Sad, many of the great venues have gone by the wayside to "higher and better" uses.... hopefully there are some new dives opening to unknown bands- who will continue the tradition of changing music....
I remember this place very well. A friend of mine's father painted the murals on the walls. It was classless and ageless. Everybody went to the lunch. I remember dancing all night to BETO ET LAS FAIRLAINES and then went skinny dipping with the band at 3 in the morning at Barton Springs. It's sad, nobody will see the like of it again.
by far the place in Austin I miss the most. So many good shows. R-Elf, Uglies, Rage, Helmet, Mudhoney...just can't duplicate what the Lunch was to Austin.
Wow, I wish I could time-warp back to see some good shows there again. I went by when they demo-ed the place and took a couple of bricks of the mural.
