Lately, watching Beyonce on her new videos she is really morphing into something so she might steal this one. She has stated she has watched Diana constantly which I think is going to transform her and the girl is just beautiful to watch.

Well I was one that saw the production when it hit broadway and I disagree. On broadway the song "you are gonna love me" and Jennifer's over dramatic playing of the role helped to make the role big. Sheryl Lee Ralph somewhat underplayed her character. So it will be interesting how this plays out in film. Just like in "All that Jazz" I truly believe Queen Latifah stole the movie. It's about who dives into the character and brings them alive.

First and foremost it’s not all about Beyonce. This piece of historic theatre has been around long before she knew what a microphone was. I am an avid Beyonce fan I represent Houston! But it’s about the show. And if you want to be technical, it's kinda about Jennifer Hudson. Her Character is pivotal and her songs stop the show HANDS DOWN! I mean that’s if the writers are sticking to the real thing and I am sure they are. So put that in your pipe and smoke it!

bwilson1914, I agree that the Effie character was pivotal in the STAGE MUSICAL. And any production of Dreamgirls will sink or swim on the strength of its Effie. But with Beyonce being the more established star here, the producers may play her character up more just to sell tickets. We haven't seen the full movie yet so we can only guess which approach they chose to take. Me? I'm hoping they stay true to the theme of the original Broadway production.
