They all sounded the same, each song gayer and lamer than the one before. It's a sad time we're living in. Thank god for Cynic and all the real metal out there. Fuck me I'm not bringing a kid into this world.

@XxDELIVERENCExX Yes but then they wouldnt have their signature sound. Back in the early 90s when Cynic came out into the scene they were somethin different, metal with a new sound. If they changed to vox without the vocoder effect then they wouldnt have their full unique sound.

vv and I don't mean simplified in a bad way I mean it as greater level of maturity in their music and is neccisary for the songs to sound the way they do (if they were playing it like Focus it just woulnt sound right).

Both of Cynics albums (Focus and Traced in Air) are near perfect (or perfect in my opinion) but the sound is different on both. Focus had robotic vocals, phenomenal guitar work and dead on drumming, not to mention it was a huge influnce on countless technical death metal bands everywhere. Traced In Air had better lyrics, production simplified sound for more emotion and the drums got even more technical. And if this is how their next album sounds it will be unlike the other 2 and just as amazing.

Yes indeed. The new Cynic album is in pre-production stages and shall be out in the summer of 2011. Robin and Tymon though have recently left the band. The reason was as those two are residing in Netherlands while Sean and Paul are residing in Los Angeles. Robin and Tymon are also working on their new release with their band " Exivious" anyhow this should all be cool. Loved the line up though with these two in the band.

I saw them live back in August, definitely the most amazing show ever. They played all of Focus and most of Traced in Air. Didn't play KOTWK or either of the Nunc songs. Paul also played Integral alone on his acoustic guitar.

Great song. Traced in Air is one of the most beautiful and amazing albums I've ever listened to. It made me want to cry man tears of joy. I hope they come out with a new full length album by the end of next year. I need me some more Cynic!
