  • Awsome model but what is the diference between a low and a high poly model?

  • @Gartot22

Low poly means low amount of polygons (triangles in 3d space), i.e. a geometrically simpler shape.

High poly means the opposite, lots of polygons, a much more complex shape.

Low poly normally means something used for real-time use, i.e games.

High poly normally means something used for rendering/sculpting, etc.

  • thanks for sharing.

  • Yay, you use Blender! Do you mind if I use this?

  • @12345franny Sure, go ahead. That is why I uploaded the files for it.

  • @platypusgreen Thank you! I've downloaded, and by the way, it's a nice model, how did you make it? This may be asking for too much but... Can you give a tutorial or some quick tips on character modeling? I can't find a lot of 'em in Youtube, and the ones I do find are not so easy to follow. Yes, I am such a noob, I am a noob that knows the basics, (curve modeling, extrude, simple stuff) and not much more.. Please and thanks in advance, if ever you say yes.

  • @12345franny Blendercookie (can't post link here) is quite a good place to find modelling tutorials for Blender. They have just started a new series on modelling the female body.

For low poly modelling I like to work with the box modelling methods.

For higher poly work I like to work on the edge loop method where you create poly loops around key areas then join these together.

Also don't forget to look at tutorials for other programs as the theory can often be applied to Blender.

  • @platypusgreen Thanks a lot! How did you get so good at these sorts of things, anyway? :)

  • @12345franny Probably the same as any other thing. By doing lots of it. Also by reading a fair few makings of on websites and tutorials.

I suppose the tutorial that helped me the most when I was learning to model was the well known 'Joan de arc tutorial' It's easy top find with a google search. Even though it was for 3dsmax, most of the methods can be used in Blender.

  • @platypusgreen Thank you.

  • Why did you upload blener files? o_O You wrote that you made it in 3ds max....

    Btw. Promising model anyway ^^

  • @MaksstPL Why not. I have converted over to using Blender myself and wanted to share the model in a format that other Blender users could easily use.

  • THIS ISS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO AWESOME! BETTER THEN ANYTHING IVE MADE

  • And it's cell-shaded. Awesome. o.o

  • sweet

  • ok i got winrar but... it wont let me open it it has no pmd

could u make a pmd in the file...

  • @GwenPelittleLovesYou I don't know what a pmd file is. I only made this in 3dsmax as a test a while ago; and have no intention of working any more on this model.

  • Comment removed

  • yeah PLEEEAAASSSEEEEEEEEE pmd or zip file please? ;-;

plz mine wont take rars either

  • @GwenPelittleLovesYou

    Uploaded a .zip file now.

  • is there anyway u can make a pmd version of this model my MMD dosent work with rar files D:

  • The .rar file is an archive containing a few files. a .blend, an .obj and the texture map for the eye I think. I haven't looked at it for a while.

I have no intention on working anymore on this. I originally posted this video more than a year ago, and haven't touched the model since then.

I'm sorry but if you are wanting this model in any specific format you will have to convert it yourself.

  • Ammm. The download page does not work..."Problem loading page"

  • yeah, i've lost the webspace it was uploaded to. And currently don't have a place to upload it again to.

  • Why not try uploading it to a file hosting service such as MegaUpload or SendSpace, or MediaFire?

  • I did have it uploaded to Rapidshare, but since I have no account with them it had a limit on the amount of downloads and that was reached.

  • Why not use MediaFire? It's got no limit on the # of downloads per user. Trust me, I upload files all the time lol.

  • Looks very good!

  • can u tell me where you learned to make this model

  • Not from any one source.

It was poly modelled using basic box modeling methods; starting from boxes, cutting, extruding and moving vertices around.

Tutorials on starting to learn box modelling can be found all over the internet.

  • problem soveld simply thanks for your help though

  • could u make same animtiosn for thisplz

  • I am working on other things and have archived this model. I don't intend to work on this anymore.

I uploaded the Blender file so that anyone who wants to animate this can do so.

  • but can i open this up as blender or anim8or?

  • I included the startings of a rig in Blender. So you can open it up in Blender.

  • could u make it for mikmiku dance PLZ

  • I do not know how to do so. I've heard of Miku Miku Dance, but not looked into it yet.

If I have some time later on I may look into doing so.

  • what is it for miku miku dance?

  • Nah, just for a quick practice.

  • check my channel alot of my videos are miku miku dance and marchepan might be able to help to

  • what is the program you used for this??

  • As said in the first line of the description 3d studio max 9.

  • nice celshading^^ i like this render technique too good job

  • how do you model the cloths

  • The same way I model the rest of the model.

Starting with a box and cutting it and moving the points around to form the forms I want.

The torso is solid, but the skirt is just a single polygon layer surface. it has no depth; same as the armband.

The socks and shoes are the same mesh as the legs, just with different material colours to define the objects.

Since this was a low poly model there is no body beneath the clothing.

  • would i get the same results with ink n paint?

  • You should be able to get near identical results wiht ink&paint

  • Hi, I´m making a new vocaloid short, and I need a 3d haruhi. You can share the model?

  • can you share the model

  • Wow, that's pretty cool cel shading. I thought you had used illustrate or final toon, but to see you used simple blend and falloffs is pretty impressive. Good model, too.

  • Nice, do you sell this?

  • I was not going to as it was only a practice model. But if you want the model I can zip it and upload it somewhere for free download.

Might include a rigged version too shortley.

  • nice. if you don't mind.

could you email it to me?

    i'll pm you my email.

  • aww..is it ok if i ask too? i need haruhi for a certain project we are making. pretty please? i'll pm you my e-mail too =)

  • thanks a lot.

you are the most kind people from the whole earth.
