Arnel performed 2 concerts in California with another filipino singer in front of Filipino fans on Jan. 25 & 31. The next day he has to fly to Florida for pre game show.That's why he dosen't look amazing in this concert. But he still sound okay to me. Just watch all the videos of Arnel singing with the group ZOO Band. and you will be amazed.

litodizon: I agree with you. In the interview, Arnel admitted the consequence of his health and had ask for public apology. The reason that he was stress out singing between 2 concerts bothways. The Society of Seven and Journey. Actually I like him singing with Lani.I hope Lani Misalucha will hire Pineda in thier band or journey will hire Lani M. with Arnel. That's what I called new revelation. Do u think so?

What i've noticed is that those who hate current frontman were SP fan not a Journey fan. Even if we lose past Journey fan just because of the new frontman but we're gaining more and more and more Journey fans with the current and future generations. SP fan may hate AP but guess what, i asked kids, teens and early twenties -- they love JOURNEY!! Sorry SP fans, but that's a fact

Amazing performance I can't believe Springsteen got center stage and not these guys. These guys have a lot more energy than Bruce. I like the guys jacket. New journey Frontman fits like a glove. Great choice. Amazing singer.

arnel's voice just does not cut it. very very bad. imagine if journey's original singer was arnel....would they have made it as a big rock band with sold out arenas??? nope. god, who's more out of tune, the back up or him????? sounds like a bunch of untrained boys singing. no matter how much arnel struggles, he sounds like he's fighting under water. the music is played very well as usual. but neal & jonathan are backstabbers to steve perry.

Regardless of what people say, you can't change the past-Journey's "Revelation" has just been been officially declared"PLATINUM." Their concert was a top grosser last summer 2008. They have made MILLIONS!! What have you HATE-MONGERS got? You could work your butt off for the next 10 years, yet you wouldn't be able to pay off your debts!! I totally agree and noticed that. They push him too hard and have him singing in a key a tad too high for him. Um, ala what they did with Steve Perry on occasion? Yup.
I notice that last year he put on a big show, and this one he's just standing there concnetrating on singing. He had some trouble spots there. Shows he's "stressed".

Yep, I noticed as well...I think he should return to singing the way he did last year on tour. He's seems to be sounding too much like Perry here, and that's not why I warmed to him in the first place. His own voice with it's goosebumps inducing vibrato is so much better...Oh and that stage doesn't look big enough for him to bounce around like he did on the tour. No room to execute his gravity defying jumps. Surely you don't the guy to hurt himself now, do you?

Watching this video just erased any skepticism I had of Arnel Pineda. He has an amazing voice. He is Not Steve Perry,and I sure wish Steve Perry would come out of retirement! However, Arnel PIneda did an amazing job!
