  • if you mix your meat to much it can get tough=true, however it is not because you have ruined the meat, by mashing it all together you are condensing the mince so and easy way to fix it is to just grab a fork and poke a bunch of holes in it.

  • 1 pound of ground beef (straight beef, no half pork half beef) 1 minced onion 1 soaked (in warm water) and wrung out bun marjoram parsley chili flakes black pepper coarse sea salt paprika powder maggi herb (or soy sauce) yellow mustard(!) in the pan with little to almost no sunflower oil. trust me! it's awesome!

  • @WashableTowel The whole point of "Broiling" is to add flavor through browning. If there is a way to add even more flavor to a dish, I don't see why one would pass it up.

  • Hey, I'm loving the cooking videos, Jeff!

    Just a heads-up, when cooking with minced beef, you don't actually need an egg as a binding agent. If you knead it enough, then it should bind naturally. Don't worry about the meat becoming too tough, as simmering it in the sauce will solve that.

    Anyway, that's my two-cents. :3

  • @big45don White eggs come from white chickens and brown eggs from brown chickens. Obviously Americans prefer white eggs. There is no difference in taste or nutritional value.

  • raw beef can be dangerous you are aware a stray child may be tempted to handle raw meat by watching your video! You surely feel morally obligated to no longer make videos that may expose people to health risk! Why are you treading the path of the nanny state man.   • As a butchers son I'm gonna tell you, no way you're gonna make your "meat tough" by mixing it too much, it's not dough. Also you get more issues from the raw eggs than from the raw meat. Raw beef is pretty safe. Mix like a madman and enjoy!

  • Hey jeff, if you really want to take the next step to eating healthy. You should try not to eat food with msg in it. If you look into it, almost everything we eat has msg and its insanely bad for you. I recently and trying to cut back on it. But its proving to be difficult.

  • @chrisadmaley would you mind giving some links that prove msg is unhealthy? as far as i've read, it's basically oil/salt, it's classified as safe to eat and a flavor enhancer, and the worst it's been classified as is a food additive. i'd like to see evidence that says otherwise, because all the studies i'm reading say it's perfectly fine.

    No mainstream source will tell you the truth. Also look into BPA. This is nasty stuff that shouldn't be consumed whatsoever. Stay away from all artificial ingredients the best you can, and don't use tap water either if you can help it. At least try to get a filter. Fluoride is another important thing to look into. Allot of these things are neurotoxins and estrogen mimicking feminizers. Stay away.

  • @kingmigget Hey thanks for the note. I am very new to trying to eat real food. By that i mean having as little additives as possible. There shouldn't be a need to add additives to food just to enhance flavor. Here is a site i found msgtruth.org from a lady that sounds like (from the histroy she lists) has done alot of research on the subject. I found it very interesting that researchers inject rats with msg to make them obese. The msg makes your body produce more insulin at a faster

  • @chrisadmaley rate, Like i said i dont know everything i am fairly new. I have read enough though to know/feel it cant be good for our bodies to keep eating all these chemicals. Its NOT just like salt at all.

    The problem is even if there was definitive proof (which there isn't yet, not enough research don) most people wouldn't stop anyways. Its hard right now to find food not loaded with additives. I just want FOOD, not fillers,flavor enhancers, or any chemicals. Just food.

  • @kingmigget I have also realised that even if the general public knew it was bad for them they wouldn't stop eating it. Its in everything almost. Its in almost all main stream delit meats, boxed meals, frozen meals, pizza. I know its going to be alot harder, i will have to cook for myself more, make from scratch etc. But i have decided that just because its a pain in the ass isn't an excuse to eat it.

Can i ask if you actually know how msg works? its not like salt. msg works by making your brain believe the food you are eating is good. Its doesn't just "salt" the food. It actually triggers neurons (its a neurotoxin) in your brain and makes you BLEIVE the food is good. Even without scientific proof, just knowing how it works should cause concern

  • @kingmigget but you are correct in assuming there is not a study that just comes to the conculsion that msg is bad. Its when you put a lot of information together. Also keep in mind the people that sell msg have worked very hard to promote that its NOT bad. Just like cig companies did in the early days. Also, companies purposely want to hide the fact that msg is in their food. Thats why there is 20 different names (that i know) for msg. they DONT want you to know its in there.

  • i tend to use pure ground beef for meatballs ... indeed taste comes form the fat , BUT seriously if you do it your way with ingredients you want and let them cook in the sauce itself they'll just be amazing , and i actually like'm better than ground pork or mixed ground meat , really try it !

    And another tip , when finished with forming your meatballs , roll them in a bit of cornstarch or flour , and then throw them directly in your sauce and cook'm , trust me ! amazing!

  • Jeff, my family recently switched from ground beef to ground chicken and with the same seasonings, you honestly cannot taste the difference and it's a whole lot much better for you.

  • Here in brazil, lots of people made meatballs mixing ground meat with instant soup mix, onion flavor, instead crumbs bread...is more easy becouse the soup mix have all spices and flavors but is less healty!

  • Oh Jeff. Been subscribed since I was 14 and turning 18 in April. I just look up to you as an uncle. A really Fucking cool uncle .I got a job when I was 16 and been buying the occasional knife or Zippo. I love in the great state of Arizona so this stuff is kinda allowed. I have been buying and smoking cigarettes since I was 16. Just yesterday I went and bought a pipe and some tobacco and let me just say. I feel like I'm doing my body better.
