Skenzed - Thanks for the ABC history lession - but Ska isn't exactly a mystery. But for those who found it helpful - try checking out the 'first wave', the Prince, Ethiopians, Pioneers, Maytells, Skatalites, Jimmy Cliff when he was young - even Marley when he was in the Wailing Wailers. If you like the Beat, you should like some of the best origional SKA.

@ulysses1981 - It was an off shot of the mod movement that mirged Skinhead and Reggae.

SKA originated in Jamaica in the 50's. 1st Wave and Prince Buster. IT was the precursor to rocksteady and reggae. The Mods picked it up in the early 60's. The 2nd Wave began in the 70's. The Specials, The Beat, Madness etc. 2nd Wave Ska was multiracial hence 2Tone records. But the racist Skinheads spoiled it all with their rioting and club fights. A later 3rd Wave happened in the 90's with mostly american bands jumping in. England had moved on by then and was trancing it's way to oblivion.
