  • black people can have natural straight hair depending mixed or not reasearch people

  • black woman that are proud to be top- of- the- line do not and should not need to chemicalize there hair,AS A BLACK MAN SPEAKING FOR ALL BROTHERS,WE LIKE YOU NATURAL

  • Damn as a black man I have to say I agree with everything this cat is saying...dude thinks exactly like me and glad his girl allows him to speak the truth without attack him or cutting him off. She is a good girlfriend.

  • I love Natural Hair on Black Women, not ones who over do it with make up as well it seems fake. I love a Real Black Woman not Barbie

  • Can't believe you went to Harvard, GO GIRLL

  • black love!

  • We don’t like all that damn make up, and we care less about whats on your head!

  • Kris is beautiful!!!

  • i was in a relationship when I did my big chop my boyfriend didn't really care about me going natural since i told I was getting it cut anyway. BUT he still was shocked that i did it. My male coworkers ( some ) weren't disappointing because the texture of my hair, its just the fact that it was short they responded negative. Though I notice a lot more males respond positive about it because they found it sexy and rebelliousness like my boyfriend did.

  • How would you address the argument that a relaxer is a generational oppression? One has argued that if a young lady started getting her hair relaxed at a young age, and continues to get them on her own volition because that is all she has grown up on, then she is suffering from generational oppression. They argue that at some point and time the women in that family felt some sort of pressure to appeal to the European standard of beauty. How do you all feel about this argument?

  • very interesting.....i like the fact that you BOTH expressed your opinion.

  • This was nice....I appreciated and enjoyed it....keep up the good work.... I've been natural for more than 2 months now....My guy hasn't expressed any position at all....I guess he just loves me....

  • Hair is not an issue natural or straight, make up is the problem face paint is for clowns in my opinion ,natural beauty is always best especially Black women who already has natural color. Make up is also unhealthy!

  • I love black love thank you bro and sistah

  • I agree with someone women belittling each other for the choice to wear hair natural or permed. I dont care what someone does with their hair. I feel you do what you want. I do try to convince others to go natural just because I love my hair so much but I dont care if you are natural or permed just as long as your hair is well taken care of.

  • I noticed the same thing about bi-racial couples. I appreciate the honesty in this video and am so happy that he took the initiative to make it clear that his opinion is not representative of the entire black male population.

  • i have natural hair. i'm married to a European Caucasoid. His family or the women in his family only see our hair two ways. Naturally curly or wigs. They see us all as the same negroes. light skin or dark skin they dont even think of that. I can say this my husband says NATURAL hair is better even if its short at least its REAL and you can feel it touch it and the wigs, weaves just look fake. Here in LA funny thing is a lot of White men marry black women who wear natural hair.

  • you both are so cute. thanks for your insight. very nice...

  • i do the same thing as you with the dominican blow outs. i truly think black men overthink the concept of natural. im only thirteen and the boys at my school truly dont know. they choose the "white" girls because they assume they take better care of their hair. i truly love my natural hair. it actually inspires me to be an intellectual and to prove them wrong. i dont relax my hair im completely natural. its my opinion.

  • lol awsome name dude quan thats to fresh

  • @kendalltv2011 Also, It's so silly to compare Black People to Primates when if you look closely at them, yes Apes have Round Nostrils, but they also have White People's Paper Thin Lips and Flat Buttocks. lol

  • @kendalltv2011 What about the Frizzy Curly Perms that White Women & Men wore in the 80's-90's? You are so ignorant to group Black Women into one Generalization when Black Women are so Diverse, come in 33-different skin tones, have different hair textures and facial features, as well. I know that you are not claiming to be as good looking as Beyonce, Halle Berry, Vanessa Willliams, etc. Also, Latino Women Live to Over Populate this planet, so any man who's not ready for Kids should not date them.

  • I am a 52 year old woman who has been wearing natural hair since 1997. Where ever there are black men, I receive the utmost respect and positive attention. More so than before going natural. You've heard that behind every good man is a woman. Well the mental, and emotional change that comes with the wearing of natural hair transends, and through us, they are big. Big as they should be.

  • An intelligent African American Man. Nice

  • Dr. Joy - Post Traumatic Slavery Syndrome. WAKE UP PEOPLE!

  • Beautiful couple. You two would make some Bea-U-Ti-Ful kids!

I do think my man should wear a daishiki, lol.

  • natural hair on black women and especially chocolate complexion is the sexist of them all.

  • Who cares what anyone thinks, if you like your hair as it is IT DOESN'T MATTER! good video by the way.

  • u look like tyra bnaks a bit

  • The truth is that not all but most black men and women in the develope world have psychological issues with self-hate stemming from years of slavery and institutional racism. They've been told from an earl age that their hair was bad because it is kinky and nappy which of course this is not true. However this is no excuse for black women to willfully remain ignorant.

  • i just wanna say .. white girls hair isnt naturally str8... they put an iron to it.... ok they dye their hair. DO WHAT THE FUCK YOU WANT TO YOUR HAIR... EXTENSIONS , COLOR , CUT, SHORT , LONG WHATEVER ITS JUST FUCKING HAIR.... STUPID STRANDS OF HAIR ... GOD DAMN WE ARE SO STUPID AND SHALLOW

  • she has a perm

  • Yes it can be a complex topic if you make it but it doesn't have to be that way. Bottom line is sistas, if you grew up straightening your hair because your mother taught you and friends around you did the same, step outside the box for a moment and give it a try. You owe it to yourselves to learn about your hair, it's true texture, how it works wet, dry, etc. Also, do some research on it's origin. Most don't know about the curse in bible on why women hair is short. Do the research *ISRAEL*

  • hair style does go hand in hand with personality, that's the point, hair and clothes are like self expression but, that doesn't mean it is connected to education level.

  • i wanna get my hair back natural because i hate the fact that perms damage your hair! i want my hair to be healthy! i feel so bad every time I get a perm I feel like i'm trying to be something i'm not like trying to be what society want me to be and that not right!

  • Love this video. This is such a sensitive topic for Black People. You are absolutely right, we have to educate ourselves on this... Both black men and women.

FYI just because you see a black women with her hair straighten, doesn't mean that she has a relaxer... it could just be Pressed or flat-ironed.

  • hahahaha!! you're right about the "sista soulja" myth. people expect me to be either mother earth or somethin'.

  • of course som1 can judge you based on wether you decide to put chemicals on your hiar or not, it does say a lot about a person the same way the way 1 can draw conclusions about you based on how you dress, what you say or what you eat. One way to look at it is; "so what?" ...as for me I like my hair natural because I feel it's healthier and in a personal way it symbolizes independence.and at some point spending so much effort on altering my appearance to fit to the status quo just seemed silly

  • I like the comment that he made about women having choices when it comes 2 what styles their hair in. There is a myth that all women with natural hair is more educated than the next sister...she just didn't go 2 the store and get a relaxer. The ironic thing is that some of these ladies also believe that wearing (for example an afro) makes them smarter or more black, which is ridiculous. I agree where he states how it's a bad when we see a natural black lady talking negative about another sister.

  • I agree the most with the last comment. The style of my hair represents nothing more than " that's just the way I like my hair"

  • Like this video

  • As long as it's healthy & doesn't stink, who gives a rat's ass about straight, curly, or afro textured?

  • Not trying to be rude, but who cares what black men think about natural hair, it is your hair, no man should control you, and most men are very shallow and want straight hair all the time, and we know why, I've been natural now for 5 years and loving it, I were it curly and sometimes I flat iron it straight. At the end of the day its your hair, and what anybody else thinks is there own opinion, keep it moving!

  • thanks for vlog.. i'm natural and loving it. i am not my hair and it's really whatever a person wants for them. i went natural b/c i wanted to..i saw the Chris Rock movie and i just went for it. No more perms for me..GO TEAM!!!

  • Get video...I am natural, but it's whatever you want to do with your hair. Relax it, curl it, cut it, or just let it be, it's all cool with me!!

  • i love natural hair

  • I believe what he says is true. I dont like some of it. But i can see what he 's sayin I also agree with the fact that you can not judge one's character because of the way they may choose to wear their hair. The BIBLE is right when it says we parish because a lack of knowledge. The sad part is the knowledge is available to us. I enjoyed this video a lot thanx for your honesty. My prayer is that people(everyone) would wise up and realize we have bigger fish to fry. Stay blessed

  • GO TEAM!!! LOL

  • Nice Video!!! Natural Hair is becoming more common everyday, but either way you wear it, it doesn't make you any less of who you are when you were born! I've been natural for almost 2 years, and i've never had a problem with the fellas, so maybe guys just like what they like....that is not to say that straight/relaxed hair hasn't been made a standard, because it has, but all in all, real ppl look beyond just what's on your head.

  • I like this!! Your boyfriend is obviously smart and a very balanced person... you have good taste! Nice....

  • different strokes for different folks, some like it, some dont. either way we do no the white race, or europeans have set the standards for what beauty is, that is long straight hair. this is a fact. This is why we have so many sistas wearing weaves, and the men say they want a real woman, but deep down, they really do like the weaves.

  • Thank you for the insight! I wear my hair natural and at first I felt like I wasn't getting any "play" from the guys. However I understand what's being said here that most black men are used to seeing the relaxed hair not to mention relaxed and weaved... So to see our hair in it's natural form is not really attractive to some black men. Some men are not tripping at all they don't care either way... I feel like most black women are trained to want and wear relaxed hair " I know it was normal for

  • Perception, itself, is so fickle that at some point one has to stop caring what people say and just do what they'd like with their appearance. The thing is, it doesn't matter if you have long or short hair, relaxed or natural, people (both men and women) are going to have SOMETHING to say, they always have and they always will. I myself rock both my natural hair and weaves, and in the past I've rocked a heck of a relaxer, lol. As long as your hair is healthy that's all that matters.

  • I appreciate the piece. But, why is there so much focus on what a man thinks of our hair? I don't see tons of videos by men stating " What black women think about fades, braides, afros, or the blad look. If they want their hair a certain way they just do it. Why shouldn't we afford ourselved the same freedom.

  • @makingthebook saw the name of this vid right??

  • your hair isn't natural, its relaxed with chemicals, have fun with all those hair loss and have fun "fitting" into the community! still respect your man for keeping a sista though!

  • I like how she lets her man be a man and not cut him off while he's talking like most women I see.

  • I fail to see how one's hair says anything about their education level, socio-economic standing, political ideologies or general disposition. I am not ignorant/oblivious to how hair types are perceived-however I am ignorant as to how one can begin to validate their bias. Hair is hair-yes it may attract a person or detour them, but it should not be the only reason one is turned off from someone. There are too many people who are not pleasant to opt to leave someone who is because their choose of

  • you are very miss informed. you are so uneducated about the black women. i am a 42 year old black women who wears her hair natural and it is not for any of the re you are discussing. i wear my hair in my natural state because this is who God made me. i don't do 4 you or anyone else. i realized even before all this stuff came out about natural hair that chemicals are not good for you. get it together and stop straddling the fence with your comments.

  • ...they don't think natural woman are educated. They think "How can she have the nerve to go out like that? She must of have lost her mind." You seem pretty sensible but I think you were possibly being too nice/ slightly sensitive/ naive. Yes some may think what you said, but most immediately think that a woman who is natural must of have lost her mind to go out looking "like that". Ignorance will never disappear as many find it/ see it as a comfort zone, though they'll eventually get used to it

  • @omfgsjoc I was thinking the exact same thing. Many men arescared of a woman with natural hair they look at us like what did we do to ourselves and when are we sticking a perm in it!

  • All we see it her hair is straight her hair is long.. GO TEAM!!! hahahahaha

  • @diamonds454 her hair is not long

  • Your boyfriend is very thoughtful. As a new natural, I've encountered a lot of foolery and its nice to see someone talking thoughtfully about natural hair.

  • Great video guys- all black women are beautiful, why I never known for God to make anything ugly. I'm now rocking natural hair & I love it, but don't get me wrong if i want to rock straight hair I will. Please don't judge people on a hair style meaning natural or straight its their choice and everyone is entitle to wear their hair anyway they choose.

  • @MsHappiness2009 i feelz u =]

  • @MsHappiness2009 "Please don't judge people on a hair style meaning natural or straight its their choice and everyone is entitle to wear their hair anyway they choose." Do you say this to your boss if s(he) is firing you for this obvious change from str8 to the 9kink? Do u say this to the interviewer when you want a job but you embrace natural texture hair [as grown from the scalp] so that appearance doesn't leave u jobless? [America/African Americans is just not open to natural textured hair]

  • People just make assumptions...... good video guys

  • I'm so late, but...... Men are visual. So like he said, most men are ignorant to what women go through (natural or relaxed), to keep their hair looking presentable. Because they are visual, before a woman even opens her mouth to speak, a man has already made up his mind whether or not he is feeling a woman. It's not an excuse, it's just how they are. Men stereotype just as women do.

  • every black man wants a chick with real nice hair...thats why lightskin (mixed) girls get more attention then regular black girls...its the honest truth fellas, its life

  • @337429 And....

  • @jesse94jrho lol thats it there is nothing else. i bet your darkskin lmaaoo

  • @337429 Actually im mixed myself

  • @jesse94jrho lol ya....SURE!!!

  • @337429 damn u sound like a hater. men will like and end up loving a woman who is confident with themselves. Nothing to do with how much or little melanin is in a person's skin. When our black ppl can get past hating eachother bc of our skin color, we will come back together as a whole ethnic group and no longer continue the taught hatred of our slavemasters of 300yrs.not tryna sound like a tree hugger but Lets cut it out. There's no need for hate.

  • @gilchristb1 i like the way you approached me and your absolutely right. but my statement still stands, i'm not talking about love i'm talking about physical attraction, because at the end of the day if your with somebody solely for there looks its guaranteed to fail. but i see your point though absolutely

  • And how do you feel about black men with a Jheri curl. This does not go one way. For the record, I don't give a fuck what they think of me or my hair. They think they are so damed hot. The great equalizer is DEATH which means you dumb fucks have to DIE like black women. No whitey-women is going to keep you alive.

  • Nice

  • @DownChick22 You dont know what you talking about because im not natural yet, I do plan to be natural in the future but just not now. Plus i never said that I knock other women, im simply talking about people who have issues with natural hair!

  • Great discussion, guys! x

  • Thank you both for your view on this situation because it is crazy. (BTW you make a lovely couple) Brother you are so right, its about your preference and how you feel about yourself and being a man you like what you like. If a woman display confidence about herself she could be bald or have hair down to her bottom, it doesn't matter because she is doing what she like. Ive been natural for a year and I love it. Thank yall again.

  • I love Kwan's honesty and I can tell that he was being very sensitive to the viewers. My husband and daughter have been my greatest supporters for me going natural almost eleven months now. I did it primarily for health reasons and would not change a thing. I believe that it is an individual as well as personal decision to go back to our roots or not. However, if we cannot truly embrace what God gave us, how can we say that we are "real". I love wigs, weaves, but LOVE my NATURAL HAIR MORE!

  • @Inlove123, water is one of the best moisturizers for any type of hair and as long as you keep your hair moisturized, you can wash it everyday if you like. What you need to be careful with is the type of shampoo you use. Any product with alcohol, sulfate or cones can be damaging to especially African American hair. Everyone is different. I am not mixed race but African American and I can wash my hair everyday without any breakage. I usually wash every two to three days now. Knowledge is power!

  • @CarvinCole, you must not know a lot of couples. I have been married to my husband for 14 years and also have many friends and family members (my parents have been together 53 years) that are outstanding citizens. You seem to sterotype quite a bit and as a African American woman who has been natural for almost 11 months, I am a Christian, educated and love people period. Every natural woman does not have a militant attitude, perhaps you mistake CONFIDENCE 4 militant because we know who we are.

  • I like this video :) - it's honest

  • Interesting vid. As an European I love the Afro-American look both on women and men. I'm sorry we don't see it much (actually only on film and then from the 70s) ... it seems to me that the cosmetic industry is milking us out to buy their products and forget what our natural beauty is like ...

  • What confuses me is why do black women have so many problems with their hair? I live in Washington DC and I would guess that perhaps close to half of the black women wear weaves on a regular basis. What's wrong with a short crop cut that has texture or press and curl like Mrs. Obama? Nice locks in a ponytail? Ringlets?

  • Great video! Its soo cool to hear a black man's perspective on something soo sensitive like natural hair!

    ♥♥♥♥♥ Viva

  • If you wear your hair straight you're "Trying to fit the image of a white girl, or trying to live up to societal standards"

If you wear your hair natural you're "Nappy looking"

I don't get the hate. A choice is a choice. What ever you choose should be okay for you. Why do people care so much about looks, granted we all do, but dang is the exterior ALL we see now?

  • This is crazy, natural women are being judged for wearing their hair the way it grows out of there head, no wonder why black women go fake or relaxed. It sucks to be a black women because it just seems like the world really hates us!

  • The psychology of why hair is changed should be visited. As a blk man I love natural hair & despise fake.

Ladies please stop fooling yourselves;it doesn't look real(it looks like a hair-hat). I want to be able to touch ever inch of my lady; that can't be done if a brotha wanted to run his fingers on the scalp of hair that's sewed in & used to belong to another. The world is dirty & we should wash our heads everyday (that's not done w/ a weave)nothing collects the worlds filth like hair

    1love

    X

  • @farronx I'm won't that you're wrong for disliking fake hair or not. Occasionally, I may wear a long wig because my hair is mid-length & curly & I love to change up & wear different hairstyles. But anyway, what I want you to keep in mind however is that it's actually really unhealthy for black women to wash their hair everyday. I have more "mixed-raced" curly hair & can wash every couple of days, but African hair tends to be very dry & will become brittle & break off when washed everyday

  • @InLove2134

Please understand that my comment only spoke to a personal preference & why.

In no way am I saying what a women should or shouldn't do w/ her hair.

Though I am curious as to 'why this rampant wave of the weave?'

I know that all women wear them now & through out history but why is it more prevalent than not in this day & age?

I'll give U the washing daily thing but I have to believe in that billion $ market of hair care products there's something to allow reg. washings.

    1love

    X

  • how come you have straightened hair?

  • I've gone from twists, braids, perm, cut it all off, back to natural, braids, weave, extensions, perm, cut it all off, back to natural, pressing, perm, cut it all off back to natural, twists & then my last perm, semi-perm colours (its the longest I've had a perm 3 yrs). I have no fear, explanations, associations for, or attached to my hair. Its hair!!! Have fun, let go! stop being so anal & dramatic about the stuff!! Enjoy it whatever you do with it! That's the best part!!

  • @hx314tube whatever people think, who give a shit!! I hate being at the hair salon, but I love a new hair cut/style! I want to try everything, I can't but I want to. so I am not going to let the ignorance of a few/many/all stop the awesome fun I have with my hair! who knows what I'll do next with the stuff!! But I bet It'll be awesome!!!

  • @hx314tube, AMEN, AMEN, AMEN!! My husband and I JUST had this convo and I had to set his behind straight! He assumes that women who always wear weave has issues with self hate!! WHAT?? This whole topic is sooo ignorant to me and it's another way to in my opinion belittle black women for choosing to wear weaves. And I'm soooo tired of these upity women who like to FLAUNT the fact that they DON"T wear weave! So what, you do you and I'm doing to do me!! Neway, check me out as I try to lose 300lbs!!

  • I def agree with what he said. I have locs and I've encountered guys who've said that when they first met me, they assumed I was a certain way (listen to a certain music etc.) because of my hair. I've had ppl say they thought I was stuck up, strong minded and bossy because of my hair lol. Women need to stop coming at other sisters because of their choice of hair style and men need to stop making assumptions about women with natural hair. Its all really just stupid.

  • Being that I am natural now i feel like i get more "hate" from sisters than black men. Most men i encounter say they like my natural hair. Also they do think more educated sisters go natural. I have nothing against relaxed hair but it just wasn't for me. Everyone respected my decisions abt my hair; I just thin it comes from not being the norm. who said all natural hair are healthy. i know ppl who have hair down their back and they hair relaxers. we just need to end the self hate across the board

  • this is soo deeepp...i needed this

  • oooooooooooooooo HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAIR...... REEEEEAL HHHHHHHHHHAIR.....

I live in LA. No one here has real hair. Its a cryin shame. IM soo sicka grabbin knots and trax and glue and and and STUFF!

Where are the High Yella Big Fohead Curly Good Haired Sistas at??

I think they stay in the house.

  • @Y85colette

omg ! i was going to mention this....thanks

we're the only race that go against each other ! no sense at all. many black me need to watch the movie "Somthing New" ...they'll wake up after that..white,asian, arabian men love me !! lol

  • Intelligent Brother .....& Sister

  • OK so i dont have a relaxer but i straighten my hair n ppl always think i do. just because a girls hair is straight doesnt mean she has a relaxer...& mixed girls get relaxers too. white girls get perms for fuller hair, etc Every race has some type of insecurity..

  • FUCK PERMS/RELAXERS that is one of the WORSE inventions for black people. when I have daughters I will buy CHI flat irons and INSTYLERS FUCK perms if my daughters want their hair straight press it and if they want it natural do a wash and go.

  • Hair should be not a political statement! It's just hair, geeze. I love my fro, but it's still just hair

  • well i have been growing out my perm for the last 9 months and Its been kinda hard but Im commited to the cause because I know either way im still beautiful with or without the relaxer... and Ive heard my best friends claiming how they want to have kids with a white man just so they're kids can have good hair, and this makes me mad because not all black people in America have bad hair. I know I dont and what is bad hair, what, just because its not staright means its not good, c'mon yall rise up

  • with a name like "kwan"(male in vid ?) you would think he'd have a "natural" sister on his arm and love his roots. so tired of these low self esteem black men. i also question your strenght and character Kris (female in vid ?). can never have anything like him claiming me. met all other race of men who have more black love for us than he does. teling us what other black men feel about natural hair, what're your thoughs on it ?

  • @bkspyce1 a person is not defined by their name...

  • @mszlanlan

that's nice, now tell me something i don't know.

  • @bkspyce1 i dont think you know how ignorant you sounded. but that often happens on youtube.

  • @mszlanlan

i would take the time out to tell you some S#$% ,but you're not worth it babes ! now go back to the cheese doodles and make comments to kris and her 1/2 of man...move on boo!

  • I thank you for two for your video.. I will be posting it on my blog!!!

  • = sexiness

    = self-confidence

    = individuality

    = intellect

    = culture

    = non-conformity

    = beauty

  • But my hair is naturally straight though but I think the curly hair afro-american women have is very beautiful!! it's 100 % natural, it can't get better than that:d

  • tanx 2u both

when did "natural hair " (for black women) become defined as having a weave????

and if natural hair puts demands on the black man to be responsible for his people, that shud b welcomed. it's an opportunity to have a mate who will have your BACK while fighting the oppression that comes with building your community and your personal economic base.

i am so grateful that my husband is a true black man. he is remarkable and extraordinary and fine and SMART! he accepts my naturalness.

  • You are very beautiful with a wonderful smile.

  • Black people are so beautiful!

  • I recently went natural and it amazes me the connection be have with hair. My hair shouldn't be a representation of who I am as a person. I choose to have a relaxer for a long time because thats what I was used to. Now I'm choosing to have natural hair because I want healthy hair. I want to be comfortable with the way God made me.

  • @AshleyLatrice20 your words r true for me also

  • She's right, it's interesting that natural hair is considered "edgy". When I was young & saw pictures of Beyoncé with wavy hair or Aaliyah with straight hair I thought it was their real hair lol When I found out most black women have to perm their hair or wear weaves to have straight hair I was really surprised ^^ Anyway I can't speak for other people but I think natural hair looks beautiful and I love all those original hairstyles (such as braids, twists etc.) :)

  • like my professor said one day "what is straight hair? are you telling me your hair is crooked?!" so deep think about it!

    LOL

ohh boi people! it's just hair, it's all good! pshhh smh

  • I agree, having straight hair is the norm. I grew up altering my hair since elementary school whether it was by pressing, perming, and flat ironing it. I never really knew why I did it other than the fact that it made my hair more manageable and straight and it allowed me to "fit in." In elementary school kids are harsh especially if they notice you as being different. Now that I'm older (19) I am happy with my NATURAL hair. I had long relaxed hair to my back, but I just didn't enjoy relaxers.

  • Very good channel.

  • Communication is the key

    Listening is the key

    Bickering is not the key

  • I love this video. Honest feedback from a man. He's a keeper :-)!

  • I really enjoyed this video, and intend to share it. As a relaxed female, I had the similar steroetypes about "women w/ natural hair" with in me. After 11 months of transitioning, my friend cut off my relaxed hair yesterday, and I was SO nervous about picking my kids up from our suburban school yesterday, about what the parents/teachers would think--SERIOUSLY?!? It's time to grow up, embrace our race, and love each other and ourSELVES no matter how we look! Thx for the vid!

  • We (black folks) need to stop seeking acceptance from EVERYONE. No one is beautiful to everyone, there it is. You have to understand that you are created by the God that created the universe. If I am in His image, then why am I so desperately seeking approval?

  • Hair seems to be a big deal with Negroes, why?

  • @bnjones28 its something that distinctively separates us from every race. * my beliefs anyway.

  • SOME OF YOU ON HERE THAT SAY YOU "HATE" NATURAL HAIR TOTALLY DISGUST ME!! WHY DO YOU HATE NATURAL HAIR?? NOT ALL NATURAL OR SHOULD i SAY "NAPPY HAIR" STINKS!!! HAVE YOU SEEN ANY OF THE VIDEOS THAT IS POSTED ON HERE ABOUT THE BEAUTY OF NATURAL HAIR.. AND JUST SO YOU KNOW ALL TYPES OF HAIR STINKS WHEN ITS UNKEPT. I HAVE LOCS AND I ANAL ABOUT THE UPKEPT OF MY HAIR. AND SINCE I WENT NATURAL, MY HAIR IS EXTRMELY HEALTHY AND I GET MAD COMPLIMENTS. GET EDUCATED ON THE MATTER BEFORE YOU OUTKAST IT..

  • Love, love, love to hear a MATURE black man speak from his heart, thank you for beginning this by stating that your opinion is your own and not that of others. Thanks for sharing this, although this vid is almost 2 years old, it is SO RELEVANT today! Amazingly many ppl are still having issues with this very subject TODAY (2011).

  • People get over it, hair is just an accessory, we make too big a deal about it. Wear it however you feel. Natural, Relaxed, Coloured, 10 Colours, it really does not matter, it is just hair and it will grow out and you can change it. I have had my hair relaxed, natural, texturized now, and I just coloured it gold and red, and planning to go natural again. My husband doesn't like the colours, but as he says "it WILL grow out"....It is not that serious

  • @MRbossman1982 what does natural hair ``Smell`` like because I swear people with natural hair wash their hair more often because it requires more moisture. Many black women don`t have ``Jet Black hair```unless its bought, there hair is generally variations of brown and dark brown.... sounds like you want a nice Indian Woman. *

  • @MRbossman1982 I must say for one I am a Black woman who isn't superficial- my bf is 5'7 notmuch taller then me & I accept him for who he is. There R things people cant control such as height& skin color and facial features and I dont like wen people are constantly knocked for things like that- hence why bleaching creams are on the rise. But weight is something that can be controlled so that is something completely different. Ignorant ppl make ignorant comments- dont use them as ur foundation.

  • @MRbossman1982 PS believe me when I say being a black woman is harder then being a black man. Not only are we often striving for perfection but we are also in competition with every other race for our own men. Im not against interracial dating but I am against people expecting Black women to look like what God did not intend. Hating a black woman's characteristics is hating the same thing within yourself. Love you! And no body is ugly- just not a preference to an individual! Peace and Love :)

  • @MRbossman1982 I know you could not possibly believe what it is that you just said. In fact I must say being a WOMAN you are at the bottom of societies totem pole but to be a black woman puts you at the VERY bottom which is why I said it is harder for black women. PEOPLE do dumb shit you cannot categorize a racial group of women and stereotype them. That is a racist and sexist comment in wrapped in one sentence. You my friend have a lot of self hate and I hope you do find peace within yourself.

  • @MRbossman1982 Its not about "wanting to be anywhere" but as they say ignorance is Bliss. And Emotional black mail-please? I get nothing out of black mailing you. I wouldn't expect u to feel sorry for black women because its evident you don't like nor appreciate them. In any event I'm finished going back and forth- I wouldn't expect someone such as yourself to understand the complexities of Race& Social Status in North American society. It was nice having this babble, but your time is up! :)

  • @MRbossman1982 Stop generalizing all African American women. Only ignorant people generalize. Do you know all "black women" to speak of them as a whole?

  • @MRbossman1982 Are you being ignorant, or are you being stupid? YES I AM TELLING YOU TO STOP GENERALIZING ALL AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMAN. Where did you see that it was aims to hate natural hair? This is a perspective of one male on the situation. I mean I could have sworn he said in the beginning that he thinks a woman wearing their natural hair is a "beautiful thing. Stop trying to make something more than what it is. This is his perspective.

  • @MRbossman1982

If you have a problem with the state of black women - move on and watch you tube videos about white women - pretty simple, right?

  • @bell7072 why not go date some kkk white boys , maybe they will welcome black women and your natural hair, since white men are sooo much more into it lol. Jesus you black women BLOW me.

  • @MRbossman1982 You sound pretty ignorant. The whole kkk comment is a contradiction in its self. Show some sense.

  • @MRbossman1982 this is too funny. I stopped perming my hair a few months ago and i still think this is funny. The line that got me "Fuck that nappy is ugly" lol i literally cracked up when i read that

  • @musiq50ul Honestly i didnt even mean the shit i said , i was just trying to make a point that black women want all black men to accept them 100%, yet black women are picky daters when it comes to Black men, we have to be tall, dark, s pack, brown smooth skin, baby soft hair all this good stuff. but black men have t o just shut up suck it up and date, fat, short, nappy head, anytype of black womenlol

  • @MRbossman1982 Is there something wrong with being nappy headed? You typed that like it was. Theres a lot of nappy headed guys, but since their guys its acceptable? Hmmm, double standard much? And what's wrong with someone being "fat"? I am not thick at all, but I do believe dating someone solely on their appearance is superficial. Who cares if someone is "nappy headed, short," or "fat."

  • @MRbossman1982

not sure your vision is well but , black men date short, fat ,straigth hair white women al the time...lol sad !! you want to come on here with that bs ?? really ?? stop the madness black man...complaining about us wanting to have healthier hair.do you kn0w we can flat iron our hair straight ? no perms, nice long healthy hair. black man always want to put us down. when do you learn we black women don't fall!! weak enjoy the weak ! love youself first then you''ll be loved.

  • @bkspyce1 WHat you trying to say all WHITE WOMEN ARE FAT? i was at a football game and i saw a 400 pound white man with a black woman. i see large , heavy set white men with Black women all the time. SAD lol LMAO. i can do it too.

  • @MRbossman1982

really ? i'll sound pretty dumb saying "all" white women are fat ! i'm saying...fat, non educated and jobless/no goals white women date black men. you get what the white man don't want !! don't know much white female drs, attorneys or beautiful WW settling for a black man...weak remain with the weak.that's all im saying....i know many black women who are married to white men( half my family) 0 fat!! lol if they were ,who would care ? 400lb white man would love her knappy hair .

  • @bkspyce1 if that makes you sleep better at night thinking all white women black men marry are fat go for it lol.

  • @MRbossman1982

you're suppose to read the entire paragraph man ...damn! lol smh..i give up ! not something i do,but ....

  • Hmmmm. A lot of good points!!!!

  • I do notice there seems to be a fair number of very angry and bitter women with these afro-centric hairstyles. I understand this is not everyone, but its been my personal experience. "Natural" hair seems to equate to hardness, anger and bitterness. Consequently, I find it unattractive.

On another note, props to Kwan for choosing an articulate, class filled and obviously beautiful young lady. You're both a class act. Unfortunately, I rarely see this among our people. You make a very nice couple.

  • I like a long hair thick red bone.

  • You don't see women with relaxed hair always wasting their breath bashing natural texture haired women. Why can't all of the "Big Chop" females stop obsessing about other women having silky straight hair? It's hair not politics. Personally, in my opinion, if kinky hair is not really long it sometimes looks butch & masculine, not to mention it hardens the features of some black women's faces. I'm just saying.

  • Yes. White women do perm their hair. My wife is Asian and she either perms her hair or uses a straightening iron every morning. Only blk women are made to feel shame about perming their hair. Kinky Blk hair is an extreme feature that blk women want to downplay. Asians spend tons on cosmetic surgery to change their eyes. Whites spend alot on tans and collagen for their lips. All women are striving for that international standard of beauty.
