  • Great video keep up the good work.

  • this takes 5 seconds in sony vegas

  • shit sorry i accidentally disliked this

  • how this shit gets 37k views ?

  • High contrast is needed here.

  • Sin City..More like Spirit.

  • 2 HOURS?? HAHAHA. 2 seconds in sony vegas

  • BUT sony vegas is not industry standard software.

They would never use sony vegas in moive editng.

  • ... Don't you think it would be EASIER with industry standard software?

  • Omg, thats so easy, if you just chroma key the tie and make everything else black/white its already done, you dont need 2 hours to do that...

  • lol this is a video about sin city effect. so why are all u ppl worshiping about mac and pc and ram lol..

    nice ffct

  • Don't worry my friend...I have a naïve media teacher as well...we all have to do the course ourselves because she is useless!

  • shadows need to be darker alot darker

  • Stick it to the man!(teacher)nice effect!

  • lol color pass

  • wicked effect

  • I dont think editing software is the easiest way of doing this. Try some compositiing software like, Fusion, Shake, Combustion, Nuke. they give you greater flexibility

  • you mean, The Spirit effect, right?

  • lmao y did he look at the wall

  • whahahhahahahaha

  • LOL

  • Can u explain who to do this???

  • this effect can be done in very quickly in after effects it's not hard at all.

  • in sony vegas pro 8 you can do this in under 30 seconds.

  • selective color is not thaat hard man

  • Awesome!

    You look like The Spirit

  • you can do this in 15 sec.

see the tutorial at creative cow.net podcast

  • 2 hours?? in final cut pro you can achieve this effect in a matter of 2 minutes

  • Yep. I did it the hard way i soon found. Didnt know about colour pass.

  • @elementsk8er506 In my ass you can achieve it in 1 second MOFO ! : )

  • Did you use the Final Cut Pro Color app for this? I've been experimenting with that to achieve this effect, but yours looks smoother than what can be achieved with Color.

  • What did you do?

  • i have it.

the problem to be solved still wasnt it, but using cheap solution

  • Just run Adobe After Effects, import this footage, apply "Leave Color" effect, choose your color and export. (This all under 3 minutes) :-)

  • omg the whole point was to NOT use expensive programs.. if i understood it well.

  • if you only need the effect for one use you can download the demo off the website. but its a good program that is well worth investing in

  • you really think you know it all ! this is very easy even with a simple adobe premire this is a basic effect . first know things before you call someone retarded

  • but unfortunately you can't achieve it with anything cheaper such as sony studio vegas :(

  • You can do this in Final Cut Express, which is only $80 more than Sony Vegas.

  • Yes perhaps but you need a mac to use it which also costs a lot of money :(

  • There's no need to do this if you can't afford a Mac. You're most likely not a professional then.

  • Dude... Macs Suck. I can do EVERYTHING you do on a MAC on my PC. And without paying $100 for software either.

  • Actually, you can't do 100% of what we can because you can't run Mac apps (where was we can run Windows and Mac apps). Also, a common misconception is that every software for the Mac costs money, and this isn't true. Most software is free and isn't crapware like it is for Windows.

Good luck trying to replicate this with free, not-pirated software. It won't happen.

  • Relax. It comes down to personal preference. You can do just as much in FCP as you can in Premiere. My personal preference is the PC, and Macintech's is obviously the opposite. Stop arguing.

  • how?

  • You have to agree that Mac is the greatest editing computer out there. Pros prefer mac when they edit movies and sound. But if you can't afford a mac, you buy a PC.

  • If you can't afford a Mac, you probably shouldn't be doing any kind of editing professionally.

  • can you get a 3.6ghz processor for a mac for a hundred and fifty pounds. Can you overclock macs. Can you fix a mac yourself. Can you upgrade a mac instead of buying a new one. Can you go to a LAN and not get T-Bagged with a mac? :P

  • 1) No, but can your OS effectively use 32 GB of RAM without giving you driver hell (Windows 64-bit is a joke)?

    2) Yep, you can overclock Mac's. Not too hard either. Though you void your warranty in doing so, and the performance gain is minimal so doing this is stupid.

    3) Yep, I've upgraded my mac's overtime to make them compete with the newer models.

    4) Yep, I'm pretty good in Team Fortress 2. What does the OS have to do with gaming again?

  • I didn't mention gaming...

32gb of ram is useless as no program utilises that much but yeh i suppose its kinda cool. Cacheless ram FTW! :P

I thought upgrading macs was liek impossible. My bad. Hey you learn something new every day.

Some say "macs are better because they don't get like any viruses" I reply. "See. Not even those bastards use macs" XD

Also I have NEVER met someone who uses a mac who isn't a homosexual and personally finding that disgusting it is somewhat a turn off towards macs.

  • ctually, you did. LAN + T-bagging usually refers to gaming (a LAN party ....). As for 32 GB of RAM, many apps utilize it, such as Photoshop, Final Cut, After Effects, etc. But it's not so much them as the fact that OS X can easily handle it and Vista cannot.

As for upgrading Mac's, it's definitely possible. In fact, the Mac Pro is probably the easiest machine to date you can upgrade (Youtube for some videos on it).

I prefer OS X because of its simplicity. I rarely curse out my machine now.

  • I mean that if you go to a LAN with a mac you will most likely be laughed out of town. :)

32gb of ram would be stupidly slow as even DDR 3 has at best 1600mhz. Yes vista sucks dick. that is an obvious fact. ever tried linux btw? Ive never cursed out a PC in my life and i got and built my first when I was 12. I have definately had to curse at macs almost every time I have used one. Granted most of those times are when someone has asked me to try fix it. But hey.

  • If you brought a Macbook to a LAN, then yes But if you brought a Macbook pro then no (since Macbook Pro's are some of the best gaming laptop's you can get).

I have tried Ubuntu, Knoppix, DSL, an a slew of other Linux distros.I know plenty of people who've cursed out their machines, even some rather technically inclined people (*cough* Chris Pirillo *cough*). Random lockups, reboots, etc. XP pissed me off to hell and back.

  • Look, I didn't need an argument on video games or any of that nerd stuff.... MAC IS THE BEST EDITING COMPUTER!! Shut up please about this whole Mac Pc stuff. It's immature. Same with 360/PS3... find a hobby or something... go outside....

  • @Mumblefilms good one

    but seriously, get a pc

  • All I'm saying is it's an editing computer. Don't need to get snappy with me... Ha! I actually said snappy. Oh I feel old.

  • + With a PC you don't get fucked over by the company refusing to repair it on warranty. Which is a fairly regular problem as I hear many, many people QQing about it.

Im not getting snappy with you Mumble. Not at all. I feel we are having a fairly non-retarded discussion as far as the internet goes.

  • Final Cut Express is $100, and I just finished this effect in that.

  • didnt see any effects on it..

  • how didn't u see any effects?

look at his tie it has color but the rest has no color..

  • oh yeh...is it hard to make that effect?

  • oh man just put out the other colours and work with the red channel is that so hard to do?

  • Pain in the ass? It takes less than two minutes in Final Cut Pro.

  • or premiere pro. or a number of matte and or keying programs. usually takes less time if its a rare colour. this guy probably just did like a frame by frame process which wud explain the long time. dunno why its 2 hours

  • hi what is the program i can make this effect? is there any tutorial how to make it? thx for help

  • sweet..

  • Although you could have worked on the background more, you did a fine job. It doesn't need alot of money it just needs time... and patience. GOD IT NEEDS PATIENCE.

  • Damn straight!

  • @fireflyfilms how do you do it?

  • cool how'd u do it? garbage matte only way i kno lol, but takes ages!!

  • Would it be possible to do an effect like that in pinnacle Studios?

  • nice work, but yeah son city is set at night, so yeah as you said more contrast next time. id like to see you do eyes next time, they are much harder

  • *sin

  • wait so did you just wear a green tie then key it out or hahaha not sure what else you could have donee...

  • Red tie, masked the colour layer over.... pain the fucking ass lol

  • madd rad dude.

  • yeh nice video i think you should do sumink with the contrast or something like that

  • haha nice - pwned your teacher.

  • You got the tie right, but in sin city the it really is black and white, thats black and grey :)

nice work, I got rid of after effects :( gave up with it

  • Ahh, good point... I'll have to add some contrast in the next clip.
