@chaingangsergeant00X Well, I'll explain it to you. The Exorcist is incredible. The Exorcist 2: The Heretic is terrible. The Exorcist 3: Legion is amazing! The Exorcist: Dominion is a prequel to The Exorcist 1. The Exorcist: Beginning is sort of a remake of The Exorcist films in general! So Dominion is more of a prequel then The Beginning! I saw the first 10 minutes of The Exorcist: Beginning and I sort of lost interest but the 3rd one is amazing and I am currently seeing Dominion and it's great

The Exorcist was a masterpiece that to this day cannot be matched or succeeded. Part 2 was a disaster, Part 3 was boring, The Beginning was laughable and Dominion I must admit was better than The Beginning but was still boring.

Making prequels and sequels to The Exorcist will never be a good idea because nothing can compare to the original. It's best to leave The Exorcist to stand alone in its greatness!

the first one was just a classic: it was very smart and applied psychology rather than graffic horror (although that vomiting was just stupid lol). But all of the sequels/requels and ripoffs are ruining its legacy.

The Exorcist should NEVER have become a franchise.It worked perfectly well as a 'stand-alone' film,as evidenced by the fact that people are STILL talking about it 37 years later.Both prequels didn't work for me simply coz the makers had cgi,which just reduced both films from what could've been high-shock value interpretations to gimmicky slf-indulgencies.E2 was just a mish-mash,E3 had some shock elements,don't even talk about any of the others,lol.The original wins,EVERY time.

The first part of this video is The Beggining it goes all to 0:38 (ends here) and from 0:38 Dominion begins (new movie).

Anyway, *The beggining* Movie is not so scary as dominion. Thats because its more visual, just like someone else said.. Alot of blood, gore and stuff like that.

Dominion: There is not much blood and gore here, but its alot more scarier because of the dark atmosphere and everything is.Secret and hidden. Your eyes wont suffer here cuz of tearing limbs and such but ur mind will.

That's right. Morgan Creek, the production company, didn't like the film, so they had it rewritten and hired a new director to reshoot it. They still had the original 'Exorcist: The Beginning' lying around, so they titled it 'Dominion' and released it later.

Dominion isn't a scary movie, although it is a horror film. It is primarily here to show you the events of when Merin was in Africa when he discovered the church and the possessions, and where he ultimately met his darkest and deepest foe: Pazuzu. If you are interested in the story behind that then it wouldn't be a waste to watch it, but if you just want something scary and horrifying this movie is not the right one.

the beginning and dominion are sort of the same film, just directed by 2 different people, hence 2 very different ideas on how the legacy should have continued, in my opnion the only way it would have worked is if warner got william freidkin to direct and will.peter blatty to script.

paul schrader directed dominion and when he finished the movie and presented the final cut to warner bros, let's just say they weren't happy, they fired mr.schrader and shelved dominion. warner bros. then brought in renny harlin to remake dominion and his finished version is excorcist the beginning,so warner released the beginning in cinemas and it didn't perform so well,so when it was released on dvd warner deceided to also release dominion too, probably to cash in for what they spent on both.

When it comes to pleasing fans of the original I think Beginning did better with referencing it, but this was good too. I liked how it shows more of the deceiving side of evil which is more real to me. However that strikes me more as the Devil's job. This is Pazuzu (really just a demon) and honestly I think Beginning did a better job showing him. The original went by recorded exorcisms. This is great too, but I'm just saying it didn't work as well concerning the series as Beginning did.

See this is like Heretic for me. As a horror movie it fails, but it adds on with more facts and religious stuff. In it's own way it's great. What bothers me is that we have to pick one prequel over the other. One scarier movie over a more serious movie. The original used both. I'm not saying either version is bad, but I hate how neither could really do both.

This trailer was indeed for what is now called Dominion. Basically, Warner and Morgon Creek wanted an Exorcist prequal, one was shot, but the companies didn't like it. So they shelved it and shot another one, The second was released with the title Exorcist: The Beginning. It didn't do well so they finally released the first as Dominion

The central story about personal responsibility and remorse at evil (regardless of whether you could have done anything about it or not) is very important, especially for these times of New-Age egoism and "positive-thinking"...

I was very confused!I think overall "The Beginning" is better but I liked the idea in "Dominion" where the cattle are killing the hyenas then dying cos there bodies cant have meat! Very good! The difference is, what I remember, that beginning had very cheesy cgi that made the movie more stupid, and it was basically a gore and gross-out fest. Dominion is much more serious, with dark atmosphere. Also, the finale with the demon at the end is SOOO much better than the one in Beginning.

This is a lovely movie. It's more psychological horror than visual horror. I think it is very well done. I prefer this one instead of "The Beginning", although that is also a good movie, but with more visual horror. I guarantee it: Dominion is the only movie that gave me the shivers....
