I think this was take 1 and the second one is better. Just my opinion. As to Keith Richards playing bass, although I always liked the way Bill Wyman played, Richards was pretty good. One of his best studio bass tracks was on "Live With Me" from the album Let It Bleed.
According to Wikipedia, Keith Richards played bass on three tracks: Casino Boogie, Happy and Soul Survivor....everything else had Bill Wyman on bass. I'm in a minority on this album, "Exile" has never done it for me, but "Sticky Fingers" from the year before was one of their best with songs like "Brown Sugar" Sister Morphine", "Can't You Hear Me Knocking" and of course, "Bitch" --
"Yeah, when you call my name, I salivate like a Pavlov Dog"

This has to be THE COOLEST SONG?/BAND? EVER! John Lennon/Eric Clapton/Keith Richards(On Bass)and Mitch Mitchell from Hendrix on drums, Rock 'n Roll Heaven? Yes,nothing can touch this!
this video was awsome eric on lead , yoko starts wailing also kieth richards on bass and as drummer mitch michell from hendrix experiance and some guy on fiddle
Keith sounds great on bass. In fact, in the original track of Simpathy for the Devil he plays the bass. There is a movie named like this song that taped recording sessions. He directed the group.

Too bad yoko's writhing about in a bag at his feet. We can't see what shoes he's wearing... Bloody cow.
