  • Thanks for this video clip. this is so useful.

  • ดูแล้วเพลิน

  • some of those wobbles started to scare e :P

  • just to be sure is it clay? and is that spinning wheel called a pottery?/potters wheel? reply back plz

  • How do you bury it ? for instance, does it have to be in between the plants? Also, how far or how many plants can it water?

  • woooo dat was amazing!!!!!!

  • At what cone should it be fired too ?

  • cool

  • Love the mastery of his workmanship

  • Hi Dan. I'm a big fan of yours, though, I'm only 16! I'm in Advanced College art where we have to try all forms of art. I love throwing, an I do it pretty well. BUT, I suck at centering so bad. You make it look so easy! Any tips?

  • maan i heard somewhere it not as easy as it looks....

  • I don't really see this working with stoneware, since it's relatively non-porous. Do you know what kind of clay is usually used?

  • @HarmlessBystander Apparently it's just really low fired terracotta so It's really pourous ...and pretty fragile too.

    Cheers,dan.

  • It's always a pleasure to watch you, but how is it a self-watering pot? (Too lazy to read all those comments.)

  • @turuanu Hi,It's because it's low temperature fired and pretty pourous the water can slowly seep out of the pot and into the soil apparently.

    Cheers,Dan.

  • Man I wanna try this soo bad

  • looks fun and cool, i wanna make one and paint it lol

  • ghost i love this creation

  • just watched another of your vids, then this one. again i say you've got some crazy skills. throwing something that fast, with little wobble and thin. that takes some work

  • Dan, I have just started pottery, and I never saw anyone center clay so quickly! Please make more tutorials! Keep up the great work!

  • is this a dark bodied/low fire clay?

  • @racestarter88 I believe it is a standard Red Earthenware Terracotta body

  • I made one but it was out of stoneware and I think I made the way too skinny. I love your videos they have really been helping me out alot. :)

  • Hi im interested to know, what do you use to make the clay??? can you give me a recipe to make the clay?? thnak you very much

  • dang i wish i could do that

  • good i love it !!!!!!!!!

  • superrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • if the water has to ooze our what cone do you fire these to? something along the lines of a low bisque? close to a pit fire or something

  • Wonderful, it looks so easy too.

  • the key word there is LOOKS

i can never even center the dam piece of clay

  • That's true, once that is mastered you can do everything else.

  • @converse48 slow you wheel down, its actually a LOT easier at first if your wheel is slower when you center. make your body go rigid and tuck your elbows in.

  • Probably couldn't use one of these here in Alaska; the frost heaves in winter would shatter it, most likely. Maybe if you only partially buried it? That way it wouldn't be crushed by the expanding and contracting earth.

  • TE FELICITO POR TU TRABAJO

  • Dan, what kind of a wheel are you using? I like the big tub. Thanks for the great video. I've made a few and going to try them in my California vegitable garden. Maybe flog a few.

  • can you put these in the ground where the ground freezes solid?

  • Dan...did you try any of these in your garden? I used a small one beside a tomato plant and it really worked. When I dug it up in the fall there were roots around it.

  • We didn't have any need for watering over here in England this year as it was the wettest Summer ever.

I suppose I could put an empty one in next year and use it to draw the water out of the soil.LOL.....

    Cheers,Dan.

  • You might be onto something there. Put little sponges in them:)

  • I just went on the map and saw where you are located. No wonder you don't need to use olla's! I never noticed your location before:)

  • how long have you been doing this?

  • lol sorry im a teenager who texts all the time haha :p

but yes your an awesome potter, way better than me, i just put classical music on when i watch your videos. the silence bothers me lol

  • ur not much of a talker huh

  • he's a listener (:

  • thats fuken good

  • wow!!

  • I wish you can make my ceramic pots for school lol. It just takes me forever to make something. You just make many in minutes! And they turn out to be perfect!

  • I dig your no nonsense approach to makng pots.

    Very nice. Thanks

  • Dan, thanks for the side view. Terrific

  • LOL Alyzabeth! I have some like that too...

If you want a slow waterer to bury, just poke a nail hole in the bottom of an old milk jug and plant it with your plants. I've rescued transplants in the dog days of summer this way. Fill as needed.

  • I was wondering if you used a low fire clay . Seems like this would be more porous, but maybe too porous.

  • I'm not sure, probably just biscuit firing it would be OK.

I really don't know,I suppose It depends on how fast you need it to seep through.

    Dan

  • @leweeja66 most clay is fired at cone 06(low) the first time it is fired, but most glazes are cone 6(mid)

  • Too nice to put under the ground :)

  • I agree, it doesn't look like something you should bury :) Clever idea though, I'd like to try and make one to see if it works! Nice new angle for the camera :)

  • Absolutely perfect demonstration! Thank you a thousand times over. I am heading to my wheel now to try this.

  • I just had to add, I must be one of the lucky ones because after 3 hours of making these, mine really should be buried:)

  • Hahaha! I doubt that! Thanks for the laugh
