Don't know if anyone else can see this, but among the pantheon of free jazz in the suggested videos is Adam Lambert covering a song by Lady Gaga (fourth or fifth from the bottom).
free form music definitely isn't for everybody so your not alone! It takes awhile to get what the music is all about. Especially for western culture where harmonies/chords are so entrenched within our music. The best way to listen to music like this is to think about the different sounds as harmonies within themselves and the sounds/dynamics/tensions that interplay with eachother.

Just because it's avant-garde doesn't mean it's good. After hearing so many good things about this work I must say I'm pretty disappointed.
