Too interesting. American cars are critized by usage of Ohv. But, one of the most expensive car is also using that. Its really interesting because , I am curious , what Jeremy or Bmw or Mb fans would say!
@newmonarchii I think that you mean pushrods not OHV (over head valves) all modern automobile engines use OHV but many use OHC's (over head cam) instead of pushrods to open the valves. The Bentley 6.75L V8 is a very old design that has been continuously updated but it's basic architecture dates from the 1960's.
The rich have the buying power. Walmart has the selling power. The Bentley has the legacy of power. There seems to be a gap between who can buy the vehicle and who can't.
@bceugene12345 are u actaully a f***king wa***r. gas engines are the best, they r pure mechanical solid engines one of the few thingsthat still work mechniccally. Combustion engines are like handmade watches everything has to be right for it to work and is made mechanically because its teh best way. I cant beleive that you want to have some shitty electric engine that does 1 mph. doesnt make a noise nad looks liek shit. get ur thoughts set out straight! the MECHANICAL combustion will never die!!
Brabus makes better engines. This is a 6.75L with 505 HP and 752 lb ft. Brabus has a 6.3 with 730hp with almost 1000 Torque.. sometimes even over 1000 torque.. I think you over pay with Bentley
@NoxNoctisUmbra the brabus engine is probably a more efficient engine being based on newer design merc unit. But they are not trying to extract as much power as possible from this engine - it runs much slower. More power does not necessarily mean 'better' engineering. The original design of this engine was from the 1950's, pushrods et al. What I like about this engine is that VW put vvt, variable lift, turbos and improved the efficiency of an old style of engine and brought it up to date.

Each bolt is hand tightened by mechanics with an average of 16 years experience. More sophisticated than tightening with a torque wrench.

Válvulas movidas por varillas y balancines, con árbol de levas abajo. ¡Qué atraso!

that many hours of work and what in the end - YUGO, in nice red colour, even Clarkson say it rubbish, and I agree.

@davepamn What do you mean?

What are the highest costs of a Bentley engine? labor, materials, or complexity
davepamn 1 year ago
@gavquinn I'd say labour.. The engine is an old design, I reckon the most moeny is spent on the coachbuilding, and interior

Will Bentley outsource the assembly of their engines to reduce cost?

@davepamn they're not walmart. they're bently

The good old internal combustion engine. I hope it's around all the time I'm alive. I'm surprised this engine is OHV and not OHC.
