I still haven't seen a direct comparison of noise of an electric vehicle at various speeds vs a typical internal combustion engine. I'd lay odds that you can only tell the difference A) under hard acceleration and B) at very low and not-dangerous speeds.
What about music playing from the car? That's less annoying; but then again I wouldn't want to hear disgusting nicki minaj or rap playing when I'm crossing the street. Then again, the whining/whirring sound that hybrids and electric cars make- is loud enough.
I understand the reason for adding the artificial sound. I just wish it was not necessary, because the purpose of these vehicles is to reduce pollution, including noise pollution.
